I think predators are interesting, so long as I don't have to watch any of the killing. I encourage my dogs to chase vermin and bugs that come into the house so that I don't have to. It keeps our balance normal and lets them use their natural instincts in a safe way. When we visit my mom's, they don't have a choice about catching small animals because mom makes them stay in the yard until they catch the mice from the garage and we don't give them dinner until all the pests are gone (though I've yet to see them complain). They've gotten pretty good at working together to make a kill and even seem to divide it up fairly for snacking. If I didn't encourage that behavior in the proper avenues they'd never get to use those natural drives and I just don't think that's good for them.

Though please don't read this as me making sport of killing small animals, I just let my dogs do what comes naturally for their species. We do NOT seek out small animals on purpose.

My plain ole DSH tuxedo cat is an excellent fly hunter he's caught several mice as well. My other cat, the cute cuddly orange tabby is useless LOL but I love him just the same.

My Rhodesian Ridgeback thinks flies are great snacks too..eghh...

The big cats are some of my favorite animals to watch wildlife documentaries on. I really love any wildlife documentary on South African predators...wild dogs, hyenas, lions, leopards etc etc. My favorite animal is the Cheetah.

Nah, predator just means a lot of things in the english language. Predator-animal, hockey team, sex offender, the movie, etc.

Have you ever seen how a farm works? Many times things are butchered with less "compassion" that the automated factories. By all means, it's great to support local farmers but unless you have actually lived/worked/seen it in its detail, its kind of a wishful statement.

I'm just remembering all of my favorites...

Golden Eagles are one of my favorite predators. They are MONSTERS! They were trained by Mongolians to kill wolves, they hunt mountain goats, they hunt deer, etc. These things are awesome!
