massively.

we would lose access to Twitter for a start. tumblr also has adult content and no age verification. All clipsites that have a clip preview before you sign in, so thats all of them that i know. Cam sites that allow nudity in free chat so mfc chaturbate etc etc

If you are not british then effects will be less, but if you have british customers and traffic then you can pretty much wave goodbye to them.

Yes we can get vpns, but many uk girls work on adultwork, if they detect you have a vpn they close your account and keep your money, there is no discussing it, account closed and goodbye. The article i read on Forbes also mentions they will get credit card providers on side, so if a guy cant pay for the services then a vpn isnt going to help me. Yes i work on American sites but the majority of my customers are still British, partly because of the hours I work.

Consenting adults are being censored to 'save the children' while i do not believe kids should have access to porn, i also do not believe that censoring adults is safe or a good idea. Its fucking scary to be honest

Why does AdultWork ban VPNs?

The legislation also bans female ejaculation and BDSM. That means the UK can say goodbye to Streamate too.

It's a parent's duty to monitor their kids' internet usage. This prudish behavior in the current year is sad and regressive as fuck. Porn isn't the problem, you are just trying to create a problem.

I think you Brits need to start using Bitcoin at this point.

And of course kids are gonna find a way to get around those filters.

So, they're either going to have to go one of two ways. Either banning all forums and social media like twitter, tumblr, reddit, and this site... or they're going to only punish legit porn sites like clips4sale and mfc that actually have age verification systems already in place for purchasing porn. Oh yeah. That's a good choice.
Congrats, Britain, you're officially tied with the US again for stupid shit done in 2016.

The bill also bans pornography showing BDSM or female ejaculation.

There will always be new laws coming out and there will always be ways to get through those walls. And I do agree that it's the parent's job to monitor their children. They do that with everything, with literature as well. Banning what it "wrong" for people. Like at one point "To Kill A Mocking Bird" was a banned book for kids. There's no sex in there.

The one thing about this bill that I haven't seen very much discussion about so far is how it puts the onus on payment processors. Since payment processors can be held responsible for working with non-conforming sites, they'd be stuck being the de facto enforcers of these rules, or be stuck putting themselves at risk along with the site. That's going to be the choke-point, I think. And although a country can't easily enforce laws beyond its borders, something like this will certainly have international implications. I said it ages ago when this first came up, and I'll say it again... I hope other countries will not be pressured into complying here. At the very least, it should be possible to serve UK visitors a different homepage, etc.

The bill allows the UK government to block payments to sites with banned content. That would mean the British Pound would not work on camsites. https://techcrunch.com/2016/11/23/uk-wants-to-censor-non-conventional-sex-videos/

The part of the law that will cause most the issues outside of porn is for a site with an age check to be in compliance, the user would have to submit personal id to verify they are actually 18. That would be a massive issue sites like Netflix, Google or Amazon. The liability for having to keep that much personal data for even a non-spending user will make it simply not worth it to just not block UK themselves and keep the rest of Europe available. Some user will simply stop using them rather than have to submit that sort of identity information in the first place. Google for instance walked away from China for less than this.

Considering UK is going into a recession they aren't the economic powerhouse they were pre-brexit to make companies jump through hoops at least for the next three years.

While porn is just a small part of the whole bill, I just can't believe it passed. I don't know, maybe I'm an optimist, but I feel like the backlash is going to be significant. Maybe that will cause some kind of change?

I Want to point out that the vast majority of British people are only just hearing about this and the mobile surveillance plans (apparently to stop kids sexting we all need our texts read)
U.K. Doesn't seem to see any value in educating, just taking the toys away, it really does sound like something Russia or China would do.

Adultwork has had age verification on their site for a while now, so I don't think i will affect us UK cammers so much as far as Adultwork goes.

Aside from the ban on porn there is also a huge list of government departments that can view your internet history without a warrant and just for the hell of it.

  • Metropolitan Police Service
  • City of London Police
  • Police forces maintained under section 2 of the Police Act 1996
  • Police Service of Scotland
  • Police Service of Northern Ireland
  • British Transport Police
  • Ministry of Defence Police
  • Royal Navy Police
  • Royal Military Police
  • Royal Air Force Police
  • Security Service
  • Secret Intelligence Service
  • GCHQ
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Department of Health
  • Home Office
  • Ministry of Justice
  • National Crime Agency
  • HM Revenue & Customs
  • Department for Transport
  • Department for Work and Pensions
  • NHS trusts and foundation trusts in England that provide ambulance services
  • Common Services Agency for the Scottish Health Service
  • Competition and Markets Authority
  • Criminal Cases Review Commission
  • Department for Communities in Northern Ireland
  • Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland
  • Department of Justice in Northern Ireland
  • Financial Conduct Authority
  • Fire and rescue authorities under the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004
  • Food Standards Agency
  • Food Standards Scotland
  • Gambling Commission
  • Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority
  • Health and Safety Executive
  • Independent Police Complaints Commissioner
  • Information Commissioner
  • NHS Business Services Authority
  • Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Health and Social Care Trust
  • Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service Board
  • Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Regional Business Services Organisation
  • Office of Communications
  • Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland
  • Police Investigations and Review Commissioner
  • Scottish Ambulance Service Board
  • Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission
  • Serious Fraud Office
  • Welsh Ambulance Services National Health Service Trust

Some of them like the police or GCHQ, you might say fair enough if you bought the security line they try to palm you off with but why does the food standards agency need to know people's internet histories? Are they going to make sure no one is searching for how to cook endangered species or something, or importing some panda steaks. Or the fire and rescue service? Are they going to leave people in burning buildings if their histories reveal they looked at some now illegal porn

Also because access is open to so many people and departments I suspect it will be a short time before someone hacks it and manages to leak huge amounts of peoples details.

I agree. What the UK have just done, is the same as China, Russia and North Korea. I mean, this country is totally fucked now. I'm out of this country soon, and I won't support anything this country does.

It makes me wonder why male ejaculation is alright, but female isn't. It both comes out of the the urethra. I call sexism on that one.
