I just played the beta for Titanfall on Xbox 1, and it's sick. The movement is so fluid, and the action just doesn't stop. I was jumping from building to building, and I never ran out of people to fight. Even the Titans move as extensions of yourself. While they can't jump, they can certainly cover ground quickly and evade nicely for a skilled pilot.

I'm totally looking forward to this. Gonna ditch COD and BF4 for it.

The beta was super fun. I have a few videos up from a livestream with me and some friends playing plus my impressions video on my YouTube page. Youtube.com/unclethursday.

My biggest annoyance, though, was throwing a grenade, dying, and the grenade disappearing. Seem like a lazy parent/child way of coding, making the grenade a child of the player so when the parent is removed from the game for the respawn time, the grenade is also removed. If there is anything that needs to get changed, it's that. A few other minor annoyances, but overall the game was super fun to play. I put in a little over 20 hours into it.

I absolute hate when grenades "fizzle" too. That happened to me a few times. Unfortunately, shooters in recent years, at least AAA ones, have moved towards explosive fizzling upon death. It's sad. Even Halo 4 did it. "Pooping" 'nades was my part of my strategy back in the day too.

I got to play the beta as well and I'm extremely excited. I agree with the disappointing coding of the grenades. I would like to have revenge kills.

In Halo 4, I was the person that used sticky grenades and almost always killed you after you killed me. My sticky grenade meter was done way before my DMR meter was. *le sigh*

I suck with stickies, because I'm used to bouncing grenades into hard to reach spots in Halo. I found myself forgoing nades for the most part in Titanfall, but I did get some good kills with the arc grenades at times.

I've been hearing things about this game and I'm really excited! I'm looking forward to actually getting to play it myself, hopefully soon!

(I too love sticky grenades. :h:)

You have a 360, Kaylee? Or, are you getting it for PC?

In my Halo days all I used were stickies. I could never kill anyone with regular grenades, so I would just throw them so I could run in the other direction haha.

I have no 360 but I love PC games so I'll probably get it on that or try it out on someone else's 360! :)

This game really caught at E3 last year. Been watching beta vids and yeah, this game looks fun as fuck. Pretty much the only reason I'd get an Xbone.

That's pretty unrealistic in regards to how grenades work but I totally understand why the devs decided to go that route. Titanfall's developers, Respawn entertainment, mostly consists of ex-Infinity Ward employees (including founders Jason West and Vince Zampella)
which of course are known for the Call of Duty franchise. My guess is they don't want Titanfall to turn into COD4 with everyone spamming nades and getting cheap, quick kills. 75% of my deaths in COD4 were from random nades and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone on that.

One of the major complaints I've been hearing is the bots, they're really stupid and it's really easy call down your titan by just killing them, which could easily be rectified by improving their A.I. or have a separate playlist w/o bots.

I can support a botless playlist, because it could essentially be used as support for Titanfall on the competitive gaming level. For every day casual playing, I wouldn't want the bots removed, because the gameplay would slow down too much as a result. So, I'm be down for both of those ideas implemented.

Oh, you can still die from random grenade throws. In my beta livestream part 4 vid, I start a match with the explosive sniper rifle, start getting up to a high point and suddenly die. Kill cam showed it was a random, CoD style throw-a-grenade-halfway-across-the-map-for-a-lucky-kill thing. No skill, no planning, just a CoD style throw a grenade and pray it hits someone kill-- especially since grenades have little weight and can be thrown for miles in CoD and Titanfall. I hate that sort of shit with a passion.

I love that in Battlefield grenades can't be thrown across the map. They have weight and real physics models. Suddenly going back to a game with hitscan weapons (I kept leading targets) and grenades that can be thrown from one end of the map to the other was a bit of a shock.

The beta was still super fun, and I'm buying the game, but that doesn't mean I can't complain about things I think should be changed.

I put up a video on Youtube that is just some clips from the past week of playing.

I killed them all achievement is brutal. Few wins away from Gen 9 and still haven't gotten it. Got close a few times with the ship but I always miss someone. Even when playing with friends and taking turns at attempting it, still a pain. Anyone here manage to get it?

I haven't done that one. Every attrition game I play a majority of the players are killed before even getting to the extraction point. When I'm on the losing side, I tend to get "Sole Survivor" all the time.

Disappointed there was no solo campaign for Titanfall. I like to get familiar with a game in the campaign before I move on to the online multi-player. Or sometimes I only want to play with myself. :shifty:
Me too. I haven't taken this game out of the cellophane yet due to this.

As a guy that plays Campaign before going Multiplayer, I was a little disappointed there wasn't one, but the Multiplayer was so much fun that I ignored that grievance.

Got really lucky and got that I killed them all achievement. Most of the other team quit and the two that didn't both ran under my titan during the escape. No skill, just luck. Now all I need to do is get a gooser with the plasma railgun and a few more mvp's and I'll have the base game completed. I suck with the railgun so it could take awhile.

I stopped trying the regen requirements after I got to Gooser. It should be easier, but I've only 1 out of 10 for the first tier. I don't play nearly enough to bother with it now.

Gooser challenge was ridiculous at first. Enough people complained about the requirements and Respawn changed it from 50 to 5. I'd still be stuck on that gen if it was 50. Chaingun with accelerator was the easiest way to get them imo.
