Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice and guidance! I'm a new girl on mfc, and would like to get some ideas so I can make the big $$$! Just a struggling college student, trying to make a living! I'm very open to ideas and love what I do. :) I know not to mess with PayPal and Google wallet! I do use amazon and have stuff on my wishlist! But, how do I know when they'll arrive! I know that stuff has been purchased! I'm hoping you get more private shows!

You should be clear in what you're asking. You will know when your packages arrive because they will be at the address you registered your Amazon to. (Look into a P.O. Box or UPS box for security reasons).

Get approved to the model's only section -- there is a ton of advice there on every aspect of camming.

Just gonna be upfront about this if your only getting into camming because your hoping to make the big big big bucks maybe rethink your choice. This is a job that will effect you for a lifetime! And it's a lot harder than a lot of people think (a lot of marketing, behind the scenes work, constantly coming up with new ideas, sleepless nights preparing for a fun show). Even as somebody who has double the average camscore (not that camscore is everything it's not!) I only make between 1,800 to 2,000 a month. The girls who are making six figures are not the majority! And they work EXTREMLEY hard I mean EXTREMELEY. Sorry for the blurb I just had to let you know when you described camming as a way to make the big bucks.

Now onto some advice I think is decently important!

This is my experience as a Myfreecams model

Privates! I don't know why this is but it seems like privates were far more frequent when I was a new model. I accepted them cause WOW 60tkn a min I'll take that. Let me just say no no no to this mindset! Privates aren't bad by any means but you shouldn't accept every private request you get. I left my room when it had 300 people in it! Went to private and couldn't get my room back up when I came back! So look into everything when going private how many people are in here, how many are lurkers, how many are talkers, how many people are contributing to countdown? Building a relationship and fan base when you have new model status is crucial, and you can't really do that if you aren't in public. So decide is that private with a guy who hasn't contributed to public what so ever and may never come back worth losing 10 chatters and tippers (even if they aren't tipping 60tkn a min) that will stand by you?

Recording. People are going to record your shows and put them on the Internet for free watch out for people that come in your show consecutively but never talk or tip I give em about a week or two then I ban them I noticed they are always the ones recording. Apply for model status so you can get more in depth info on how to get vids and pics taken down

Scams are every where when you're a new model payment should always be upfront! Now if and or buts no "I need to do a test run to make sure your cam is working" or I'll pay halfway through the show up front ALWAYS! For now tell them you only take tokens not alt. Payments. As a new model you'll have enough of a headache dealing with constant scammers don't add another headache of Alt. Payments

This isn't very important but know who your target market is. That doesn't mean you stay in one little box and never venture out but at the beginning of my camming I had no idea what kind of customers I was going to attract. It really made my topics all over the place, and narrowing down a few things I know my target market likes helped me organize. For example I forgot to shave my first show and attracted tons of bush lovers, knowing this I now market myself as Au naturale, I bring in viewers specifically looking for the bush, and now I make topics around the bush because that's what my target market likes. This is kinda a ramble but the point is know what makes you special, know what kind of people that will attract, and build shows around that.

Never post any photos you have on your personal social media to any cam related social media or cam profile. Reverse image search is a thing

Be fun. If there is no conversation make a constant effort to create conversation. What the fun in watching a model who is playing on her phone looking bored? Joke laugh, share funny stories, show personality, engage with your room. There will be days where you have a room full of lurkers, do your best to make them talk. Ask questions, tell a story, bring up topics (but nothing serious or political) talk about your life, what you ate for breakfast, ANYTHING to make your room more lively!

Save AT LEAST 30% of your paycheck for taxes! You will owe money at the end of the year. You don't want to be scrambling for cash at the end of the year when you have to file your taxes.

Aaaaand that's all off the top of my head, there's more but you have to learn some things on your own ;)

Also to add, do some site research...MFC is not a good beginner site, most token sites are not. But there are plenty of other sites that you can work on where you will achieve success if you are consistent and fun and all that good stuff that @CutieHasBooty outlined in her post.

I know the lure of MFC money is tempting and seeing top models making crazy amounts of money is too, but it can take years to get to that level of awesomeness, some never make it there even. So you need to choose if you'd like to risk that, or if you'd rather have a consistent paycheck that covers your expenses. Personally I'd say that since you are just starting out, try a private based site, even $200-$500/week in the beginning is much better than making very little on a site like MFC. Try Streamate, Cams.com, Imlive.com and Flirt4free.

