I appreciate the information, but I don't appreciate being referred to as "ignorant" or "stupid".
And just so everyone else knows, I'm not trying to start drama. I'm only defending myself.
This is not meant to be offensive. It sounds like you are in a touchy mood and I tend to be a bit blunt with things, so I'm warning you about that beforehand.
I don't read where he called you stupid. He defined it in general terms... which might be implied to be an attack on you. BUT, I just want to be clear, in case this comes up in a future conversation with me.
If I say that you are ignorant of something, I do not mean that you are stupid. I simply mean that you have no knowledge of it. I will admit full ignorance when it comes to various cultures, various points of view, and other things. I do not think that ignorance is necessarily a bad thing. I DO think that willful ignorance on a topic a person is attempting to DEBATE is a bad thing. (which, you weren't attempting to debate it, you were just throwing out there something you had heard to see what other people thought.)
I do not think that stating an opinion, or something like what I said was uncalled for even though I haven't made any research into B17. All I know is that the B vitamins that do exist give energy. Ignorance in passing remarks, as long as we are open to admitting that maybe we don't know what we're talking about, is perfectly reasonable. After all, no one knows everything. Therefore, everyone has something about which they are ignorant.
You are ignorant about some things. I am ignorant about a lot of things. Arachnid is ignorant about some things. And there are some things that everyone in the world are ignorant about. (Who really KNOWS how the world was created? truthfully?)
One of my pet peeves is when people equate ignorance and stupidity, when they have different meanings.
