Ew! I am not going to be a hooker!

Correct me if I'm wrong ladies. But isn't porn in a sense escorting with just being video taped? I mean I understand there is a director in all. But I'm sure when someone pays for sex, he gets to direct. And either way your basically sleeping with a stranger. It kinda sucks that it is illegal, we've got porn, cam models, and strippers. It seems like we've accepted adult sex work, why is escorting still illegal in so many states? It would be better to legalize it. That way ladies who choose that as a option can be safe.

Honestly, escorting is a VERY lucrative business venture, IF YOU ARE IN AN AREA THAT SUPPORTS IT. I've done research, and a few areas seem to be good for it. New Orleans? Not so much. (Ironic since it's a convention town). Atlanta? Apparently super great!

You know, some "Hookers" are moms, daughters, sisters, even brothers, and sons. It's a business that's as old as time, and will not be going away anytime soon.
A lot of people hit it on the head, but I just gotta voice my disappointment. Not anger, disappointment.
Before non-sexworkers can appreciate all sex work, we have to do it too. We have to stand up for all sex workers. Not just the porn stars, or cam people...But the phone sex operators, the escorts, the sugar babies, Everything.
It's a shame you think that one thing is more demeaning than the other. When it's not.
It's a job for someone to put food on the table. To live. And I can't fault any person alive who wants to work and provide for themselves and their families. I don't curse the construction worker having to do the (many) road jobs around the city.

I hope you can realize one day that, it's no better or worse than anything else, and maybe not think from such a place that is negative with stereotypes.

Wow! People have told me my whole life that I was overly-sensitive and I take things too seriously, but I must say, you girls have me beat!

People express opinions to me all the time that I disagree with but I just ignore them and go on.... especially on the internet, come on people... if you get that offended about one little off-handed remark you must really be miserable. :crybaby:

I appreciate all the helpful advice and feedback I've had from you ladies and I really wish you the best. Seems I've worn out my welcome in this forum, and that's okay with me.

Keep being offended, keep being angry and let some person you don't even know from the internet ruin your day. I'm leaving with a smile on my face, and I'm going to have an awesome day today!

:-D   :p :hello2:

Although her comment was probably not the best one considering you all work in the sex industry. And She could have worded this differently. But you ladies have to remember we are all human, and when someone feels attacked there not going to come back in a positive way. It takes a exceptionally strong minded individual to do that. At least she said she appreciated you girls for all the advice that was given. Lets take the show the bad girls club for example (yes I've watched it, do not make fun of me lol) Everyone will jump on the new girl for one wrong comment and instead of apologizing, she will typically A) hide in a corner B)Fight back and not admit she was wrong and contradict everything she said. All you needed was ONE person to say that was a wrong comment. And she probably would have came to her senses and apologized and agreed that you are correct she was wrong. But instead, multiple people jumped on her for saying something that she may have not thought through before typing it.

FYI

Whenever the language is worded as "you girls..." "you ladies..." "you models..." it sounds very condescending as if you're wagging a finger at people, even if you never meant it that way. Ultimately it can give the wrong message and hit a nerve with some folks. I would suggest rewording into "I" or "we" statements.

Example:
But we have to remember we are all human

At least she said she appreciated everyone's advice...

Lmao I'm not going to change my lingo because you do not like it. You can perceive it anyway you want. If you look at it in a negative light, then that is a personal problem. Your suggesting me to not do something I have been doing for 20 plus years. Probably not realistic.

You know why your recipe thread went to shit? Same reason. When multiple people tell you the way you interact on a forum is either rude or being (perhaps wrongly) construed as rude then perhaps you should reexamine your written communication.

You don't have to change anything you don't want to. But as you've stated yourself:

You can't have a tone on the internet.

So I think wording becomes incredibly important.

Wouldn't you want other folks to perceive your message exactly the way you intended it, instead it being misinterpreted or lighting a fire...? That was another point i was trying to make, hence my suggestion. I mean... Not having one's messages misconstrued by others is key to communication, especially when inputting on a forum

Your suggesting me to not do something I have been doing for 20 plus years. Probably not realistic.
If you're saying you can't change out of habit, i have the perfect solution: proofread your messages a couple times before hitting the 'submit' button.

It wouldn't really matter how I said things, people are going to interpret it the way they want to. Once again, that is all a personal problem. Its like when someone calls you stupid. You could take it to heart, you could believe it yourself. Or you can not let it bother you because you know it yourself it is not true. Just like when I got offended when kaylee had said that I sound like I am being sexist. I had the option to look at that in a negative way and call her out for calling me sexist. Which is exactly what I did and I apologized for it, and I should have stopped myself from getting out of hand because I know I am not sexist. You can not like the way I talk or write things out. You can take what I say negatively. But I am not being condescending and I can not change how you view that. I'm not here to please everyone. I am here to express my opinion the way I want to.

Having been to couple's counseling and counseling as a teenager, your 'lingo' would be picked apart as attacky by any therapist. Making you statements, instead of I statements, is one of the worst ways to force someone on the defensive.

"You girls...." Implies that all of the problem is with who you are addressing. That is both attacking and narcissistic, because that specific wording implies you are not in the wrong at all. When speaking with others, especially in heated or potentially heated, topics it is best to make I statements. "I feel, I did, I want..."

Given the amount of threads that have been derailed by this newcomer and defensive ramblings, I am close to time-outing and locking threads.

I'll start with this one, since the OP is gone, but let this be the warning that this behavior cannot continue in other threads.
