Streamate advices

Hello guys! I'm a model on MFC but in some days it's really hard for me to make any money. Usually when I don't make any token I log off after 1:30-2 hours because I'm scared that my vamscore will drop a lot. I have a lot of free time because of COVID and I would love to cam more but caming at other hours that I used to on mfc doesn't work for me and my room. Lately I've been thinking to try another cam site in my free time and I want to give Streamate a shot.
Now my question is, What advices would you give to a newbie on Streamate? I never tried a premium cam site before. I know the main rules of the site, but I would love to hear more from models and members.

There is something similar in Streamate which is your ranking, but it's not publicly available info - you have to look for yourself. It's based on your connection quality, customer rating, room appearance and hours put in. The higher all these are, the higher you appear on the front page. It is a premium site so customers expect a premium experience and spend premium money. I don't recommend it for newbies, so it sounds like you're in a good position to try. Remember that this is the backbone for pornhub & redtube's model section so you are thrust right in the thick of extremely ready to pay and play men. There is a lot of c2c, if your heart is in it and your quality is high there is fun to be had and money to be made. Having interactive vibes, a few dildos to choose from and great camera angles are musts. There's a lot more seduction on this site imo than on public cam sites, on SM you get pulled into pvts without warning and are expected to perform - teasing and figuring out what your partner wants is often part of the pvt experience. Advise as a member
Remember privates are 'at will' so pay attention when one has started and when one ends. Big early model mistake is not realizing a private has started and arguing about it or the private ends and you're not giving a show in public. Only exclusives give you the option to accept or not

Members can't PM but they can stop other members from seeing what's written. If you're responding to member use their handles so they know which one you're talking to. Saying yes or no without directing it to a conversation can create confusion.

Don't ask for information as small talk. If you ask me for my name then don't get upset if I ask for yours. SM users are paying largely for secrecy so unless they offer you information themselves stick to their handles and asking what they like from you. Age, Birthday, Location, Name can put members off.

Mention your time and schedule with a timezone. Don't say you get on a 9pm and expect it to be 9pm everywhere in the world.

Verbal language is a VALUE vs typing. If you can verbally speak a language USE IT. Better communication the better value and easier to validate higher rates.

You will always have to SELL your value. Free chat on SM is to make your points as to why they are taking your into private or exclusive. You're going to be asked the same questions over and over. Remember members aren't a hive mind and don't stay in rooms long before leaving (SM does not allow members to see feed for more than one model at a time) so just because you told one member what you do in exclusive 30seconds ago doesn't mean the next member heard any of it.

Make sure your rate is worth your time. Members do not like to be nickel and dimed. A low rate but expecting tips during a private or exclusive generally doesn't work. Just charge a rate high enough that you feel comfortable to perform at.

Don't ignore members when they say there's a problem with your room or your camera. If a member says they can't hit the private button and asks you to restart your session consider doing it. You'd be surprised how many bugs happen on SM. Also if they say your camera is lagging or clipping pay attention since the system requirements are much higher than other cam sites model can often have problems on SM that they don't on other sites.

If you get into a convo with one member in free chat and you see others make sure every few minutest to remind people that you're ready for private at will and don't mind being cut off from a convo. Sometimes members can be too polite and wait till you're 'not busy'.

You can't count on a lush or vibrator to be your sole gimmick on SM. 1 gold = 1 USD not ten cents like other sites so people aren't as willing to tip vibe you, you will have to sell personality and performance.

If you're going to put pictures up one should be a full body one (doesn't have to be nude just so people can get an idea of your body shape) and if you have or use toys a picture of all of them. This will cut conversation down a lot and you'll get a lot less 'what toys you have' or 'stand up so I can see you'. You'll still get those but also you'll know who actually reading through your info

If you not understanding or confused on what the member wants don't freeze up and do nothing. It's often good to just a have routine to fall back on and do till you can figure out what the member is asking for. Members can often have a very short line between 'not understanding' and 'time wasting'

I'll leave it to a model to explain things like if you should respond to emails, the 30second rule, gold shows and things like that.

