MFC Cam Alternative with Higher Payout

Where is your finance, marketing and customer support going to come from? Where are your servers going to be physically located?

Finance is for us to deal with. With other sites, they take money, and give cheap to no support. As for right now, Server location will be Midwest USA, (Chicago), and I will be putting another server in Europe. The support and use of the site will be the greatest overhaul needed. Not only do other member need usability, but so do models.

I will be happy to answer more questions, but can not give all the answers yet.

As of right now I only intend to use this site so that I may get feedback from Models who have experience in the world of webcamming. I can create the site the way I like it, but then it may not be the way that others will. That is why I need input.

Your average model doesn't cam forever. She shouldn't waste months putting energy into building up a following on a site without having some assurance that the site won't fold like every other one that went down the tubes, when she could be focusing on a site like MFC, Chaturbate or SM that has proven that it has what it takes to stick around.

Programmers who can put together a website, especially in this economy, are a dime a dozen, as are fly-by-night camsites. Entrepreneurs who have solid *business* plans are a lot less common. I know which I would prefer to waste my youth on, if I still had sum. You have yet to convince us that you are the latter, and not the former.

Before you try to get individual models to sign up, I would focus on getting established studios to buy into your venture. You will have to deal with them eventually, anyway. You do know some, don't you?

I agree. I have to admit that when I see someone come here and advertise a new site I check it out to make sure it is as advertised. I like many of the models here (and the guys too) so I want to make sure nobody tries to take advantage of them, as silly as that may sound. A quick web search gave me these results;

I think you may be putting the cart before the horse here. There is much to learn as the others have said in this thread. I would be very careful before you invest any more money into this especially if you are thinking of actually buying the equipment to set up your own web server. The advice you have been given here is excellent and as the models have said it is all about the site traffic. It will be very hard (and expensive) to compete with the top cam sites. About the only thing I can add is to take your time and learn all you can before investing a bunch more cash. Good luck with the site.

I had seen this before I posted here, but I thought I would give it some time before posting about it. It begs the question how their server knowledge, coding, security, and running multiple sites makes any difference at all if they are using a cookie cutter site purchased from a third party.

Yes, this is all true, and I will never try to hide it. The software will be purchased because the framework is already laid down for us to get started. Think of it as the foundation to the house. It is there so I can now start to build the walls.

Yes, the site is hosted with Rackspace. They are some of the best when it comes to hosting and network. I have yet to have any issue with them. I can load up more application servers (within 10 minutes) as needed while keeping initial cost down. The beast will be dual dedicated servers using Wowza Media Server. This is how the models will show the webcam to the clients.

Yes GoDaddy, but then again, they are great and cheap for domain names. Also, notice that the information is public knowledge, I will not try to hide who I am, and just by looking at the domain registration, you can see it is from the United States of America, not India, or other known scam areas.

Well you seem like a nice enough guy and well done for having the investments ready. What I would do is hire an expert in the business, whether a particularly switched on cam model who wouldn't mind investing time in doing behind the scenes work or someone else who is knowledgeable in the area. You seem to have a lot of the technical sides down, and the finance side, but if you're going to make a successful camsite you really need someone who's hot on general appeal of camsites and what customers are really there for, and has marketing and entrepreneurial skills. Your ideas at the moment seem nice enough, but they're not making me go "wow, this is something I really want out of a camsite!" and I don't get the impression any of the members are feeling it either. Unless this changes your site WILL fail.

Michael, I need to clarify what I was trying to say. I did not say you are a scam, I only said that it is because of scams that I automatically check out sites when I see them posted. I guess I am just real nosy.


You come across as a nice guy and you have already invested some of you money into this before really knowing the inner workings of camming. You have said this yourself and I think it's a great idea that you came here to learn. I just think it would be a better plan to learn the info first and maybe even line up some models to work with you before spending the money on the software and hosting and launching a site. That was what I meant by putting the cart (the site and the $$$ you have spent) before the horse (actually having models to work on the site and the knowledge needed to run one). It's kind of like opening up a new McDonalds with no food or employees. You're paying for the overhead and getting no return.


My advice is not from a cam site perspective, it comes from a small business owner currently trying to make it through a very bad economy.

What do you think will be a good low number to start off with. Please also note that the site will have multiple catagories such as female only, male only, couples and transgendered.
