Sudden Realization About Camming Consistency

Hi! I've been camming off and on for a little over a year now. Definitely more "off" than "on." I struggle massively with consistency and have somehow managed to brainwash myself into thinking it doesn't matter time and time again as new camming accounts get quiet and viewers and tippers slack off. I'm done with all that now! I want do do things "right!"

I had a realization while reading something on ocamgirl about how "consistency is key." It said "Treat your customers like you would in any business, and be reliable with your schedule."

Okay, so here's the analogy I came up with.

Have you ever heard a new local business was opening, or noticed it riding by and you were like "Hm, this seems interesting!" and you stop in and really like the place, so you decide to come back later and write down their hours. Later comes, and you wanna go back to see if there's anything new in stock or if there are sales or anything like that going on, and when you get there, they're closed?

So you think "Oh, well, I really hoped to buy that vase I saw last time. Maybe there was an emergency and they had to close or something. I'll try again tomorrow." and tomorrow comes and you go back to find that although the time is DEFINITELY within the hours listed on the door sign, they're closed again! SO this time, driving home, you're looking for somewhere else to shop for a vase. You find a nice store, different from the last but this place is good too, so you look around and plan to come back later. Later comes, you go back, they're open, and you buy a vase similar to the one you wanted! You would never try going back to the other place because you learned that it's unreliable and frustrating to go there, so even if you saw the store open while passing by, you probably wouldn't stop.

Thoughts? I hope maybe this can help other new or slacking cam girls out there. I hope I remember it too, LOL.

Heh, there was actually a tabletop games store that I would drive by that was like that. It closed at 4pm on weekdays (wtf?) so I could never stop by after work. The one time I had a day off and felt like taking a look, I showed up during the listed hours and they were still closed! They had a spot on the main street of a fairly affluent part of town so their rents could not have been cheap. I don't think it's a surprise they went out of business and I never did step foot in it...

I used to be a regular in a room where the model started getting really inconsistent, frequently calling off the night at the last minute or just not camming for long periods of time without saying anything. You could see the less dedicated regulars peeling off and the newbies never returning. It was depressing and frustrating because there would be less and less members supporting her. She eventually quit and found a new hustle that works better for her but it was really sad to see her go.

I agree.... Consistency is important for any type of business. In the case of models, being available consistently is not just important for camming but for other things as well - for example, selling custom videos.

Even for fetishes, there are usually quite a few girls to choose from and if one model is hard to reach, then guys will just move on to another, so being available makes a huge difference.

For example, I'm very impulsive and when I have an idea for a new video or I feel like doing a chat, I want to be able to contact a girl and get a reply within a day or two to arrange things and I don't like to wait more than a week for the actual video or cha. If it takes any longer than a week my initial enthusiasm will have passed and I just won't be into it as much as if she had been available sooner. sometimes, by the time I get the video I regret choosing that model, because I found a new one just as attractive who could have done the same faster.

I've known many girls in the past that I really enjoyed working with (or would have enjoyed it), but they were either just very flaky or they had too much going on offline and weren't available regularly (sometimes not even replying messages for weeks), so I eventually gave up on them. There is one girl on MGF I like who makes good custom videos, but every time I send her a message she takes 3-4 days to reply. It takes a long time to set anything up and sometimes I wonder if it's worth the wait.

There was a Subway restaurant like that where I used to live. I remember calling them once to ask what time they closed, and the girl said it depends on what time her boss calls to tell them to close that day. Huh? I'd never heard of that before.
