2) Fake names. How do you come up with them?
Lily is my favorite name and it's close enough to my actual name that it doesn't make me feel like a completely different person on cam. (I'm weird that way.)
My name on MFC used to be Lily90x - '90 is my birthyear and there already was a Lily90 on MFC when I signed up, so I added a random x.
Bad choice.
There's really no reason for a model to have random numbers or letters in her name, it makes her seem impersonal IMO. What Evvie said about real-sounding names is very true. :thumbleft: I figured that out pretty early and asked on this forum for a name I could put behind "Lily" and someone suggested "Marie". I think the name sounds romantic and "girl next door" so it kinda suits me. I guess it depends on what kind of personality you have, or what kind of girl you want to portray. If you're more on the cheeky, or the very sexual side, you might want to pick a name that's more suitable to that. For example, if I was very sexual on cam and mostly did sexual shows rather than chatting and hanging out, I would have picked a much different name. Less [i:] sounds for sure!
Websites with interesting baby names are always a good place to look.
3) What kind of things do you wish you knew starting out? Any tips, advice? Have any websites or youtube videos that are good reads/watches?
- Have a good webcam from the beginning. Don't wait for your first money to buy a good cam.
I had a crappy Microsoft webcam from 2007 when I started out and it made my hair look black and my skin look white. I looked super unrealistic and weird on cam. If I hadn't had good photos on my profile, a bubbly personality and a lot of luck, I wouldn't have stood a chance during those first 2 weeks that I didn't have a better cam.
- ACF is all you need to look at for camming advice, believe me. I've found that advice on other sites can tend to lead girls in the wrong direction and don't even get me started on YouTube. As soon as you have a model account on a camsite, you can get verified as a model here and then you can get into the models only section which is full of great advice!
- There's NO reason to have basics and guests unmuted on MFC. I had basics and sometimes even guests unmuted during my first weeks of camming because I always thought I could "convert" them. I wasted way too much time talking to them and explaining that I wouldn't do things for free and they just kept begging.
Truth be told, if someone can't muster up at least $20 to become a premium, there's no reason they should have to talk to you. If you work in a store and someone comes in who doesn't even have a wallet, but keeps pestering you to give him freebies, would you give them to him or would you kindly ask him to leave so that you can turn your attention to paying customers?