—ask support for a static picture instead of the default screenshot
—expect members to pop in and out of your room a lot. Don’t take it personally. Members often pop in different rooms and immediately leave. Large room counts aren’t so much the norm.
—don’t show nudity for the first 30 seconds. I stand up, tease, Slowly strip, dirty talk ask how the member is today etc.
—only use toys you are comfortable using over and over again.
—Use the notes option to make little notes on members (who likes what, names etc) it can be hard to remember everyone’s different preferences and screen names

Take advantage of the new model tag as much as possible. This starts the first time you stream so make sure you start when you have some time to commit.

Everybody so far has given really great, spot-on advice.

I would like to add...

1) Never take a client offsite. When you are new, you will be bombarded by cheap guys who want to take you offsite because "they want you to have more money" (hahahahahaha). The reason is not that they want you to have more money, it's that they are broke and want to spend less, but get more for themselves. It is a very unsafe thing to do, and streamate monitors accounts, and PMs (which is a very good thing, they put in a lot of effort and time into keeping us all safe). So not only is it unwise and potentially dangerous, it could also get you kicked off of the site. If you have a slow day, or a slow few days/ weeks, don't ever be tempted to go offsite with any of them. The offers will come galore, for that, plane tickets, all of it. Never accept. Block and report for that.

2) Don't set your rates low. For some anti-intuitive reason (at least to me), setting low rates on that sites often attracts the worst, most demanding Members. By low, I would say definitely never lower than 3.99 per minute, even if you are nervous starting out. Even $3.99 is very low though, but lower than that is a guarantee to get many harassers, and time-wasters. Some of those time wasters are nice guys too, but they throttle your ability to make any decent income and have fun. So whether they are nice or not, doesn't really matter. Those new guys need to learn the etiquette of that particular site.

3) If you happen to have a thing for non-rich, but working-class honest guys... be prepared to take 50 3-5 minute shows a night. They are there, and they are cool AF, but they can't afford long shows. So it can take quite a bit of energy.

Is the traffic always so low on SM? Or maybe my rates are too high? I can't get the hang of SM either lol. I feel like I'll sit for HOURS with just no interaction at all except names logging on and logging off. It's really discouraging.

Think about it as though everyone was a purple. You will do fine even if 2-3 people pop in at a time. Having more than 10 people in my room is an anomaly - and sometimes a sign that I need to sign off - they're not spenders and not taking me to pvt, I'll try again later. Check your paid time % and try to keep your avgs as high as possible. I love all the metrics they give us!

You can use OBS Virtual Cam as it is recognized within SM Connect as a camera. I personally use SM Connect normally & use my Brio Control Panel to adjust my white balance and turn auto focus off.

I believe the new tag is 30 days from your approval but that might be a better question for support.

Hi,

You can use OBS, but using this streaming method limits you from certain tools, such as: cam2cam (not available on external encoder streams), streaming quality settings (which are available only on Web Encoder).

The new model tag, as someone already mentioned here, it's 30 days from your first streaming online.

In regards of the tips, I see you got plenty useful things from the girls . But here is what I usually recommend models who ask for it:

- Make sure you are consistent with your streaming hours. Experiment with the hours, test different ones to see which period of the day/night fits you the best. The more hours you put online, the better chances you have, to grow;
- Avoid disconnecting the streams too often. If you have the possibility to keep the streams long, do so, it will give better chances to customers to discover you on the site;
- Ask customers to rate you and maintain the votes to 4,9 or 5 stars. Ask them to tag and to add you to favorites, that way they can find you easier on the site;
- Make sure your streaming quality is always excellent;
- Don't do things that makes you uncomfortable on cam. Find the right interaction and activities that will keep you and your viewers entertained, so for that feel free to experiment with different ideas (consult the code of conduct in case you don't know our rules);
- Try to speak on the microphone, our customers love that kind of interaction;
- Use all the tools you have available on the platform
- Update your account regularly with new content (videos and pictures)
- Use your cammodels.com referral link to promote over the web, external sites, social media to generate extra revenues from the members you bring (up to +40% from what they spend with you and 20% if they spend with other models on our site);
