Hi y'all! I searched for podcast threads and didn't find any, so I want to know: what podcasts do you listen to, and when?

I listen when I'm jogging or doing housework, and my current favorites are:
  • McElroy Family podcasts: MBMBaM, Sawbones, The Adventure Zone - comedy, medical history/comedy, and tabletop RPG/comedy
  • LeVar Burton Reads: Reading Rainbow for adults :inlove:
  • Gaming: Waypoint Radio, The Polygon Show, Fave This, The Giant Beastcast
  • My Favorite Murder: true crime/comedy
I'm looking for recs for:
  • documentary/journalism podcasts that aren't relentlessly heavy
  • podcasts (any subject) hosted by women & nonbinary folks

I primarily listen to podcasts at work, on long drives or vegging through video games.

Sports and comedy are my main choices. But I do listen to some paranormal, true crime and financial ones as well.

My favorite is a comedy podcast called the Crabfeast. And a newer fave in comedy is this past weekend with theo von.

The only podcasts that I listen to that hosted by women are:

Sordid Details by April Richardson and Millie whose last name I'll butcher trying to spell. Because of their schedules they don't release episodes weekly. But its mostly comedy driven. April also used to run a podcast called go bayside where she and other comedians/actors would watch saved by the Bell and disect/review the show.

Sports? With Katie Nolan - sports and pop culture mix

Brain candy with Sarah and susie from MTV's the challenge. They talk about all kinds of stuff, but I originally started listening to them because of the challenge behind the scenes talk.

The Guilty Feminist will deff hit your women/non binary buttons. The more recent ones are more inclusive.

The Butterfly Effect if you're interested in the distribution of labour and money in porn.

Since you're into My Favorite Murder, I recommend The Last Podcast on the Left. It is my very favorite podcast right now. It's irreverent and hilarious, very well-researched and informative. It's got a huge back catalog to go through, and it's been consistently high quality throughout the years.

Since you're into McElroy/Polygon stuff, I recommend The History of Fun Podcast. Given the subject (actual historical accounting of things people consider fun) it's pretty lighthearted and entertaining, and surprisingly full of snark.

Since you've listed The Adventure Zone, give a try to Hello, from the Magic Tavern. It's actually a really fresh premise among a an oversaturated category of fantasy RPG podcasts these days. A guy from Earth has a podcast where he interviews the characters that populate the fantasy realm he's found himself trapped in.

Every Little Thing is a light-hearted, journalism-y podcast. It's pretty funny IMO. it's my favorite to listen to because it makes me happy and fills me with wonder/amusement. One of their recent episodes looked into whether people should sit or hover in public restrooms. The amount of times "butt cheeks" is said is high.

I really enjoy Sword and Scale even though the host Mike Boudet is a douche. It's a really good true crime podcast. Lots of court and police recordings.

Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History is *amazing.* I think he has a new season coming out soon.

The NoSleep podcast is great. They do well produced dramatic readings of creepypasta/internet short horror stories.

Lastly, Philosophize This! is an awesome overview of Western philosophy. The host is humorous and really well spoken.

I think Revisionist History would be most up your alley. Malcolm Gladwell is extremely progressive and an incredible storyteller. Some of the episodes are pretty heavy but many are just interesting.

I recently finished listening to "s town" which was amazing, it was made by the same people that produced "serial". Other good crime podcasts are "cold case files", "case file" and "trace". I also loved "my dad wrote a porno" it's hilarious.

As mentioned above, Sports? with Katie Nolan
Also:
That's What She Said (Sarah Spain)
Sex With Emily
Free Cookies (Kate Fagan)

And, as an outlier, The Dan LeBatard Show with Stugotz. It's on ESPN Radio and you won't get it with one listen.

Spirits! It's hosted by two women. They get drunk and talk about mythology and ghost stories. They're both huge fans of The McElroy brothers too.

And they're also involved in Join the Party which is very heavily influenced by TAZ and, I have been promised, very gay. I haven't listened to Join the Party yet - I'm suscribed though for when I'm up to date on a couple of others.
