OnlyFans is apparently banning depictions of ‘sexually explicit conduct’ starting in October, per this report: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-sexually-explicit-videos-starting-in-october

Sounds like they’re caving to the wishes of potential investors. What is notable is they claim nude photos and videos will still be allowed “provided they’re consistent with OnlyFans’ policy,” which seems pretty vague considering it could mean the difference between a model making a living or getting banned.

Models, curious what you think about this, especially those of you that have OF.

Considering any article quotes a "spokesperson", it's hard to tell what is actually coming from OF and what isn't. The same (or different?) "spokesperson" made a statement in an article months ago basically stating "don't worry OF is never going to get rid of adult content" (something along those words).

So, until something is confirmed I'm not worrying about it.

It's a damn shame. And I know it's not easy convincing some of these guys (who are dedicated to one site) to make their way over to another site and input their debit/credit card info there. But yeah, they'll need to make their way over to other platforms to see more of the good stuff. ManyVids, MFC Share (MFC), Clips4Sale, IWantClips, etc. Maybe that MV Crush Club feature on ManyVids will become more popular now.

Original article posted on some nothing site with no sources, bloomberg picked it up (they referenced the site in the article). wrtier of the original article got pushed into publishing a badly photoshopped announcement and put a url from the page it was supposedly on, the url for that "announcement" is the transparency for data requests, nothing to do with announcements or future plans.

Just another time to add to the list when actual news outlets dont do their damn job of vetting the authenticity of stories before publishing.

*EDIT* so the dude got called out in the thread about the link at the bottom of the page not having the announcement and asking where it came from... his repsonce is priceless
They emailed it to me directly
So out of everyone they could have told, any of their creators, adult news sites, reputable news sites, they decide to email this information to some no name wanna be jerno writing for some nothing website? 😂

Yeah, the sourcing in the article could have been a little clearer for sure. It uses wording like “the company said” and “OnlyFans said,” which implies it’s not leaked information but official company statement. Which usually comes from a paid spokesperson, but those people are usually named in stories like this. Especially if they’re speaking on behalf of the company on a policy matter.

I’m guessing the article was just poorly constructed by the writer and editor (if any).

It happens incredibly often lately and it is so frustrating. I especially like this guy's (the one who's Tweet you posted) reply in the tweet thread about the "full statement from OF"

IKR, you have a site with 0 traffic, telling people they dont get to make money anymore fixes that problem.... guess the part that sucks for him is that bloomberg stole his traffic and is ad revanue 😂

@KingMarti Did Bloomberg reference his article? I don’t see them mention that guy or Axios anywhere in the link I posted. Unless they removed the reference you mention.

Yep the articles changed and there's some new paragraphs too (which is the reason I noticed it was changed) when I first read it it finished talking about them wanting to get the business valued at 50% of it's current revanue (which still dosnt make sense to me). I could have been thinking of another one, but when I was going through them all looking for the original announcement that dosnt exist they all had a line like "Following the failed round for funding only fans is going to be changing it's policy's as reported by", the one on bloomberg looks like they are still doing clean up on it.

Also the independent is pumping out the content, they must be loving all the traffic, new article: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/onlyfans-pornography-ban-sex-workers-b1905614.html

When you are pumping out content at that pace it's really no wonder why nothing is fact checked.

It’s also got OnlyFans as Twitter’s top trending topic right now in the United States. The silver lining to all the chatter is it may force OF to publicly confirm or deny the report. If they’re aware of erroneous news citing their company as the source, surely they’ll want to set the record straight if the reporting is false.

I wouldnt hold my breath for that, the last couple times it's happened onlyfans has just sat back with the popcorn and said nothing 😂 Although you didnt have reputable companies spreading it too then so who knows.

This is the most imminent problem with panic articles being posted. While nothing is even proven true, gossip gets to our supporters:

Statement from OnlyFans to Xbiz:

The Verge also now saying OnlyFans sent them that. Either OF is actually sending the same written statement to different media entities or they’ve all simultaneously decided to pretend they got it independently.

Well at least OF showed some platform a formula
There are already other platforms with the exact formula. They just aren't as big as OF because OF ran their site in a much more mainstream way.

If OF really sent this statement to a ton of journalist outlets before telling the people on the platform, that's really shitty. I really hope that's not the situation. And if it IS a real statement, the interpretation of it has already been discussed to not be as extreme as made out to be.

was just thinking the same exact thing. it would be completely messed up if they didnt even send a mass message to all the creators.

im going to assume the worst and prepare for a ban on sexual content starting october, but im not going to change anything about my page (for the time being).

in the meanwhile, just browsing around social media and platforms like this to see what others are saying

There wouldn't even be anything to gain from a strategy like that....

I left a year ago, the writing has been on the walls for a while. Bumping this thread in case anyone is looking for an alternative. I was nervous to switch but it ended up being a great move for my career and things have been better than ever. Regardless, this is a mess.

cant open it because i dont have permission, but looking to read about experiences moving platforms.

This is the healthiest way to approach the situation. I'm doing the same. Worst case scenario if it is true AND is as extreme as only "nudity" allowed, I will only have to slightly adjust how I curate my page, just remove the dildo/penetration content most likely. (But I really don't think it's going to be that extreme.)

I agree, and I and others are not so quick to believe that it's really happening that way.

Statement from OnlyFans to Xbiz:
Only they havnt posted from any official onlyfans account and it's not on the site updates section of onlyfans or on their blog. Looks like the same statement that that guy totally got emailed from onlyfans and didnt make it himself.

TBF they could clear this up in like 5 seconds just tweeting, by not doing that they have members cancelling subscriptions already getting ready to move to new platforms.

onlyfans social media team right now:

As a member I wondering what they are going to do about all the explicit content we purchased? Are we getting our money back if they remove it? They giving us a way to download it? I'm pretty sure all it will take is to screw this up with the wrong person for them to get sued by a member and have a second PR disaster on top of betraying sex workers.

Also this also means the MFC owner is betraying all of you for money too.

Some updates:

So is it just credit card risk or some attempt at commercially capitalising on a user base (and their data) that will soon disappear

I used to work for a media company. The story was published on a news wire service (like Reuters) and each media site rewrote it to fit the house style.
