So I bought a Logitech 9000 webcam without realizing it won't work on my Mac. I bought it off Amazon so I can't return, so I figure I'll let you guys know first before I list it on eBay in case any of you want it. It runs about $100 but I'll sell it to you guys for $50; just shoot me a message either here or on MFC (my profile is in my signature).

Also, what are good webcams that work for Mac computers? I went to Best Buy and they didn't have ANY. I can't even do shows right now because apparently my built-in cam keeps freezing :-/

Many girls with a mac and the logitech 9000 swear by it.. What's wrong with it? I used it for almost a year and a half on two different macs?

Just because the box says it won't work, doesn't mean it won't actually work. I just had to plug it in and it worked immediately. Sure, you can't change the settings as easily as on a PC, but there isn't a SINGLE cam out there for mac that will.

I did plug it in, multiple times, and it never read it. The software won't run and CamTwist didn't seem to work for me, so I don't know what else to do.

Perhaps it's actually entirely broken?

Before you send it back or sell it, try hooking it up to someone's PC to see if it is the cam that's broken or if it just doesn't like your MAC, could save you some hassle if someone decided that they are going to test it after you return it and then stiff you for the cost of the cam because it "WORKS FINE" on the test system.

Re: Selling my Logitech 9000! What are good webcams for the

Not sure how you're doing on this, but camtwist and the web-broadcaster can be tricky to get working if you dont start them up in the right order... it could be that your cam is not working because you've started it as a source before opening the flash window, or that your browser doesn't pick up camtwist because camtwist was started after the browser was.

its a pain in the arse, i'm pretty sure i've had every possible problem, but i did get it working and my 9000 works dandy on my apple machine.

hit me up and let me know exactly which hurdle you're running into. you say "camtwist doesnt work for you," what exactly happens?

Re: Selling my Logitech 9000! What are good webcams for the

So I got my logitech 9000 working using Manycam, but I have people both on MFC and Streamate saying my camera quality and sound quality are bad. I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions, either to fix this or webcams that actually WORK on a Mac? :-/

Your cam and sound quality using the Logitech should be great. Have you tried testing it out on Skype to double check the quality there? Have you tried Speedtest to check that your internet connection is good? What camera were you using before?

I use it on Skype, but it's been a long while, so I should try again. I'll try speedtest but MFC always says my bandwidth is excellent. I was using my built-in cam before, which didn't lag as much but the picture quality wasn't as good :(

I have a Mac & use a Logitech 9000. My sound & picture quality are fine, albeit, when I sign on MFC, I do have to use my buil-in Mic, & not the logitech one. But my picture is good. My mac is new, only a year old, & I don't have to use any weird sources to get it to work. Seems a bit weird to me. If you want a different on meant specifically for macs, just search amazon for "webcams for mac" and it will come up with a list of mac compatible webcams.
