I'll keep my personal opinions on the topic separate from the top post.

First, let me start by saying RAPE IS FUCKING HORRIBLE AND NEVER, EVER OKAY IN ANY WAY, WHETHER IN PERSONAL LIFE OR WHILE DOING A PORN SCENE.

Second, I believe in innocent until proven guilty. So far I have found no evidence that she has ever gone to the authorities. Does this mean it didn't happen? Absolutely not! Many rape victims keep silent for years out of fear, especially when the rapist is someone with a celebrity like Deen.

All I hope is that we do not immediately pick up our pitchforks and chase Deen to the stake, but instead search for evidence and if evidence is found we punish justly. The same goes the other way, defamation of character to this magnitude done so publicly is a crime as well. Now, I'm not going to go running and screaming at Stoya to provide evidence, as I believe all victims should be treated with a gentle hand regardless if it is not known 100% the victim's allegations are true, this will all come out in time, no doubt. Psychologically more harm can come from doing the opposite. I'll be waiting patiently for Deen's response as well.

No matter what is true and what is not, the outcome of this will certainly set standards in the adult industry. And, unfortunately, someone's career is toast. :/

I saw this and I AM SO ANGRY! I've seen people saying sh-t like, "Oh it's not rape because she's in porn and getting paid" like first off, no. Secondly, if she says no, if she says her f-cking safe word, IT STILL MEANS NO!

Read that too. First thing I was wondering, was this during their private lives, or during filming? There might be video evidence somewhere.

See, I'm different - that's just me - but if someone comes out about being abused, I'm immediately in their corner until proven innocent. It took me 10 years to come out about what happened to me and that's way past the statute of limitations (I think that's what it's called).

Rape happens a lot more often than most people think it does. 1 in 4 college women are raped. :(

Even if a court of law finds James Deen innocent, it does not mean that he didn't rape her. It happens all the time, it happened to me this year with tons of photographic and DNA evidence and a written confession.

We will likely never hear James Deen admit anything, so there will always be skeptics. I think that the main thing to take away from this though, is to be supportive of a woman who very bravely and very publicly came forward, knowing that people would accuse her of all sorts of horrible things. Rape is kept silent far too often and I applaud anyone who speaks out, and those who support them.

Sorry to hear that happened to you

The problem with evidence is that there rarely is any, and it will always be a he said/she said situation. Especially when both parties engage in rough sex. The only way anyone can know for sure that it was rape is her words of protest, which unless it was recorded, we only have her word.

It's a tricky situation, because I think both that innocent until proven guilty and trust/support the accuser. It fucking sucks. One thing; I don't think she would lie about this. It's a huge PR disaster for both parties and she has nothing to gain from it. It's actually pretty rare for women to lie about getting raped, though it does happen. Honestly I'm grateful that I'm a woman because I would rather get raped (and have, many times) than be wrongfully accused of rape.

Edit: I'm not saying that being wrongfully accused of rape is worse than being raped, btw. Just that it would damage me emotionally more personally.

lets not be all up in arms about this... i still pledge innocent untill provel guilty. its to easy to "Claim" some one raped some one, and get them fired from there job. kickede out of schools, and destroy there lives with out it actully happend.
to many times we see it happend, where girls have a problem with some guy and Destroys hes intire life this way... i mean for gods same, if you get acusede of rape as a guy you will with 99% Loose your job. even though it might not be true.. lets not make a big deal out of this untill it have been proven.

That is sooo not what i said...
twisting my words around is a bad way to start this. all im trying to point out is that its to easy to destroy some one by claiming they raped one.
and that we should not run after james deen with pitch forks and tourches yet, untill its Actully proven that he did this.

i'm all for that people speak up about it, and its brave when a girl/boy does speak out about it. but there is So fucking many cases where people get Wrongely accusede of rape and loose everything because of it.

