If this has already been posted, I couldn't find it, if it has, someone can just direct me to it. I'm seeing different opinions about VPNs and would like to know if models are actually using them, and if so which ones they prefer? I'm thinking about getting started, but I'm very concerned about exposing my home and my family to unwanted attention. I know nothing is perfect, but is a VPN good for "better safe than sorry"?

I use iVPN for sending emails, indie camming, and a few other things. It's worth it to me. Super easy and simple to use.

A VPN will hide your IP address but it will not provide any kind of anonimity while camming. You are almost guaranteed to be recorded and uploaded somewhere and there is always the possibility that someone you know will stumble across your feed or a recorded show of you. If your family finding out is such a huge deal to you then you need to seriously consider just how likely it will be and if it is still worth it.

I'm sorry, I wasn't clear- my family is super supportive, I just don't want anyone to be able to find them through me. A friend of mine (not a cam girl) was stalked online and her family threatened, so I'm a bit paranoid.

If your neighbour sees you online not much you can do if he starts some crap.

But to avoid that a stranger starts digging and ends up with your family, the basics would be NO CONNECTION between your online persona and your real life, that goes for everything like emails, Twitter Twatter or whatever......
Invent a new person with all new details......

Something like that.....

:)
