Anyone see it? I saw it last Sunday, and have to say that I really enjoyed it. But I also have to say, that I've never read the book, (it was never a part of our criteria in school when I was growing up) so to me, this was an entirely new story. I think all of the actors did a great job, and I've always loved Baz Luhrmann films (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge!). I'm really hoping that this gets Leo an Academy Award nomination this year, or better yet, a win (FINALLY!). Thoughts?

See, I really enjoyed the soundtrack. Most of it really isn't my kind of music, but I still really enjoyed the way it worked in the film. I can't understand where all of the hate about the music is coming from, because if you know Baz Luhrmann, (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet) you know that he likes to modernize his movies and use very modern music. None the less, exceptional movie with an exceptional cast. I really hope Leo gets his Oscar this year!

Am I the only one who hated it? It was SO LONG, SO SLOW, and it lacked intrigue for the most part. I love Leo DiCaprio but I didn't even like him on this part. Meh.

I loved the soundtrack! Thought the movie overall was alright. The costumes, sets, and most of the leads were good. Tobey Maguire is absolutely awful, to me, and he distracted me from the story. It was definitely long but I did find it aesthetically quite pleasing.

Book is fantastic, social nuance loaded masterpiece

Movie is a disaster, excess after excess, it misses completely what the book is about

Book is on the best-seller lists, which is kind of amazing and a tribute to the power of cinema. But I love it when people read.
