When I left FL, among other things I lost access to a really awesome comic shop. I looked at several shops in my immediate area when I moved out here, and they were all... well... dismal.

Then today I found this place. Yeah, I'm a happy Weasel now. :D

:crybaby: There isn't enough nerd culture here! So jealous!

I'm lucky. In the NW, there's always been a good comics and gaming culture, which means there's always been good comic shops around where I've lived. In my hometown, I've been shopping at the same place for 20 years, now, and they've only grown bigger and gotten friendlier in that time.

The one here in my town is a mixed bag. It's a rather large gaming type store. They have a lot of miniatures for card and role playing games (pokemon, magic, warhammer...). And half the store is devoted to tables for gaming and the plywood sheets with different settings built onto them for fantasy games. They also have a really great selection of science fiction and fantasy books, way better than a barnes and noble in just that subject. But they don't carry a single comic book. I don't know why that is, I should ask them next time I'm in there.

I used to own a comic book and trading card shop. It was small but I tried to make up for it with customer service. I had many collectors as customers and one service I offered was allowing them to request comic books they wanted to be set aside for them. Each shipment I got, I went through and pulled copies for them. That way they got the best condition books that weren't pawed over. I had several loyal customers, but was unable to continue when my business partner bailed on me. But it was fun while it lasted.