Even as somebody who has double the average camscore (not that camscore is everything it's not!) I only make between 1,800 to 2,000 a month.

So I'm curious, could I ask what your cam score is? I started on MFC when I was jobless and desperate in March and unfortunately squandered my New Model status as I did it for maybe a week or two then quit due to issues with my boyfriend at the time. I'm back to camming now that I'm single and looking to do it as something I actually enjoy, compared to the desk job I just quit. The issue is I absolutely TANKED my cam score, and boy do I mean TANKED. So I'm curious what you would consider average? It looked like the wiki outlines their camscores generally being from 1-1000, 600 being the average, but then I hear some of these top girls have cam scores of like 40k? Is that right? Am I missing something? I've been looking at moving to SM now to see how that goes before going back to MFC but curious if I even stand a chance at this point.

There are models who have brought themselves up from a 500 camscore up to 5k or higher - patience and consistency are key, it takes a lot of hard work and time, but it's possible.

SM is also lovely, but very different. I personally prefer it - just log in, do your shift, and log out. No camscore, placement is determined by a combination of factors: your stream quality (determined by your equipment and Internet speed), hours online, customer ratings, and hourly rate. There's a higher percentage of traffic looking to spend NOW. Most importantly, it's still possible to get shows even if you're not on consistently.

On the other hand, many models end up feeling like guys on SM really see them more as a piece of meat than a whole person. Room counts are MUCH smaller. You have people popping in and out quickly, either hopping from model to model till they find what they're looking for, or hoping to catch a glimpse of nipple when someone tips for a flash. Dudes who want to see you "cum bb" or "squirt bb", yet leave the instant toy touches pussy.

My biggest peeve is that I keep getting guys who think that if I'm doing anything at all (dancing, chatting with someone, crocheting, literally anything but sitting there staring at the screen), I must be "too busy" for a private and they dip out, even though I'm totally on there to take privates (duh) and am just dancing/chatting/crocheting/mating socks/what have you, so I have something to do to pass the time between shows. So, it can be a little boring. However, this is still better (for me) than sitting on MFC for three hours, futilely trying to make conversation with a room full of crickets, and logging off with no money. There are ladies who can make it happen, but I am not one of them.

There are also ladies who successfully balance both sites - maybe you do MFC Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Streamate Tuesday, Thursday. Maybe SM in the morning to crank out some privates and MFC in the evening to chill and socialize while you work on your countdown.

I believe the average camscore is 987 my camscore was 2350 last time I checked but it's not on my profile and I've cammed sense last check my camscore so it's definitely different now! Don't worry if you tanked your camscore it moves around a lot! You will always have an opportunity to improve it remember don't be afraid to get online because of cam score it can't move up if you don't cam. Some girls do have 20k plus cam scores but they are certainly not the majority! And it takes most of them a lot of time to get up there

Sorry double post but something I forgot to mention camscore really isn't everything as I stated above camscore is simply how much you earn per hour over a 60 day period. There are girls who have lower camscore but rank higher than me or earn more because they pull more hours, stay on longer, work through slow periods, work more days every week etc. so you can still earn with a low camscore!

Average camscore on MFC is 1000. Median camscore on MFC is around 600. There are a lot of ladies in the 1-6k camscore range. Higher camscores become increasingly rare. (I personally feel like there are a buttload of girls with 4k-6k camscores, they seem to be the majority of row 3 through 6 on the page during prime-time, haha. I may be over-exaggerating.) Occasionally you'll see someone with a 100k+ camscore. It just means they've made 100x the average earnings per hour on the site over the last 60 days.

This page takes forever to load but is super interesting for useful MFC stats. :) Good luck!

This has all been such useful information! I'm spent most of today setting up a new cam space and the last element I really need to solidify is the lighting. Thinking about getting a desk lamp and shining it forward as a cheap alternative until I can find a relatively easy to use lighting set on Amazon (open to suggestions! though I know I saw a wiki on it and haven't gotten back to that yet). The lamp I have right now in the background is far too bright and glares pretty badly on cam. I've been working on a raffle box for countdown sorts of activities to do until showtime. Still trying to come with ideas, but I'm really excited with how much behind the scenes work I got done today! :D

I appreciate the honesty. My question is how long before you started making something? I know somewhat about the sex industry. I'm into bdsm and used to sell videos and photos. I'm a very down to earth girl and want to build a following I'm at a 700 cam score within 2 weeks now.

