I'm guessing that if a woman owns a hitachi, she owns more than a few automated masturbation devices that would be reasonable substitutes.

Really, Herby? Because surely a woman could not know basic electric maintenance? I'm sure you didn't mean it that way... but you might wanna rethink your wording next time. Cause some of us women COULD electrocute you. ON PURPOSE. lol

Wait! Before females get their panties in a bunch...he said "where" a woman (I'm sure this is neither sexist or grammatically incorrect in Dutch).

Yeah Herby, you should have clarified that. After all 2.2% of the electricians in this country are female. So some can do it safely.

What? Just stating simple statistics backed up by Department of Labor statistical evidence.
hahaha.

I say the above bit jokingly just to amuse Iris but the simple fact is MOST women can't do it and to be fair I also say MOST men can't do it either. Growing up in Minnesota me and my two brothers all helped out my dad on odd electrical jobs in the evenings and weekends (he is a licensed Journeyman and Master electrician) so all three of us put in enough hours as an apprentice to take the test and become an electrician ourselves. None of us did, it's a lot of freaking work that job. But in Minnesota the laws are pretty strict, you will pull permits and get inspections done for any electrical work. So it had to be done by a professional. Which does raise the price of housing but since you're house is less likely to burn down it seems fair. As a result we got to see how it is SUPPOSED to be done -- by professionals.

When I moved to Missouri it was a stark contrast. Outside of cities, out in rural areas, there's not much in the way of code regulating electrical work, you don't need permits or inspections at all in most places. So to save money everybody and their cousin think they know how to wire houses and make changes to the electrical system. (want to build a new addition off the side of the house? Call your cousin, he wired his garage.) Which, because in reality they don't have a clue about proper electrical code, means electrical wiring caused fires happen at a much higher rate and insurance prices go up here in Missouri.

And have poor grammar if you WERE a man. ;)

(I say this jokingly as I'm a fan of sexist jokes)

you're obviously not a sub lol

I am more of a sub than a dom, but I am not a slave. I like to be persuaded or asked, not forced. I can be a very accommodating person if my respect has been earned.

If you had a 3 pin plug in the UK this wouldn't be an issue

Torture I tell you! Why would someone do this?! It's unspeakable! I just...wow. Some people...

Although I'm pretty turned on by the thought of having to ask permission.

Hmm....thoughts? hehe
I just hide the wife's. Why blow that money on a lock?

That wasn't the edit button! Oops.

I also like to remove the white cover and just leave the hard metallic inside of the exposed. She's kind of afraid of that. :-D

You're such a booger, JerryButt. However, you'll see, there might only be 2.2% of female electricians, but that's merely because the other 9.4% decided to go big or go home and became Electrical Engineers. :p

And I still haven't figured out how to quote separate posts, and I do agree with Samurai. Those womenz need to get back to makin' babies and supper. Gawrsh. Learn your place, 9.4%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Scroll through the previous posts in the reply window, or open the reply in a new tab. Find what you want to quote. Type inside brackets quote="<username>", select part you want to quote, paste, add the /quote in brackets afterwards.

Viola! you can now quote multiple posts. :D

and telling male electricians how they should do their job, yeah, thats a very plausible explanation for this low %.

It's easier than that. Scroll as you suggested, find what you want to quote, highlight with your mouse, click quote (in the top right corner of each historical post).

Are you on a crusade against female electricians or just females in general herby?

At first I just assumed it was a daring sexist joke, and though perhaps not the smartest move I understood it. Now I'm not sure where this is headed. If you are seriously looking for a reason there is a low percentage of female electricians, I suggest it's more than anything to do with continuing stigma from both men and women about women taking up those last bastions of male employment.

Women who work in traditionally male-dominated, hands-on, blue collar jobs are forced to do all their work better than any equivalent male partners to succeed. If they're judged on their work at all it will always be after their looks, or their mothering abilities or any other 'female' trait that has nothing to do with her job.

In some cases women even suffer intimidation, sexual harassment, and even rape etc. Apparently it's common for women in such jobs to have to go through constant sexual 'jokey' comments ('hey Iris, need a screw?' etc) that if she didn't laugh at, was called a 'frigid bitch', and if she did respond to she's 'asking for it'.

Imagine having to go through all that for a job, a normal job. Most people wouldn't bother, would they?

Ugh man, don't you get it? The reason there are only 2.2% female electricians are attitudes like yours.

My aunt and her husband built houses together. He did the carpentry and my aunt did all the plumbing and wiring--she was licensed for both. The low percentage is just like Jupe said...a so-called non-traditional job which is slowly becoming accepted. Oh, and I have an online lady friend who's an ironworker.

I really do not understand why the gender of a person would affect their ability to do electrical work. I have watched Mixxi splice wires on cam before, and she is a woman.
Yeah it would be a massive coincidence if humans evolved so that women were terrible at something that we invented.

Let's say, that I like the way PlayboyMegan did hit back much more then your response, although you both are right.

Fuck it, forced to tell that it's joking/daring/defy, the worse that can happen when making fun, I'm now going to mock in a corner, that nobody understands me, that life sucks, that everybody is against me, that nobody loves me, always the last one at gym, and I bet your posting gets many thanks and this one none, and FC Twente did lost from Ajax, no beer anymore in the fridge.

Nah I think we understand you - you made a sexist joke and then instead of backing down when challenged you continued to be sexist.

PS, maybe you like Megan's post better than mine because she has tits, sexist :p