It's not as easy as you think. Many of the women on this forum could tell you their own experiences trying to report sexual assault and how impossible it was - how it made them feel like a criminal not a victim, how they were given literally no help. So many women get dismissed before they even file the initial police report, are sneered at, not taken taken seriously or completely pushed to the back burner. The percentage of women who have lied about rape is so low that it's not worth dismissing even one woman who comes forward because the chances are slim to none that she's lying. No offense but the "women lie about rape1!1!1!1!1" mentality is propaganda perpetrated by a chauvinistic rape culture.

i agree that women get dismissede to easy when they come out about this, which is a problem we should fix in our society.
but i do not agree with us just Instandely putting this man behind bars with out any trail or justice. this man could as easely be innocent, and we dont know whether not its true or not, the best thing we could do where to Actully get some evidence, and there by find out if it did or did not happend.

all i where trying to say is that this will Most likely cost him hes carrier, even if he did not do it.
i'm not trying to dissmiss the women, but just saying that some evidence would be good here, which i hope we get, and there by can see if its true or not.

The ladies are correct when saying it's very hard to get actual proof of a rape. Honestly I don't think she would just make something like this up and go public with it. Most women are afraid to speak out and I am glad she is speaking out and I do not advocate against going against James Deen but even if there was an incident unless her saying her safe words was recorded.

This is not the first time a girl has went public about James Deen acting inappropriately - I can't find the article but a few years ago another girl came out and said he violated her but I don't know if it was rape or just inappropriate behavior I am going to keep looking for it because I was reading it last year.

There's actually a really good documentary about this called "It Happened Here". It's on Netflix. Told by the actual people it happened to.

I know I remember seeing something about him being accused of assault of some sort against women in the past, but I can't find it anywhere now. It was the first thing that came to mind when I saw Stoya's tweet.

I've always been baffled by why so many people like him, he's always seemed like such a creep to me. (For reasons like this:

There is a documentary about rape in the military called "The Invisible War". Its heartbreaking.

"The combined figure for rape and attempted rape of women since age 14, 27.5 percent, became known as the "one in four" statistic."

That study wasn't limited to college women and it included assault activities. So your first statement was wrong.
The study you cited, full actual study here, included questions relating to assault as well as rape. Sexual assault can happen without rape. Not saying this isn't wrong to do, just saying the 1 in 4 ratio you quoted includes many other assault activities besides rape.

The list of questions given in the survey from that study. (from page 167 in that documents page numbering)

I think that's the kind of leap of judgement people are trying to get away from regardless of what happened here. People shouldn't automatically assume women who say they've been raped as lying, and at the same time never assume everyone accused of crimes are automatically guilty.
Anyone can be accused of a gross crime and the accusation alone often ruins their life.
They're both dangerous assumptions.

Tacky tasteless joke/tweet does not equal rapist.

Alright, I'm just commenting in regards to rape stats. I'm reading this directly from the The Penguin Atlas of Women in the World, a book I'm incredibly glad I bought. The United States has the highest rate of rate than any other industrialized nation in the entire world. About 90,000 reported annually (yearly) but it's estimated that 700,000 rapes happen here every single year. I never trust stats that say 1 in x amount are rape victims, they're usually bullshit. The actual numbers are what matters.

As far as military rapes, according to stats released by the Pentagon. A women in the US army who is sent abroad, is 15 times more likely to be raped by a comrade in arms than killed by enemy fire.

I absolutely believe what Stoya says.

Shit like this just shitty. On the one hand, it's important that any rape victim is supported and their bravery for coming forward and naming their attacker should be applauded. Too many rapists go unpunished and the only way to cut down on that number (which will also cut down on the number of rapes) is to reverse this weird stigma that's been attached to women coming forward with rape allegations by a rape culture that's become self-sustaining. Some of the vile shit being said to/about Stoya (by men and especially women) is at best damaging, and at worst criminal. That shit is the furthest thing from helpful.

On the other hand, it's unfair and potentially dangerous to view Deen as anything other than innocent until proven guilty. It's a no-win situation and it sucks.