Personally I made more money per hour when I had new model status, I hit a rough patch after new model status that lasted about 2 weeks I made almost nothing mainly because my schedule was very inconsistent. But I started earning again once I had a consistent schedule. That's another thing I should mention make sure you stick to a schedule! And set a goal before you can make sure to be reasonable with your goals. A camscore of 700 can definitely be raised! To really raise your camscore focus on deals that require offline tips (these raise your camscore more than online tips). Along with that you mentioned you sell videos. My shows tend to go pretty well if I create an incentive for new tippers at the beginning of the topic. For example my topic the other day was something like " FIRST 5 TIPPERS OF 33tkn OR MORE GET SEXY SQUIRT VID" that is a short 5 min video so they aren't getting something super valuable but it was still a really good deal. All of my first 5 tippers were members who have never tipped me before. So if you run deals it can really get the ball rolling at the beginning of a show, and encourage lurkers or people who wouldn't have normally tipped to actually communicate and tip. Do you have a Twitter? If not you should make a cam Twitter there you can promote Mfc deals for offline tips and communicate with members to sell non Mfc things. Along with that you can pre tweet before your shows so members who like you know when you're avalible.

I will definitely give this a try! Do you get people who only tip 1 tkn for the freebie often or do you set some kind of minimum on this, or is that kind of framing it in a negative light and it's better just to let them tip whatever they want?

I do set a minimum for this particular deal the minimum was 33tkn. Not many people tipped for than the minimum so it's Better to have one than trust that people will tip more.

You won't know when they are going to arrive, never and i mean NEVER do a show for someone who says they bought you something off your wishlist until you receive it in your hands, its a scam. they purchase the item and get the show, then either cancel the order before it ships or they never fully check out and it shows up as a purchase and is removed from your wishlist. when people approach me about wishlist items i always tell them that i don't exchange shows for gifts, if they purchase me a gift item of clothing i will send a photo set when i receive the item, and if its a toy i will make them a short custom vid when i receive the toy. That ensures your not getting ripped off. alot of times they use the tactic of announcing they bought you something and ask for a pm, they do this because they know you are distracted by watching your chatroom, the idea that the item was already purchased without prior discussion, is a surprise to you and your mind is caught off guard. They know that you will likely feel obligated to give something back as that is the natural response if your not on top of your game. Don't fall for it. This has happened to me so many times and i tell them no show until i receive the item. guess what....they immediately leave the chatroom and i never receive it, then i have to go through my wishlist and re-add it. they get really creative too, i had one guy "spend" over 5k on wishlist items with a story about having aids and being rich and not being able to get laid so he wanted to spoil me for a show lol, yeah ok.....took me a while to re-add my wishlist items, i was pissed! the classic game is they say they have spoiled models before this way and gotten ripped off, trying to play the sympathy card, yeah.....its all bullshit!!

as for everything else, i agree with what everyone else has said above me.

I greatly appreciate your advice dear! Forgive me if I came off rude in any way! I get discouraged easily at times and want to do well. I love what I do on cam and enjoy being my playful self. Just it's hard when you don't know all that much. But I told myself to set a goal of 4 hours a day, it's been helping I mean I'll get 200 tokens some days and some I'll just get 50 just trying to keep my chin up. I'll make a twitter though. What about ig, and sc? Or even selling videos on Dropbox

Honestly, I think twitter as all you need. I've had an instagram with 40,000+ followers and they never affected my income in a positive way, only annoyed me with basically being pissed they had to pay for my nudes/camming sessions. Also you can't post anything naked there even my censored stuff would get deleted. I use dropbox for my videos and have people tip in exchange for the link so that's a great idea! Some people use other uploading sites (forget which since I've always used dropbox).

I agree that a private based site may be better vs mfc if you're okay with doing private shows. The income can be a bit more consistent in my experiences AND being into bdsm or any sort of fetishes will be a huge plus there. I find that I have way more fun performing fetish based private shows vs being more vanilla on a site like mfc/cb.

Streamate! Lots of fetish guys there! I don't even heavily market myself as a fetish cammer and still get a lot of shows from guys who want that sort of thing. Get verified model status and there is SO much info in the models only forum ^_^
