How did I ever live without this!? I must say having the avatars so handy is shakeup that has been needed for some time.

I think he may have been a tad sarcastic about 'game-changing' aspect.AmberCutie said:I don't see how you can call it game changing since they're such tiny little images next to the names in the friend list. They just replaced the little different colored cartoon people that used to show up there.
It's cool to sort the homepage to put the top Miss MFC girls at the top. That has more of an impact on my browsing than the avatars.
I guess I could just have been dense, but I searched for even the tiniest bit of sarcasm in his post and didn't find an ounce.Jupiter551 said:I think he may have been a tad sarcastic about 'game-changing' aspect.AmberCutie said:I don't see how you can call it game changing since they're such tiny little images next to the names in the friend list. So I am either bad at reading jokes or he is bad at sarcasm. Probably both.

I am shocked you think I would joke about such an important innovation. How can you look at thisand tell me that you do not want to visit the model?
starsign said:Well here is a big change: if a model blocks a member nowadays on MFC, the member can still see her and message her in the PM window. Only that he cannot visit the room anymore. I heard this yesterday and asked a model I know to test it on me and it's true.
It kind of defeats the purpose, right?
starsign said:Sorry, I should have been more specific, the new feature is that you can still see the models video feed. Members have always been able to PM the model after a ban (if PM was enabled in the first place).
Maybe she/you are confusing the "ignore" and the "ban" feature, or experiencing a glitch.starsign said:Sorry, I should have been more specific, the new feature is that you can still see the models video feed. Correct. I had the same instance less than 60 days ago. Went into models room (one from here on the forum as it turns out) under one of my other account names a week or so ago and found out I was banned. I had not really been in her room at all and had not really even talked with her all that much. So I was rather surprised to find this had happened.ga5457 said:If you get banned you can still watch the model but you can't chat. As soon as you leave her room you won't be able to go back in. It has been like that for at least three years that I know of. Maybe I need to rephrase that. It was like that the last time I was banned about 3 years ago.
If that's actually the case now, I have zero reason to ever ban anyone. I only do it now from time to time to make an immediate impact and let them know they fucked up. If it doesn't do anything immediately, it's sorta pointless to me.ga5457 said:If you get banned you can still watch the model but you can't chat. I know when girls block models they just can't see the chat room now, but can still watch the feed (I think they can see the room list too) i'm curious if it's the same when members get banned.AmberCutie said:If that's actually the case now, I have zero reason to ever ban anyone. Are you getting on cam soon? We can run a definitive test. Just don't forget to unban me. :mrgreen:SexyStephXS said:I know when girls block models they just can't see the chat room now, but can still watch the feed (I think they can see the room list too) i'm curious if it's the same when members get banned.
JerryBoBerry said:My other account was unaffected by the way. So a banning is in no way IP address based. It is only account based.
Then of course steph informs me she didn't remember how to unban someone. :crybaby:
I was using a different browser and I was in there at the time. Maybe had something to do with it. But the other account was unaffected. I could see all chat and hear her just fine on it.ga5457 said:JerryBoBerry said:My other account was unaffected by the way. So a banning is in no way IP address based. It is only account based.

The couple times I was banned I couldn't go into the models room using any other user name or as a guest. I'm not sure why your IP address wasn't banned but it should have been.
It was the different browser. If you had closed that window and tried to get back on, you would probably not be able to get into her chat room. I've had a model test it on me before with a basic account. As long as I had both different browsers opened, I was fine with the unban account until I closed the window or logged out of it. It's IP address specific. At least I was banned by the best.JerryBoBerry said:I was using a different browser and I was in there at the time. Maybe had something to do with it. Ignore will still let the member watch the video and the chat in whatever window they please, but they cannot speak to the model or in her room. It basically makes them disappear from our MFC life, but they can still watch and hang out in the room. Silently.
Ban will boot them out of the room (cutting off their video feed), but they can still PM, MFC mail, and comment on our profile walls. They will get either a blank window or an error when trying to view in lounge/member room.
I believe there is sometimes a glitch that lets banned members still view the video in PM if they had the window open before the ban. But that is not a feature, just a glitch that would only last until the model reloads her broadcaster or the member closes the PM window.

Well, I kind of don't get it when developers keep doing the IP bans... this works for fixed IPs, yep, but for many of us having dynamic IPs, or half dynamic, is just a matter of restarting the router to get a new IP... Of course depends on your internet provider. But a lot don't work with fixed IPs.
And in some cases, the users will already have (not on purpose, is just how their connection works) a different IP when they connect again.
Even less effective is when they base it all in cookies. Nothing easier than deleting them (when is data stored from older sessions in these cookies)
IMHO the account based stuff is more effective. Like in gaming comunities, they will not want to use new accounts... As they loose their platinum benefits, etc.
