Hey guys & girls,

My first post here so hopefully you can all be amazing and help us out,

One of my close friends is a cam girl and wanted a better site to sell her videos/images on than just clips4sale etc, so as a developer I offered to help out and try to deliver something that would benefit the cam girl community as a whole. She's told me her ideas/thoughts for it, but I thought I would get a general feel of what the community wants from it as well.

Is there anything you absolutely hate about clips4sale/extralunchmoney? (Apart from the look! :geek: )

Or

What would you change about it if you could?

Our thoughts at the moment are:

- Allow models to upload photos, then pay them per a certain amount of views. (I see advertising littered all over sites which offer pictures, so this is just returning the money back to the user)

- A payment service which doesn't feel like the user is about to get hacked and his identity stolen.

- Prettier bio/profile page.

- Allowing your cam widget to be placed inside and affiliate codes on the page.

This is what we brainstormed so far, please add to the list if you want it!

Thanks a lot!

x :thumbleft:

I mostly use clips4sale, and the only thing I can think of that I wish I could change is...

honestly, just having a list somewhere of the categories available would be nice. Maybe instead of the category selection being a drop down list, have it as a pop-up window where you see all the categories and can click on the ones you think apply? (I do like that you can list your own keywords as well)

I tend to go through the clips4sale categories when I need ideas for new videos, and I've done a "here's the list" for the girls here a few times, but it's a bitch to get it all down.

That's really the only thing I would change about it.

Ahh yes, that is one gigantic list of categories.

I think 'Tagging' would probably be best with this one.

So anyone uploading any type of video / image can tag it with preset tags. I think custom tags can get crazy messy similar to 'meandfrienddoingnaughtythings' which would create a whole new tag and would most likely get lost :(

Do you guys mind 'Tokens'? We really don't want to go down the "sketchy" route of 'Buy Now' and going to that very weird looking page.

I would mind greatly, if the only reason I am going to a site is to buy a video. I do not want to be stuck with leftover Dojokens after I have my video. I would rather have a shopping cart and a reputable credit card processor.

Thanked for the use of the word Dojokens.

Absolutely loved 'Dojokens' made my day just with that comment!

Well a lot of 'decent' credit card processors usually block adult content from being bought through them. e.g. PayPal / Stripe. I guess this is the reason why 'Chaturbate' etc use tokens, this way they can get past that.

What happens if you can just refund your left over dojokens? back to cash?

I will have a look around to see if I can find a reputable payment processor.

Thanks again all for the comments!

Dojokens!

I haaaaate tokens/credits/whatever on content-based sites. It's uselessly confusing. I think it's easier to say "ok it's $10 for that video" and then I know that if he pays $10, I get $6.50 or whatever. Rather than "ok it's 100 credits, that'll cost you $15 because you're not a premium member and then I get $6.50, but it only comes in packages of 200 sooo yeah". As for refunding, I would never trust a site that promised it's give my money back. Why would I let them hold it?

I often refer guys from MFC to my clips4sale store when there looking for fetish vids, and it's super easy for them to just buy one video then forget about the site (if they want to). Much faster & simpler than having to make an account. I think that ease & convenience can help a site, especially if it's new.

I think the main thing to consider is why you want to make a new site, and what new/novel concept are you adding? What can models & members get from your site that they're missing elsewhere?

Clips4sale is probably the leader in fetish content, MGF is much more interpersonal, ELM makes it easy to sell physical products & has the texting option. All of these sites have their issues but are overall unique enough to stand out.

Things I'd change on ELM:
All of the content on my profile page is lumped together. Theres no way to click "impregnation" or "lotion" and have it pull up only my vids in those categories. For girls with a lot of content (and especially fetish), it's tedious for guys to look through and I think it affects sales.

I don't like their escrow system; escrow is great to ensure both parties get what was promised but theirs is slow and messy. I like MGFs: the guy sets the amount and picks either photos or videos. Girl sends them through a special escrow page so he can see the thumbnails and confirm all the content is there. He then releases the funds and can watch his videos. If he doesn't accept or reject within 24hrs, the money is auto-released.

Also I hate their homepage because there's often gross or extreme images on it. If I were there to buy videos of girls rubbing oil on their boobs, I might be put off by close up gifs of random chicks peeing as soon as I clicked the homepage.

How are you planning to sell me Dojokens if you do not accept credit cards, and if you accept credit cards why do I need Dojokens instead of just paying for the content?

For payment processors, I would look at what girls use on their personal member sites. Like some girls have websites where they sell videos or monthly memberships; maybe see what they use?

I think the general feel is hate towards a token based system - completely agree that it should just be as easy as 1-2-3 done. You get your money. (I heard clips4sale limits withdrawal to $150! For smaller time users thats an incredible amount!)

We are actually thinking of an 'invite' only network, so you don't get scamming sellers. Essentially it's like being a moderator on this forum, only letting certain people sell is a great way to do it - but also, camgirls will invite their friends to join.

The gap is the market is quite simple, people are linking 3 sites all over the place, there should be an obvious choice for people to go to. Less shady, more transparent and friendly. (best way to do things imho)

Thanks guys, keep the comments rolling!

I would definitely go against using tokens. It would most likely discourage first time customers, plus the cost to run your site would increase if you're having to spend time issuing customer's refunds when they want to cash out their tokens.

One thing that I think clips4sale could improve on is to have more images and less text. When you click on a category, it should have a image of each new clip under the recently updated stores, not just the name of the studio, and not just an image when you roll over the name of the studio.

A option for live shows might be kind of neat too. I know clips4sale had been thinking about it earlier.

Pretty much all the reputable adult payment processors offer the choice between token-based systems and single transactions. CCBill and Epoch are the first two that come to mind.

But... Maybe research this whole idea a bit more before considering it further? You haven't even touched on the record keeping, model verification, laws concerning adult websites, what sort of content is legal on clips sites, etc. Ensuring that you don't end up going to prison for not keeping correct records is a lot more important than figuring out which payment processor to use, at least in my mind. You'll also probably need to be a registered business, and will be required to deal with all the tax records, send out 1099s to models, do all the behind-the-scenes maintenance, and handle model/member complaints or bugs in a timely manner. Most adult websites have a small army behind them... who all also require payroll. This isn't a small undertaking that you're talking about, this is a major project that will take years to code and build up to the point where you have enough models that the money to maintain and keep staff isn't coming out of your own pockets.

I'm not saying don't do it, I'm just saying that there are a LOT more things to think about then just 'Oh hey, I could be the next C4S!', and taking everything into account will help you out in the long run. :twocents-02cents:
