I think it's best to assume that in most cases, the most neutral outcome has been reached: They are ”satisfied” or ran out of funds to continue, or some other normal shift has occurred. And leaving doesn't mean they won't return.
Things happen, and we may never get the full story. Just like we can construct what and how we are willing to share in our interactions with them, and can make changes to that at any time. Members do the same. Don't let it be a hit to your confidence.
