This is a very sad and scary example of why streamers, and ESPECIALLY adult streamers, need to be careful about sharing their location information.

“According to police, the suspect said he ‘wanted his money back,’ leading to speculation that he may have been a viewer who donated money to her streams,” said journalist Jeffrey Hall.

"Stream Snipers" are a common thing on "IRL streams" on the mainstream/non-adult stream sites. Because it's usually near impossible for them to hide where they are as that's a big aspect of doing the IRL in the first place. But watching IRL streams always made me uneasy because of my years doing what I do and being so incredibly careful about ever stating where I'm going to be at any given time.

My heart sunk when I saw this headline. :(

Apparently there's more to the story. The streamer knew the guy and took 4 million yen from him them blocked him. That why he was ranting about a 'loan' apparently when he killed her.

He's still deranged but this wasn't a case of random crazy person.

Knew him how?

According to sources close to the investigation, Sato, a resident of the Tokyo suburban city of Tama, went by the alias "Ai Mogami" as she livestreamed videos online. She was apparently attacked while livestreaming on March 11.

Takano had frequented a restaurant where Sato worked since around August 2022 after viewing her livestreaming around December the year before. In January 2024, he consulted with Tochigi Prefectural Police about financial trouble with Sato.

Takano was quoted as telling police, "I managed to raise funds with my savings and consumer loans and lent Sato more than 2 million yen (approx. $13,500) for living and other expenses. I made up my mind to attack her as she wouldn't give my money back."

So he started stalking her after watching her live streams. A fan gone mad.

I noted that in my first post.

This made it sound like they were acquainted before she was streaming.

Takano reportedly became acquainted with Sato in 2021 through her livestreams. Over time, their relationship took on a financial dimension, with Sato frequently asking for loans under various circumstances—claiming she had forgotten her wallet, lost access to her funds, or needed urgent financial help. Messages exchanged between the two suggest that these requests escalated, with Sato borrowing small amounts at first before requesting larger sums.

Despite Takano providing financial support, repayment never materialized. He eventually took legal action, winning a court case for the outstanding debt. However, even with the ruling in his favor, no payments were made. This unresolved financial dispute appears to have deepened his frustration, leading to an escalation of emotions that ended in violence.

According to this post on reddit (from someone who did a lot of digging/reading about the streamer) it kinda sounds she was up to similar "love con" stuff to get money from him... ugh

Just for a clearer story from what I got after reading through the Japanese chat screenshots and the NHK articles linked throughout the thread. Will roughly convert to USD.

In screenshots of them chatting on Line(chat app) she asked to borrow money from him with reasons like: she forgot her wallet at a part time job but happened to have a cash card laying at home he can send to, low on cash after gifting $1k bottle of champagne to someone important in her cabaret bar group. To add he also alleges in a chat to a 3rd party that she would also have reasons like: her sister has a debt to a host and was in danger of being sex trafficked, she might have cancer or she ran away from home needs money to rent a place, in 3 month intervals, admits he was stupid for falling for these.

He was chasing $25k(there is an image of a document with this amount stated) that she asked to borrow from him through Line messages since late 2023. January 2024 he calls the prefectures police headquarters to inquire about what to do about money that hasn't been returned by an acquaintance, after he had filed a lawsuit the prior year which failed due to her being unlocatable/uncontactable(by prosecutors?) told him to talk to a lawyer or the court.(From NHK article) Lastly asks in end of January-February for repayment, she initially asks for a 2 day extension misses it, he then asks multiple times in multiple day intervals till the 16th for repayment(not clear if 24 or 25) she only replies once(5th) when he asks if she has no intention of repaying him, she denies.

He is 42 allegedly Schizophrenic. Claims he initially only meant to threaten for the money and apparently took out a personal Loan to fund some of this. Not condoning him killing her just providing context that seems fairly verified and justify the time I just spent reading all this.

edit: He first saw her stream in December 2021 and first met her irl in august 2022 when he started visiting the cabaret bar she worked at. Loaning occurred September-December for money to rent a place and living expenses(calls into question his messages to the 3rd party), law suit made August 2023, December it went through that she would be ordered to pay.

He somehow found out she would be streaming along the yamamoto railway line, arrived in tokyo that morning and stream sniped her. ( all from the nhk article.)
