Cons: support is pretty bad, rules are inconsistently applied and lately there is just too many server and connectivity problems.
With the exception of the latter I'd agree with this statement. Lately the server/connectivity issues have actually been WAY less frequent (unless you're talking about OBS, lots of issues there still for some models). I agree completely on support. I SIGNIFICANTLY scaled back my token spend because of MFC's lack of give-a-shit about member issues, lack of two-factor authentication for models and/or members, complete and total lack of response when the answer to a tech support question isn't readily available, and several other things. When I heard they were actively advertising on one of the most notorious pirate sites for model videos, that was kind of my last straw. From a model perspective I'm sure it's quite different, but as a member, my personal perception is that MFC truly doesn't give a shit about people, only about revenue. Which is fine, that's certainly a business model a lot of companies succeed with, but it's not a company I'm going to support financially. There's too many other ways to support my friends on MFC and show appreciation.
While I don't necessarily think it's too little too late, I do agree there should have been more of a jump start to get stuff shifted to HD/nonflash especially.
Agree 100%, definitely not too late! If you look around at the other businesses owned by MFC/Leo, it's clear his PRIMARY focus is on shrinking the bottom line, not growing the top line, and I think that migration to HD/Nonflash just went too much against that model. Now that hands are being forced, it's a little different story.
Keep in mind it's easier to build with new technologies from the ground up, but having to keep platforms running that were coded ages ago and still update them with newer stuff is a different story.
Boy, we're so on the same wavelength here Amber lol. I will add that one of the reasons they're having to work with such old code is because they've never really made upgrading a priority. I suspect (hope?) once they're a little more caught up they remember that going forward. You don't have to be bleeding edge, but leading edge isn't a bad place to be
