Well, you know that the U.S. government doesn't even need to have people like Deevers introduce new legislation to make our lives difficult. USC 2257 bookkeeping requirements already make it a felony to distribute porn without complying with onerous bookkeeping regulations. No one pays any attention to it and it hasn't been enforced, but it's on the books. now, and its only through the kindness of the Attorney General's little heart that it hasn't been enforced on internet images (not just porn). One reason they haven't enforced it, from what I've read, is that they want the law to stay on the books for big porn outfits but are afraid if they take artists and individuals with internet images to court for 2257 offenses, the law will be reviewed for constitutionality. They would rather not test the law for small-time offenders because it probably would be ruled unconstitutional. From what I understand Chaturbate keeps the records for us, which is exceptional, and one reason I broadcast there.
Thanks for pointing this out. I'm not too worried YET, but I'm going to be keeping a careful eye on this type of "See what can be gotten away with" legislative longshot proposals. But I suggest that any of you that have porn out there keep an eye on USC2257 searches to look for hints that it will be enforced. Our lives will be made very difficult if it ever is.
