When I see a lady in platform heels I have a bit of mixed feelings.
Wile walking on flat ground in a straight line. They can be very sexy.
But when the footing less than ideal, they seem a bit awkward and look down right pain full.

I may be the odd man out on this.
But for me I would say lady's, please take a page from the guys hand book and go for comfort. :thumbleft:
Its easier to enjoy yourself if your comfortable. :twocents-02cents:

So whats your view?

I love platform heels.

Like makeup, dresses, and other girly items, I wear them because they are pretty and I like pretty things. I wear them to feel put together and feminine, not to impress anyone.

Honestly... one of my favourite and most comfortable pairs of boots has a 2.5" platform and a 5" heel (hah, knew I had a pic, I actually call em "sensible" right here :p). They beat the hell out of regular heels because they are effectively only a 2.5" heel, when it comes down to how high on my tippy toes I'm standing. There are plenty of comfortable heels as well, it just depends on construction and how well it fits your foot. I prefer heels or platforms because of how awesome they make my butt look and because I'm already 5'10" and being intimidating amuses me. I'm usually able to manage pretty good comfort at the same time, so it's the best of both worlds.

I'm a boots girl. I own three pairs of shoes; flat boots, "sexy" boots, and a pair of heels left over from my stripper days that collect dust in my changing room.

I love shoes of all types. That said, it depends on my activities for the day as to what I plan on wearing.

Going dancing? I might 'suck it up' and wear platform heels or sky high stilettos.

Going hiking or walking around in the dirt? Hiking boots or good tennis shoes for sure.

Going shopping or on a girls' day out? Definitely something cute, possibly heels but it either has to be comfortable and provide good support or I'll back back ups.

Going swimming? Flip flops for sure.

Running errands in town? My converse.

Treating myself to a date? My favorite leather or suede heeled boots for sure. LOVE my boots!

Heels do not do anything for me, but I have bought them before for models who liked them. Some of the gifts are really for me, but heels are for the model, unless they have a bunch of buckles, straps, or other fasteners. I love complicated clothing for some unknown to me reason.

Three months after AVN I can finally feel all of my toes from my high heeled weekend! Ahh - I was stubborn. Didn't want to be that girl in vegas who took her shoes off.

Platforms aren't so bad, but I don't own any because I'm already happy with my height and essentially never wear high heels in general.

I remember reading about that when you first posted it. I'm glad you're back to normal! I've had the same thing happen! Always have ballet flats in my bag now...

I feel like platforms work as boots or wedges but... Strappy heal platforms look weird to me. Idk. They work on strippers because I'm normally focused on "holy wow, I'm pretty sure she just levitated" more than her shoes and I know they can help with spins sometimes. But otherwise, do not like.

i love em, but i hate em!
My closet is full of heels, but i still wear my nikes everyday...
i only have one pair of platform heels, and i wish i didn't buy them... cause my ankles just can't take it :crybaby:
but i love seeing them in my closet, cause they are fucking pretty!

dunno what you call em in english, but i love the heels that are fully closed, but are pretty high

^^Wedges

I :h: wedges. :D I have a pair of leather wedge boots that are to die for and are so comfy. I could walk the mall in them all day. Unfortunately they need repairing before they can be safely worn again but I'm not tossing them yet!

Heels with a platform are easier to walk in, IMO. Even though they're usually higher and more dramatic they feel more balanced on my foot than a heel lacking the platform.
A lot of heels are being made with a concealed platform in the front these days, probably for this reason.

I don't wear them often, though. I own one pair of heels, one pair of sneakers, and a ton of boots.

I am 6' 3" tall so I love a woman in heels. BUT my wife can fall over just standing in her bare feet (poor balance and a weak ankle) so no heels for her. She is one foot shorter then I am so she could really use the boost too.

I would be a widower if my wife even tried to use those.

I have a shoe problem. I so many heels that I don't wear due to lack of occasion, but when I have an excuse, you bet I whip out those sexy pumps! Platforms are awesome, because they let you have an even higher heel with less strain on the foot, and tend to be easier to walk in. Interesting note, I'm less likely to sprain my ankle while in heels and/or intoxicated than while in flats and/or sober.

What my mind is puzzling over is this type of shoe. I could see me trying to put my heel down and breaking my ankle! And I've seem them without that bit of sole behind the platform, which seems even scarier to me.

And then, of course, there are these little ankle-breakers.

The only possible explanation I can think of is training wheels for ballet.

I used to dance on pointe and these would definitely not be used for that.
There is something called a Dori shoe which is a pointe shoe with a heel, but that heel is small.

The ones you posted are probably decorative. Especially with the gems on the toe box, I really can't see them as having any practical function.
