I know there's already an Arrow thread, but I figured I'd start one for The Flash.

I've really been enjoying The Flash so far! I've been a fan of the character for a really long time, and I think they're doing a fantastic job so far. I get a bit of a Smallville vibe from it (which makes me quite happy). Though unlike Smallville, this show doesn't shy away from having a hero in a costume.

Just wondering if anyone else is watching, and what people's thoughts are about it :)

I've been watching! I haven't seen last week's episode but I'm stoked for Captain Cold.

I don't think it's great TV but I love The Flash as a character, and I think the show captures the essence of the comics quite well. Plus I love Jesse L Martin, a lot.

From gifs on Tumblr looks like they're doing some heavy Arrow crossover stuff which I hope is just a brief thing and not ongoing. I'm not an Arrow fan but more, it annoys me when I feel like they try to make you watch more shows than the one you're already watching

I'm excited to catch up & see Captain Cold and Firestorm. Also Gorilla Grodd

Captain Cold was great! And Jesse L Martin is SO good in this show. And of course I love the casting of John Wesley Shipp as Barry's dad. It's such a great callback to the 90's Flash show. I do like Arrow, but it REALLY had to grow on me (Season 1 was pretty bad, but then Season 2 was pretty damn good). I don't mind a few crossovers here and there, but I hope they keep it to a minimum.

And YES! Firestorm and Gorilla Grodd!!!!!

I was genuinely surprised I got into the Flash. I had tried to watch Arrow a few times because the husband is so into it and I just...hate that version of Oliver Queen. But Flash has really pulled me in and all the bad guys they've used so far are pretty neat. :D

I had the same experience! I read something about how adaptations are most successful if they maintain the essence of what they're adapting. Arrow is so different, and Ollie is so different than his comic self, that it never really felt like a Green Arrow show to me. But Flash has the comic-book vibe and Barry is just as kind and witty as he is in the books I'm used to.

Finally watched last week's, I liked Captain Cold! I want Firestorm already, I love Victor Garber so much. Also I want to see Iris doing more. She's so lovely. I know it will be ages but I'm ready for them to get together now!!

I loved this cover of "I Ran" that was at the end of the episode "Plastique" (Episode 5) last week! (I know this isn't the "Music thread" but I felt it was more appropriate in this thread)

I am liking it. I was so stoked when he showed up on Arrow, and just new where the CW was taking it. I think it is gonna be great....though I am partial to Arrow, but that is one I had never read before the show so maybe that is why?

I noticed that too (liked it as well) and I went looking for it after I heard it.

It's Boga.

I'm not a Flash historian, but I know there've been several Flashes. I'm surprised they chose to use Barry Allen for their Flash on the show rather than Wally West. Doesn't the Justice League animated series (10 years ago now I guess) use Wally West?

Yeah, Barry Allen is the second ("Silver Age") Flash. Jay Garrick was the first ("Golden Age") Flash. They probably chose Barry over Wally West ("Modern Age Flash") because Wally was originally Barry's sidekick, Kid Flash. It might have made it more convoluted story wise to have to explore Wally's origin. Plus the comics have brought Barry back, and he's currently The Flash in the comic series.

But yes, Wally was in the Justice League animated series, he was the current Flash at the time :)

Anyone else is annoyed with Barry's relation with Isis in this serie? It's the NiceGuy trope all over again. :?

The crossover episodes of Arrow and Flash were basically the best things of both shows, so far. Also, it helps I really like the guy they got to be Captain Boomerang. Another Spartacus guy, like the dude who played Deathstroke and the lady who plays Waller. Though, Waller will forever be a fat woman in my mind, and voiced by CCH Pounder...

WOW! "The Man in the Yellow Suit" was AMAZING! Not necessarily for the "big reveal", but for the scenes between Jesse L. Martin and Grant Gustin. SO good!

"I need my Barry Allen" - Joe West :crybaby:

The end of the midseason finale confused me, some.

So is Wells a "natural" speedster? And the suit is made to give someone else Zoom (Reverse Flash) powers? And did he beat himself up? What is going on?!

The problem is, I've read too many Flash comics, mostly with Wally West, but, I mean, still... It's just confusing.

I think he's ONE of them. He might possibly be a good one (though only time will tell). My guess is that Eddie didn't get hurt when the Reverse Flash attacked is because I reckon it was him in the future, but I could be wrong.

Trying to decipher answers in a storyline revolving around time travel is extremely hard.

It's even worse, when in the comic, there are so MANY future enemies, so Wells was just a conundrum. At least Arrow was pretty straight forward. Ish. Ra's al Ghul is easier to figure out than Future Reverse Flashes

Seeing Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller back on screen together was awesome. It was cheesy, but still awesome.

And at the end of the show...prison break!
I see what you did there. :p

Need more hot villains every week

All these weeks off are kind of killing the momentum. On the other hand, the team-up spin-off sure sounds nifty, with original Canary, Atom, Captain Cold, Firestorm (ish?), Hawkgirl, and Rip Hunter...

Having rewatched all of Flash over the weekend, since I could not move, after pain pills left me dizzy after stopping them... I do not think I like Heatwave at all. He's..... well, in the comics, they eventually had half the Rogues snorting coke, and this just seems a lot like that. He's too random. (so why do they let him on a team that travels through time?!) Cold, though, at least makes some sense. He has somewhat of a code, and sticks to it. (other than fucking Barry on the prisoner transfer, but duh...) And you could definitely tell they kind of had no idea what to do with Eddie after a while, then went OH DUH. Also, Jay's hat! Multiverse of Flashes? Hell yes. And.... does this mean the real Wells is back? This hurts my brain a lot.
