Skyrim hates me, i have the ps3 version so i've got all the savegame bugs and late DLC's. And now, more than one year after getting the game, i have crashes each time i cross a river (and skyrim is FULL of rivers).

I had a bit of an "avoiding homework" Skyrim marathon this weekend. Got through A LOT of miscellaneous quests, and even built a house. When I logged off tonight, I happened to catch this little milestone:

Ugh, that sucks. My sympathies. I have to say, I'm not some PC elitist or anything, but when it comes to Bethesda games, I just don't think I could play on a console, for just this sort of reason. Fixes happen quick when there is an open community of modders/patchers to deal with it.

Anybody else play on PC and get into modding? I've been modding TES games since Morrowind, and started installing mods almost immediately with Skyrim, even though I promised myself I wouldn't. I've already got almost 100 mods installed and running. I'm sure that before long, it'll hit near the 220 plug-in ceiling. My latest acquisition has been this sexy bathhouse, and this sexy bathhouse, and this little mod that links them together into one big complex. Now I just send all my unused followers there (since I only really run around with Lydia) so that they can all swim naked together and enjoy the easy life.

I'm thinking about making a little mod that enables you to drop groupings of gold in pouches and those gold piles that came with the Dragonborn DLC. I don't know how to script very well, though, and I haven't even really dug into the Skyrim Creation Kit, aside from making a few small tweaks to things here and there. It's a project I might not ever be able to get to, but it's something I think would be a cool addition to the game -- being able to decorate a treasure vault room with piles of gold. You can do it the labor-intensive way through console commands, but a mod that removes gold and produces a pile (maybe a spell?) would be much quicker.

Anyway, I'm rambling.

Always. i tend to keep it simple though (less than 20 mods). i have a new weapon mod for less ugly weapons and a couple body mods for less ugly people. Lydia and Iona (the Riften huscal) are modded to essential and lose that boring steel armour and swords. Most of the "sexy" armours look fucking retarded, so I mostly go with stock clothing and armour. I will eventually start loading quest mods when i get bored with the vanilla quests.

So true. I've found that most of the armor mods out there clash heavily with the setting. I will admit to doing some sexy armor and clothing for the bathhouse, though, since it's a bit of an oasis from lore . :-D There are some that buck the over-the-top trend, and manage to be really great, and still fit the TES world. Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons look really intriguing to me. I think I might give them a go, especially now that I'm buying up all this real estate and building all these houses, and have so many weapons racks and plaques and mannequins to fill.

Also, Medusa Armor looks really great on my Lydia.

I haven't made it over to Solstheim yet. I've been pretty sidetracked with miscellaneous quests and Hearthfire activities. And then I'm gonna hunt dragons. And then I'm gonna hunt vampires. At some point in all that, though, I think I'm probably going to be overcome with the urge to ride dragons. I'm looking forward to bonemold (I'm assuming that's what she's wearing?) and stalhrim. Is there chitin? I always liked the look of chitin armor in Morrowind, even though it offered such little protection.

And nice thick legs. Is that UNP?

CBBE It lives up to its name.

She is wearing heavy Chitin. Bonemold looks the same as Morrowind and I'm just on a quest to find the Stalrin or whatever its called for weapons and armour.

Try to trap a lot of souls before you load dragonborn, as its glitched and you can't capture dragon souls once it loads. I'm trying to find the workaround now.

Oh shit! Is that what caused it? Come to think of it, I did stop absorbing souls about the time I installed Dragonborn. I wonder if the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch fixes it. A little bit of looking into it suggests that older versions of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch might be the cause of the conflict with the Dragonborn DLC. I guess I'll find out in a few minutes. In the meantime, I've just been console commanding in souls for every dragon I kill.

Cool. i will need that.

It is the Dragonborne patch that's doing it. BOSS actually puts them in the wrong order.

The unoffical patches are to go:
Skyrim
Dawnguard
Heathfire
Dragonborn

And be right under the ESMs, with all your other mods after them. That fixed it for me.

BOSS was actually acting up on me over the last week, unchecking all of my mods, and placing them in alphabetical order whenever I ran it. I hadn't realized that I had somehow re-downloaded a second copy of Steam, and with it, a second, clean copy of Skyrim, which BOSS was recognizing as the real copy. It took me forever to realize this, so I've been playing with all my mods arranged in alphabetical load order for a week, and adding about three mods daily to this arrangement over the course of the week. Miraculously, there were no game-breaking conflicts, which is probably why I hadn't noticed it until I wanted to futz with the unofficial patches. Weird.

Now, to go see about those dragon souls...

Finish the main quest in Skyrim and have a few dragon souls saved up before you try to complete the main quest in Dragonborne. Just sayin'

Noted. ;)

Now that I have a decent desktop I can't WAIT to get Skyrim for PC and get back into modding! The last time I was able to play Elder Scrolls on PC was Morrowind and I was obsessed with the modding community. I tried playing Skyrim on xbox but it wasn't the same without the modding ability.

My favorites were Better Bodies, Better Faces, and one that got rid of all the Cliff Racers.

Nexus supports mods for all of the games and is a good place to start. You also have Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, so there are 5 games you can drive yourself nuts with. All modded to the Nth degree and all quite similar in mechanics. I don't play Morrowind any more, but the other 4 still get a run occasionally.

Just face and body mods in this, everything else is stick

The tall one is Lydia, a Nord Huscal you get early in the game. My girl on the left is a short-ass Breton.

I really have a tendency to overmod Elder Scrolls games. I guess I'm glad there's a cap to the number of plugins, because damned if I don't try my hardest to reach that ceiling with every TES game. The problem is, things tend to get less and less stable, the more content you add. So, since I have a long weekend, I've decided to do clean installs of Skyrim and Oblivion, and then see if I can get a more stable mod build up, since I now have the game pretty much situated the way I want, and won't be adding or taking away much of anything anymore.

Mod Organizer is pretty cool, by the way. You can make load profiles for different playthroughs, so that you can keep certain plugins out of certain character builds, and you don't have to worry about manually sorting your save files.

I've had the game on Xbox for a little over a year (two?? I don't remember)
I haven't played it in a very long time.
but I'm having trouble building my magicka! I suck at skyrim so badly haha.
I remember trying to get into a college at winterhold I believe and they asked you to do something I didn't have nearly enough magicka for..

how do I build it up?? :)

Sorry I'm late to this, but you can increase magicka when you level and also get potions or items that increase it. The novice hood you get during the intro off the guy in the cage is actually a good start. Putting points into things you are going to use also lowers the spell cost. I have novice and apprentice spells for conjuration and alteration at half price at the moment. Also get one of the better magic mods if you are on PC, vanilla mages really do suck badly

I've been playing Dragonborne with Lydia, and wondered who her actor was as she got a heap of new dialogue.

Anyway I found this...

The 50 something Dana Delany

tumblr_mtot1tH8jd1r9hb3qo1_500.jpg

Surprising who some the other actors were. I recognised a couple, but I wasn't expecting Claudia Christian, Lynda Carter, Max Von Sydow or Christopher Plumber.

Lynda Carter's been voicing for Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind. She is the first and strongest Nord woman. And Max Von Sydow's voice was all over the hype machine leading up to the release of the game. His is the voice in the first teaser. It's how people could be sure that the game was going to be epic (in the truest sense of the word.)

Actually, the teaser still gives me chills.
