The color simply denotes what type of member they are or how recently they have bought/tipped tokens.

On CB the users color is up to them, its based off the amount of tokens they've tipped as Ann mentioned. I recently learned that you could have a dark purple member in your room that chooses to remain light blue. You can change your own user name color for your room in the setting wheel at the top of your chat box
