I know that in general talking is preferred. But when you do need to type, do things like grammar and spelling and shorthands affect your tips or the room? Should you follow the guys' lead? If he uses all slang and abbreviations, do the same? I've been watching rooms and there is so much "text speak" which doesn't come natural to me anymore. I guess I'm just worried about coming across as hoity toity or uptight or something of the like.

I don't think the way to type matters all that much. I can't see anyone thinking you are uptight for typing without chatspeak and really, if they do, is that who you want to be around you all the time? I never use chat speak and I've never had an issue.

I make it obvious in my room that I am dyslexic so I really don't care how I type they either like it or not. If guys had an issue they wouldn't keep coming in when they receive numerous PMs with the majority of words joined together lol. Something like this: heysexyman how's things. Or yeahbabe I'm god. Always type God instead of good. No one says anything and if they did I wouldn't care anyway.

As a member, I tend to follow the models lead. You call me bb, I might just do the same. You say hru? instead of typing it out, I'll probably be more lax on typing out on my end, etc.

I will say though, if I make a mistake and don't notice it until after its sent, I'm very unlikely to correct it unless it's completely unintelligible or changes the message all together.

As a model, I would rather someone just leave a simple error instead of correcting it. I know what you mean, if I don't I'll ask. Some guys will occasionally type too fast and forget the question mark at the end of their sentence, then add it in a separate message. I wish they wouldn't. It's apparent from the phrasing that they were asking a question. I've encountered enough people who will send a message containing just a question mark if you take "too long" to respond that I automatically associate a lone question mark with a lack of patience.

I've never had a member comment negatively on the way I type, but I've had tons of members comment positively on it. I think that the kind of person who would even care whether you use abbreviations or text-talk or not, is the kind of person who appreciates when you take the time to type things out. Otherwise I don't think anyone even notices. I think you should just write however you're most comfortable with!

I never use chatspeak unless I'm shaving letters for twitter or just lazy and type U.... i do however mistype frequently on the simple things like god for good and teh for the... I have also found on other chats that the 'too cool for school' folks that use the barely understandable chatspeak for everything are typically the barely legals.

Thanks for the feedback. I really want to make this work so I'm trying to look at *everything* that could potentially affect my results.
99 times of 100, as long as your cam is good, sound and music is good, you're gold.

That's so good to hear! I just got my camera yesterday and since then I've been playing with lighting and sound to make sure it's all gravy. I can't start til Monday so in the meantime lots of planning and research!

If your computer is fast enough to run your cam and dictation software you could just speak instead of typing and have it come out near flawlessly without ever needing to touch the keyboard. I know a lot of dyslexic ppl who use dictation to survive school/work.

I mostly talk but obviously type sometimes for pm. I have an issue with dictation software which is no matter how hard I try to practice with it, it's more of a pain in the ass than typing. It just does not understand my accent. It's supposed to basically be voice recognition so that you can speak normally and it will type. Apparently not just anscottish accent but a strong Glaswegian accent is just not compatible. I find myself shouting abuse at it and it still doesn't work lol.

Yeah I think most of them, even Dragon (which is really good now) does best with standard American to slight regional accents, Standard Aussie and Brit accents.

I think Google's speech recognition does great with all accents but it can't be used on the desktop... yet.

Not to poke fun or anything, but you made me think of this...
