Tipping when not in the room

I have a question about something that I saw and can't explain. As the moderator, I saw a member enter the room and then about 5 minutes later depart without saying anything. Then all of a sudden they were tipping in the room without having either re-entered or showing up on the member list. Any amount of "refresh userlist" or actually refreshing the page didn't show them as in the room. How can that happen?

Is this how anonymous tipping works? If so, it's hardly anonymous because their username shows up in the chat with their tip.

Could the member have been tipping from the DM function?

Given the recent updates, I don't have a concrete answer. In the past when someone tips anonymously it says anonymous tipped in chat.

To tip/send DM has its own rules.

Yeah, that would explain it entirely. How simple. I learn a new thing every day. Didn't even realise that was an option. I barely use DM.
