Think there is new link being spammed around again,

if any models know it, please share so it can be reported :)

I stupidly clicked the link sometime ago. What can I do at this point?

Sounds like you would have had to click the link, download the file, uncompress it with a program that can handle rar files, then click on the microsoft installer file inside and hit okay to run it after the warning pops up. If you didn't do all that you've not done anything dangerous at this point. If you did do all that then just take your computer out back and set it on fire... kidding on that last part.

Seriously though even if you downloaded the file is all don't worry. Just delete it and forget it, you'll be fine.

Yeah as JerryBoBerry said,

You only need to be concerned if you ran the file that is in the rar file.

Reply here if you did, also an antivirus or security software will likely not detect anything.

It needs to be blocked and removed manually.

I got that email today. I forget what the link was, but I did not click on it. I am always very wary of a link members send me unless I know the person, in case they are tracking my ip when I click on it. The weird part is that the email was deleted (not by me) within an hour of me receiving it. So maybe MFC is on the lookout for these emails and deleting them. But yeah like others said, don't click on anything that you are not 100% about the origin. It's just not worth the risk. I also don't accept skype file transfers, maybe I am just paranoid but I feel like they could be infected.

just got this email last night. thanks for posting this thread and raising awareness. I knew better than to click on it because of all you wonderful people.

Wait a minute here. Are you folks saying that links sent by random people are no longer to be clicked on? And once clicked on, we should no longer let any old site install any software they like on our computers?

Why hasn't anyone brought this up before? I'm gonna have a few cocktails, go for a drive and give this some thought.
I'm having a conversation about it in the tub right now, on the phone while it's storming outside. Listening to the radio on the edge of the tub as use I the hair-dryer with my other hand.
