Endless Forest isn't so much a game as it is an art project/environment simulator. There are no goals or "rules" really but its a sort of confusing/relaxing way to waste time.
Don't play it when you're baked though, then its scary

I decided to try it out since when I clicked the link I saw a bunch of weird human-faced deer--I like deer and live where there are way too many of them--plus, who doesn't like running around in the woods?

This game is definitely weird--so far all I've managed to do is run around and find other weird looking deer people--the soundtrack and sound effects are very well done and add to a kind of goofy atmosphere. After playing for a bit--I finally realized that I could click the weird pictures at the bottom of the screen to make my deer do all kinds of strange things--like making a mooing sound, kicking my hooves in the air, jump around, etc.

Generally I prefer games where there is at least something to do--but for a free game/interactive art project this is actually pretty cool. It's a fun time-killer, and when you don't feel like playing anymore you can just turn it off since you never actually feel like you need to finish a level or task.

And I totally agree, I would not want to play this game while stoned--deers with faces are just a little too creepy.

Another neat thing about the deer are the symbols above their heads. Each one is unique and I think its your character's name? You can also collect different feathers, masks etc for it. But you have to figure it out by playing.
I think theres a cult following with RP, fanart and fiction too, probably defunct now though.
And the deer look like the symbol of St Hubertus http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Hubert
AKA the Jagermeister Logo

Yeah the unique symbol generator that creates your glowing "halo name" is really pretty cool--I just took whatever the weird loopy shape thing it gave me at first was... but I kind of wish I had taken the time to generate a few more just to see what other types of symbols were possible.

I definitely also noticed that a lot of the other deer have cool masks and colors and feathers--but I haven't figured out exactly how to acquire these things--I'm also not exactly sure how to progress from a fawn into an adult deer. I'm assuming your deer will just eventually "grow up" after you've played for a while. I kind of want to avoid looking up a guide that explains what exactly one can do in this game--but so far I haven't figured all that much out.

Also--there are randomly dead looking deer all over the forest--I'm not sure if they are supposed to be sleeping or what--but they kind of look dead to me! I mooed at them and everything!

Let's do this.

I havent played in ages but I think you get the different parts from eating mushrooms or special ponds.
And the deer will become an adult after some hours in-game I think
The "dead" ones are just asleep because the player went away from the keyboard I *think*. You might also be able to use chatcommands to make them lie down and stuff? And dance?
Bleh I suck at remembering

Nice--thanks for the help. I went away from my own keyboard and the deer did lie down like that (although I'm still pretty sure that deer don't sleep that way lol), so I'm relieved to know their not dead. Also, it doesn't seem like there are any chat commands anymore--but you can do the things you mentioned by clicking strange looking pictures at the bottom of the screen. I need to mess with it more sometime---mooing at the other deer is really the most fun I've had thus far--but it's definitely got very cool artsy graphics & music--worth checking out. :thumbleft:
