The Microphone Thread

I noticed there is a LOT of threads on microphones, but none created in the current year (and technology is always changing), and most are closed threads.

I thought we could share here what microphones we use for webcamming!

I'm in the market for a new one. In the past, I've just always used my logitech c920 microphone, but my voice is soft and a lot of times members can't hear.

I had a blue yeti, but it's big and heavy and I move my laptop constantly from angle to angle from room to room to outside... I am one of those cam girls that never stop moving.

I'm actually seriously considering one of those headset microphones, I don't know if I have any other option. Call centre fetish bb?

In case anyone wanted to give me ideas on a good mic, I should note that I cam outdoors a lot in a windy city, on top of constantly moving around.

I prefer to use my old logitech 9000 for a mic only because it's just, pretty boss but I recently sold a Blue Snowflake I bought and never used, since it wasn't AS good as my 9000 mic but still good. The Snowflake is portable and even hooks onto the laptop monitor, might be a good match for you.

When I got it, it was on really good sale. It was 35-40 dollars I believe. The regular price is 80 dollars, though.

I use this mic currently. It sounds way better than the mic on my c920. I like it because I can move around with my laptop and the mic always stays put. After tweaking some mic setting between my laptop and MFC it sounds fantastic!

I currently use the blue yeti since I cam from a desktop pc and it's size isn't an issue in that respect. When I was camming from a laptop I used my c920 as my cam and the c930e as the microphone because it just sounded so much better, and was small and lightweight for moving around. I didn't like the color range of the 930e though, so I rarely used it for the actual camera.

I use a blue yeti. It's a really great mic but you gotta fiddle with it to get the sound you want. I do about half gain so that you can't hear me breathe constantly and I'd highly recommend a boom stand of some kind since it picks up sounds on the desk very easily. They have different functions, from omni to bi to single directional, so it's really ideal if you want to do a show with more than one model or just yourself.

I recently bought a Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam

I found the mic on it quite poor compared to the Blue Yeti mic I have (the mic Marissa posted above), they aren't cheap though and they're fairly heavy and not so easy if you like to move about.

I, too, use the Blue Yeti. Mine came with a very long USB cable so I don't have any problems moving it around really. It's a great mic and I never have problems with it. I've seen amazon put them on sale during both Prime day and Black Friday this year.
