So, the "How Did You Come Up With Your Cam/User Name?" thread gave me the idea that it might be interesting to have forum members share a little bit about why they're here.

Wat Brung Ya: Most, probably navigated here for the first time on purpose, and that might not be so notable, but why they thought to come here - what they thought they might find, their motivation, that might be pretty interesting?

Why'd Ya Stay: If you have been here more than just a short time, why are you are still here - what hooked ya - what held ya?

And, Get Smart: I'll start by answering the first question. In the 60's there was a sitcom named Get Smart - The title character Maxwell Smart was sort of a combination of inspector gadget, & inspector Cluzo. Max worked for Control, a super secret government counter espionage agency, (the original homeland security/NSA/CIA), who fought the forces of (Chaos) Kaos. Kaos was a location undefined (I think) villain agency who's evil agents always talked with bad russian accents. Max's partner agent, Agent 99, or 99, was the only one in the show who seemed not a least mildly retarded. It was a Mel Brooks creation & very slapstick, and as a 5, 6 year old kid I loved it.

What does any of that have to do with ACF? I could not remember Agent 99's RW name, so I googled agent 99. The first hit showed Barbara Feldon's name. Then I noticed the third hit had MFC in it. I had been a MFC member for over a year at that point so it sorta jumped out at me. Clicking on it took me to an ACF Agent 99 thread. I had just a few days before visited the cam room of a Model Agent 99, it was the second time in her room, and I left about 10 minutes later. The ACF Agent 99 thread was many pages long and was very active at the time. At least 15 different ACF members, (Models & Users) were going back and forth on the topic of why was Agent 99 ban from MFC, and what was her character as a person.

Well I had some strong views on that. The reason I left after 10 min the second time in her room, and swore to never go back, was b/c I was very disgusted with her actions. I had liked her at first b/c she was very outspoken and didn't seem to be "making nice" for anyones sake. She seemed more real than most. But that second time, the chat was about someone telling on Agent 99 for something she had done. She said she knew who did it and that she was one of these models who needed to lose 20 pounds. Then she went on a rant about models that she considered to heavy to be on cam. The final straw for me was when she was trying to remember some slur, and her fans were suggesting a lot of slurs, and finally someone hit on "Swamp Donkey" That gave 99 great delight and she started calling a bunch of different models by name and declaring them swamp donkeys. I was shocked and hugely repulsed by her behavior. I had seen members acting as hateful, but never a model egging her fans on to be hateful.

Well I had to put in my :twocents-02cents: so I signed up, and posted my feelings. I reread it not too long ago, and it may be my best rant - you can really feel my dislike of Agent 99. (to be fair, I later got to know her a little bit, and found she was really not such an awful person.)

Well I started and will answer the more important second question if it looks like anybody gets interested in posting to this one, but if it's not going to go, I'll save my keystrokes - I don't need to talk to myself any more than I already do. I drive me half crazy as it is.

What Brung Ya?

- I was introduced to the forums by the one-and-only LoreleiRose after becoming a frequent regular in her room. After breezing through several posts and reading through the requirements to be a verified model, I initially retreated out of disdain. Seeing that models were required to be female in order to have access to the Model's Only section (which was my primary reasoning for joining ACF: business. To get advice, support and make some friends in the industry) left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I was bitter, and that sorta reflects on my first post on here entitled "The Cam Model Gender Gap". After reading the surprising majority of positive responses and seeing the amount of support and (more than anything) respect I was getting for what I do and the intelligence of the responses, I gave ACF a chance. It is an absolute understatement to say it paid off.

Why'd Ya Stay?

- For the most part, I was embraced with open arms. Whether it was explicit or unexpressed, I felt it immediately; it was something I did not expect. I have had the opportunity to speak on a peer level with models that had helped inspire and shape what my room and business model are today, opportunities I don't think I would have had outside of signing on to in ACF. Despite being in a bit of a slump, I feel that my expression of my true intentions and true self on here have helped me gain respect and acceptance as a legitimate model. Being a generally withdrawn from the female-dominated cam community (out of respect since you female models are constantly BOMBARDED by men), this has been a great venue for me to be able to break the ice with fellow models, meet some amazing new friends and have intriguing discussions with models and members alike. Even more now that I have established a sort of repertoire on this site and people are starting to get to know me, I feel like I am actually part of cam community rather than some guy who is just going through the motions and trying desperately to be something he's not. I thank all of you who have provided me feedback, support, kindness and lively discussion from the bottom of my heart.

Wat Brung Ya:
Back in May a model was discussing ideas to improve her tipping audience base, and by extension her camscore. Like a completely ignorant, impolite, uneducated member with a terrible opinion (read: Things haven't changed!) I foolishly gave her my advice on what to focus on, even though I didn't even have a clue how camscore worked. After the show I decided to educate myself and researched how the camscore worked and one of the first links was for this forum. After that I decided to look around abit and quickly realized how fascinating and complicated the business of camming was. I lurked until August when I saw a heartwarming post about a disabled woman that wanted to cam and felt I had to reply. I labelled myself with the absolutely most embarrassing name I could think of to avoid the urge to ever post again, but the itch had been scratched and demanded more attention, so here I am!

Why'd Ya Stay:
I'd pretty much just be regurgitating the "positive experiences on ACF" post I made, so to spare everyone I'll just say that in short I stay for: The knowledge that this forum provides on the business side of camming but without the bitterness and hatred found in another camming forum I won't mention, and the interesting perspectives models/members here provide on both on-topic and off-topic issues. I've also come to very much anticipate and appreciate forum posts from the regular members/models that post here in non-model forum. Finally the small size of this forum works for me, as other forums I browse on are generally far too large for me to be a part of the community considering how little I post.

Speaking of the unnamed forum for models, I wish I would stop reading that forum, but it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. It's horrifying the conclusions the models there come too about members. The worst part about it is even though the conclusions they come up with are generally correct (probably noticed via experience), they completely get the intentions behind those actions/conclusions wrong. I think neither the vast majority of both models or members are ill-intentioned, bad people. I get the feeling that models here generally "get it" more then models in that forum. Or at least I don't mind pretending that's the case to assist in the boners and illusions I allow models to cast on me. Because of this I've pretty much limited the models I even bother with viewing to models with the ACF tag nowadays.
