I know a couple models who take gift cards for skype and use those gift cards to buy things that you wouldn't normally think were available on Amazon. Stuff like Red Bull, Clorox Clean Up wipes, shampoo, ect. Sure the gift cards aren't legal tender for paying rent, but if a model can get gift cards to pay for some of her basic necessities and household items, that means she doesn't have to spend her MFC paycheck on those items. I also know a couple models who will allow a guy who wants to take them private when they're in the middle of a countdown and don't want to break the momentum to go on skype with them at a later time. Another example: a guy is a regular in a model's room and he gets moved to working nights or the model changes her hours and suddenly they're never online at the same time. Skype gives them the option to set up a time to get together for a session at a time that works for both of them. As for setting up rates per minute / per session, that's between the model (and sometimes the individual member) and there are often extenuating circumstances that put the rest of the world in no position to pass judgement on their decisions.

Pulled these off a couple friend's wishlists (and added a few of my own) to show why Amazon gift cards are with a few exceptions, just as good as cash

If you're going to buy off of Amazon, you have to buy in big bulk packages to make it worthwhile, and all those extras will send shipping through the roof (unless you pay for a premium Amazon account).

I don't want to spend $13 on five big bottles of dish soap, pay for shipping, and wait for them to show up at my house when I could spend $1.95 at the store for one bottle that will last almost the whole year.

The dog food you listed is $18 after shipping costs, and if my dog runs out of food I either have to pay for dog food with cash (which I might not be able to afford, because I've taken a lot of payment in gift cards) or feed the dog scraps while I wait for the food to come - assuming, of course, it ships and shows up at my house. I had a microwave bought for me off of Amazon that never came (the order was eventually canceled), so it's not like stuff is guaranteed to show up when it's supposed to. We waited for more than a month after the time it was supposed to be shipped. If that had been something that was vital to me (well, it kind of was because the majority of the food I had you had to nuke to eat), I would have been fucked.

Amazon gift cards are with a few exceptions, just as good as cash

The only time Amazon gift cards are viable are when the model is looking at an object she wants that she doesn't really need at hand.

If it's something she actually really needs, like food, a co-pay, emergency equipment because something broke, Amazon gift cards are about as good as Monopoly money.

They are only useful if the model sees an item she does not immediately need, is willing to wait to have it, is willing to pay shipping, is willing to (often) pay more, and is willing to take limited disposable income over universal cash.

Gift cards may be useful for a model who is not struggling, but for a lot of models who work hard just to pay bills they are worthless. I would rather have running water in my apartment than a 3-pack of conditioner.

I have $170 in Amazon gift cards right now. That balance has been sitting there for some time. I can tell you that there have been many times I would have liked to see that money in cash and not frozen on Amazon.

Anyone else really sick of reading shit that MEMBERS DEEM TO BE GOOD, JUST AS GOOD, BETTER, OR WHAT THE FUCK EVER it may be for the MODELS? I mean, surely you know everything about our lives, && how shit works, since you are of course an experienced cam model that has to deal with these types of retards day in && day out, so, why shouldn't you && a few other know it all's decide what's best for us by telling us, WHATS JUST AS GOOD AS CASH.

Know what? What's just as good as cash... Hmm. Let me think about that. Oh. Yeah. TOKENS. TOKENS ARE JUST AS GOOD AS FUCKING CASH.

Now, can we stop having people come in here && tell models WHY we should be accepting other methods of payment. Models can do whatever the fuck they feel is best for them. They can accept, or not accept whatever they want. If a model doesn't wanna take YOUR payment option, find another model that will.

While I agree with you for the most part SNATCH, in this case a gentleman was actually telling us what a model friend of his thinks. While I would've rather heard it from the model herself, she might not be on this site. I appreciate that he took the time and risk to put himself out there and present another view on the whole amazon gift cards.

He is right- in SOME situations, they can be as good as cash. But not all, or even most. And that's where the problem lies- men will find out what works for one model, and think it works for all models. Even though we are all different, and in different situations. The truth is, for some models, Amazon gift cards are awesome, because they earn all they need from tokens and amazon gift cards allow them to buy something that they want, but don't really need, and can't afford without the gift cards. But for many models, if any of their income switched from cash to amazon gift cards, they would be in a bad situation.

I have this problem. It seems as much as I can earn is as much as I can earn, no matter what form it takes. So when I make an amazon gift card, I actually earn less on my paycheck. And since I earn barely enough to cover everything... not good.

Yes, I hate having to fight with a guy when they try to convince me to accept a payment I'm not willing to. They want to know why not every model is okay with doing the same things, and what they don't realize is that each model is her own brand. Just because we're all working the same site doesn't mean we all have the same situation.

I've noticed that the first time you allow someone to pay for a Skype chat with an Amazon e-gift card (instead of tokens/money), he'll keep expecting to be able to pay the same way from that point on. So if he comes back again wanting a Skype show and you tell him to send money this time, he'll be like "But you let me send an Amazon e-gift card last time." LOL.

I choose not to have an Amazon wish list, so I don't get gifts in the mail from guys. It'd be great to receive e-gift cards, but I'd be afraid that guys would send those instead of tipping me, and that wouldn't be good.

One time a guy from AdultWork (UK cam site) e-mailed me a $380 Amazon e-gift card. That was a super awesome, pleasant surprise!

I have to stop offering 30 minutes of Skype chat as a raffle prize. That's a lot of time...especially if I'm getting guys who think I'm gonna be fucking myself for 30 minutes straight non-stop. LOL. My intention is to first chat with you for a little bit (you did WIN the session, so you don't have to sit there and watch your private show tokens decrease) and then use my toy. NOT 30 minutes of silence as you watch me wear myself out. That's not fun, and it's awkward as hell.

If you'd rather have naughty toy play than spend one-on-one quality time with me, then 15 minutes of Skype (hell, not even that) should be enough.

This totally made me think of how some guys think that just because their last girlfriend/girl they fucked likes a certain something, that EVERY chick will like it. HAHAHA.

Reading through this thread reminds me of how much I hate Skype and why I only use it as a prize. The reason I no longer offer Skype for tokens is because guys who barter with you over your prices make you feel like you're not worth the money. I charged 400 tokens for 10 minutes and 600 for 20 minutes and would frequently get asked to do 15-20 minute shows for 200 tokens or less. 200 tokens is 10 dollars to me. You want me to fuck myself silly for 20 minutes for YOUR enjoyment for 10 dollars? That's a humiliating number when you think of what girls actually do for you in a Skype show.

I don't accept gift cards or wishlist items as payment. Just like every other model that posted here, I can't pay my bills with an e-gift card.

I've raised mine too. I used to charge 400 tokens for 10 minutes, but now it's 600 tokens for 10 minutes (same price as a private show).

Here is how skype show convos usually go in my room:

"Do you have skype?"
"Yes, but you don't want a skype show from me."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't accept Paypal and it costs the same as a private show on MFC."
*dude leaves the room*

Yeah, pretty much...lol. They either leave the room when you tell them you don't accept Paypal, or when you tell them that it's the same price as a private show.
