Ok so...today my Twitter account was suspended for a banner pic I've had up for donkey's years.
Obviously I've been reported by someone, but it's interesting that this picture while mildly suggestive is apparently enough to get a suspension.
Also frustrating is that it says that by deleting it I acknowledge that my picture did violate TOS.
I've contested it and am waiting for the results.

I'm curious if others are having similar issues with previously ok content?

This has also been a much needed wakeup call that I really am too reliant on one platform and absolutely need to be regularly posting on the others as well! 😶

I've had similar things happen to my account in the past. Just do what they say and they will let you use the account again. Sometimes they are just a holes, or at least that's what I think, and do stuff like this that makes no sense. It's good that it's only locked, because I've heard stories of people having their accounts banned without a reason and not just suspended or locked...

yea i have seen guys profiles with actual full on below the waiste nudity, both avatar & banner. Yet the reports seem to do nothing, unless the way around it is just change it to another full on nude banner & profile LOL
Same user has been around for months, so they cant be taking these bans to serious, or they literally are TEMP & warnings all the time..

Not myself, but I know multiple people who had their accounts suspended or even lost them permanently over lingerie (or otherwise slightly suggestive) profile or banner pics after having them there for a long time. Twitter rules are really harsh for those and as you said, probably someone reported it and that's why it happened after such long time.

I had my twitter suspended for a non graphic photo of my ass like 6 years ago. Kinda similar to your old one. I also got a profile photo removed with zero alert before. It was a picture of me in a nude color lingerie with a shadow of a nipple. You would have to look real hard to see it.

All it takes is one asshole to report you.

Recommend keeping profile photo and banner not sexual at all. Keep it PG. Maybe PG-13

Yeah I got banned for bikini banner pic a few years ago. They locked my account for nearly a year, and never even had the decency to communicate specifically what it was. Then one day without warning it was unlocked again. It was crazy. Happened during covid. I'm super, super careful w my profile pics on there now.

Had the same thing happen to one of my accounts today, tbh I didnt think it was much of an issue, click ok, the next page gives you a delete button and then the account is unlocked and you just change the banner.

A model I follow just got permanently suspended from Twitter. After 2 years of using it to promote her content for sale/when she goes online, they randomly decided she was a bot/fake person/spam acount and banned her. No warning, no attempt to confirm she was real (her phone number and email were allegedly both on her account profile from the first day she started the account).

Not sure if she got reported or if she just didn’t do enough replying/liking other tweets to satisfy their algorithm, but it was abrupt.

  • Sorry to hear that.

Suggestive (not necessarily NSFW) profile pics and banners is the one thing they have always seemed to be super strict on when it comes to NSFW accounts. It's still random as to those that get suspended.

So to update...
The review said still not ok.
I had to delete the banner.
Got my Account back but honestly any photo I have as promo is literally to sell my porn...so the whole account is always going to be suggestive to an extent.
Even if my banner is a can of whipped cream...it's still a banner of me selling porn, and the TOC are vague enough that they could ban me for that.
