1) I've heard of MFC locking accounts due to weird log-in locations for years. It has happened to folks I know who weren't using a VPN, too—one of my regs got locked out for logging into MFC when we were all in Vegas this year. I've also used a VPN for years and have never had a personal problem. *shrugs*

2) It's always bugged me that that site pretty much ripped off Camgirl Toolkit's name. I know @Miss_Lollipop and @Moros1138 have since changed their site's name to Cammodel Express, but still. Always felt a little weird.

(As far as I can tell that site isn't affiliated with any verified girls [it claims to be run by a veteran camgirl who just doesn't give her name?] and is just a clusterfuck of affiliate links and unlicensed stock art photos.)

That's nothing new. They tried lowering my purchase limit to 200 about six years ago due to being from different IP addresses when I bought tokens. I simply replied that I always use a VPN for security reasons and it is never off. I told them to put a note in my file to never lock me out again or I'd go to a different site. In this day and age you are incredibly stupid not to use one 24/7 and to pester a member for something so fundamental is ridiculous.

They've never bothered me about it since.

Honestly, this topic headline seem very sensationalist for no reason.

I don't know if they had their name first or if we had ours first. It really doesn't matter to me who was first. I agree with you about the fact that they claim to be a camgirl who won't reveal their name.. Seems shady to me (my opinion, not CME's).. I appreciate that you got our backs tho

Acording to a comment on this article, MFC is now monitoring for VPN connections on their site and that if they detect that a member is using a VPN, they will contact them for an explanation.

I do have some experience with this as a member. Although I cannot validate any quotes from the article specifically. I have had this happen to me using VPN's on my account. The first time they sent me like four emails and finally asked me to confirm my identity again by sending in a copy of my drivers license. This was way before the above article was published so I think they have been doing it a lot longer than that. They did however say in the emails that as long as I could confirm my identity with the driver's license and all, it wasn't against the rules--in a roundabout way-- did they come right out and say that? No. However when I directly asked them that question they deflected it without giving me a yes or no answer (I asked twice) I did as they asked by confirming my identity and no more questions were asked. However they do occasionally send me emails when I guess they "pick up" the VPN or whatever the deal is and I just reply that I have already done what they asked awhile back with my identity, they check I guess and then send me an email back saying they have everything they need but have never apologized for contacting me multiple times and also never tell me that I cannot use the VPN nor have they ever suspended my account not one single minute for doing so. Again this is just my own personal experience with it. Personally I just think people use VPN's with stolen credit card numbers and they are just trying to nip fraud in the bud before it even has a chance to blossom.(Opinion)--Source: Mfc personal experience as a member since 2008. Also the year this all happened when I used the VPN the email specifically said the reason they were asking for my license etc was because of the VPN and only because of that, but never said it was against the rules and since I went through all of that and still use a VPN sometimes and my account has never been suspended, I am assuming it is not against the rules but at the same time they are not coming out and saying yah or nah either way, just not locking up my acccount. However I know they are fully aware that I use one. Hope this helps. :D

I would just say if you do use one and you are "caught" so to speak, be prepared for them to ask why and possibly further verify your identity with your personal picture drivers license address and all. Yep. By the way the "reason" I gave them for using one was because I told them it wasn't against the rules and I used one on most social media sites, chat sites whatever. They didn't respond to my reason or say "okay we understand" they just didn't do anything else but make me confirm my identity and they did say if I didn't comply with that, they would ask me to stop using my Vpn and if I didn't they would then suspend my account If I didn't email them a copy of my license. Pretty extreme I know and most people are prolly like WTF on the license part but they do ask it in certain situations for members I know for a fact a few others have been asked, but I have nothing to hide and I could really give a rats behind if the address got out somehow from MFC which I highly doubt it would, because the addy on the license I gave them was correct but also a one bedroom apt that I never use that I just pick up mail from and I have my "social media" credit card addy attached to that address, so they really couldn't question it, if somebody tracked the place down then they would be doing me a favor by bringing some supplies and cleaning the place for me while they are there, organizing my junk mail for me etc. ;) They also made it very clear in the email that I was NOT required to send in my license info or that I "had" to, but then turned around and said that if I didn't and was caught using one again without that specific info on "file" that I could kiss my account goodbye. Not in so many words, but yeah.

I think MFC made @justjoinedtopost stop using a VPN on their site because he purchased tokens while being connected to one.
No, they didn't make me stop.

They did lock down my account after buying tokens through a vpn. Got it straightened out, and they TOLD me not to use a vpn. As long as I log out when buying tokens though, no issues with using a vpn.

Honestly, it sounds like they're trying to combat fraud.

An account logging in with an unusual IP could be a sign of a compromised account.

Plus, most fraud happens over proxy, vpn, tor.

So to see an unusual IP (for the user), and it's a VPN ip, is probable triggering their fraud alert detection. Especially if there has been any kind of abuse in the past from that VPN/IP.

Just look at @JerryBoBerry 's comment. They saw the unusual IP from other state, Their first response was to lower their token purchasing limit. (reducing the speed at which some one could use a stolen credit card card to buy and launder tokens).

Never had a problem with MFC but I did get banned on SM for accidentally leaving my VPN set to the USA. When I tried to log on they sent me straight to a live chat with their customer services and they started asking me if I'd travelled to any other countries recently. They then told me I can't use the site if I have the VPN on but they unbanned me straight away without any more hassle. Now if I ever go on there I just make sure it's set to the UK.

Did did you tell them that you were using a VPN, or did they have that IP blacklisted?
SM permanently banned @Sevrin for using VPN on their site. They told him that he was a
"security risk".
