It's just a very strange image. You could recreate it if you tried, but it would still look really weird and disjointed. I'm pretty sure I know the image they got the inspiration for this from, but they did it backwards so it looks wrong.
TOTALLY agree! It really is a great example of poor judgement on the editors part. Though I don't "think" anything was cut from it, it's still an odd posture.
Sorry I got all geeky on ya'll. I work a lot with a photographer and sometimes get a bit too "in the zone" on things. :D I'm not good at "turning off"
The more I look at it the less clear it is. Whatever it is though, it was definitely poor decision making somewhere high up in the chain. Now I want a model to see if I can recreate the missing segments without photoshop. Lol.

Hahaha! I'm glad I'm not the only one dorking out all Mythbusters style on it! I really should find a hobby...

Ooop just wanted to point out my over usage of quotations... not really sure what was up there.
Oh omg! So I have found some REALLY bad photoshopping on MM, must go digging to share!

I just spent several minutes in a mirror trying to copy it. I think I got close, but I do not know why a photographer would tell a model to strike the contorted pose I did to do it.

Shoot, I love Mythbusters. Watch that show all the time.

Now I just need some poor, unsuspecting model to convince to bend around in weird positions for me. Maybe I can call someone who works with my school.
