MFC as a video host? Could it happen?

I searched for this topic, but couldn't find it. But I ran into this posted where it didn't belong and wanted to respond.

I think it would be really awesome to have a way to upload our videos right of MFC and the guys can purchase them right then without us having to e-mail links to download the vids! I hope one day MFC creates this!!! Oh please oh please!

I have been wishing for this ever since I started recording videos!
Why is it such a far fetched idea? They record the private/group shows. And there's a photo gallery from the private/group shows that questionable images pop up in all the time. Things are just as likely to happen in private/group and be on their servers already as it is to be in user uploaded content. Right? And they allow us to upload pictures. So they already are responsible for taking down anything that is too inappropriate.

I think it would be an awesome idea if we could upload photo sets and videos and offer them for immediate viewing at the click of a button within our MFC profiles. Instead of password protected galleries, allow us to set a token price that will allow members instant access to the photos. And allow us to upload videos and sell videos the same way.

Because the ONLY reason I use ELM and KinkBomb is because MFC doesn't have this feature. Yet I still sell the majority of my videos for MFC tokens, and it's a hassle to constantly be emailing out download links. They're hosting video already. They're hosting photos already. They'd make money off of it. It'd be better than any other site because you could view the photos and videos without having to download them.

The reason I'm asking is because literally a month before they made changes to the profile editor on MFC, I emailed support complaining about the profile editor. And everything I said was fixed in the update. Coincidence? Probably. But if enough girls emailed them asking for something, they might consider it?

Is it a good idea? Bad idea? What features would you want? Do you think MFC would ever do it?

I've never had a problem hosting them off-site, which makes it easy to share with guys who buy from places other than MFC, and usually hosting sites have more features than I'd expect MFC to have. I think personally I like it as is, because my video host sites can focus solely on that, and ensuring they're supported and adding new features; whereas MFC can focus on improving their own features. Plus I'd worry that it would bog down the servers or take up tons of space, especially because girls will abandon but not delete their accounts.

But, if MFC set it up, I'd probably use it. I have a barely-used profile on Chaturbate with a couple vids on it, and people randomly buy them sometimes, so if guys could just click tenon my page and do an automatic download that could be okay. But it might be complicated with running deals and what lt? Idk.

I think Amber had a pretty good point about why it could never happen. Honestly, I think I like things the way they are. I use dropbox which allows me to to HD videos that are pretty large files without any problem. I think if MFC did it we'd have to work with smaller file sizes and therefore have lower quality videos. I think it's also probably an issue of bandwidth or something like that. They're already hosting like 5000 video feeds a day.

Anything is possible but I don't see MFC offering this as a feature. Their business model has been very successful. Why add something that will just increase their costs and be a potential headache to manage? You are already selling these items for tokens and they do not have to pay for added bandwidth or police what videos are getting posted. The way it currently works is a win win for them. They might lose some potential tokens/money if you choose to sell your videos on other sites but I doubt they are losing enough to offset what it would cost them to implement and run this feature.

And of course above all, MFC is a cam site. Their focus should always be on live cam streaming.

I like that MFC doesn't host videos because I have little interest in selling them. I would feel a lot more pressure to do so if they had built in hosting.

It would be nice, but it doesn't seem to be MFC's "thing". They really focus on the live interaction, with any content the model decides to offer being a "bonus". I've never had anyone even ask for a video on MFC, but I have had people just straight up buy one in the middle of my show or countdown on Chaturbate. The only time I've even sold pictures on MFC was when an ELM customer didn't have any credits, but had some tokens.

I agree, problems with the contents' rights. But also, bandwidth imo quite more than a simple issue. It would add large usage of the bandwidth, and things like this have killed huge sites for generic video hosting/playback, (a pair of the most famous ones now, were really in danger due to this) with even infrastructure dedicated just to it, and designed to generate money. But the bandwidth costs do grow way too much. Just one model could have like 50 videos in HD for download. Well, obviously they could set a max size and/or total memory for that, per model...But.. there's always the number of downloads... if it is huge, problem again (however, a bandwidth limit set only for that... then, quite some more cost in developing...). And surely, that unless it would be made so that a portion of the money earned by the download, would be given to MFC (and in this case maybe they would want to consider it, but it surely implies a large change in the application internals) , otherwise I doubt MFC would have any interest on it. Specially as when a site works well, big changes might go against the rule "if ain't broken don't fix it". Anyway, I think the way you make more money is with the camming concept, there's something in the "real time" aspect, and interaction of it, which make models earn maybe more than selling videos... Maybe even if they earn money with videos.. wont that be because they first have made people to be fans of them previously? I feel some fear of it going a bit in the porn route... Not sure if this would be good for you... I don't know.

PD: I think it might be a good and convenient thing, but if done with a lot of thought and limits by MFC, as I see several potential problems. Also, I've heard often models complaining of MFC being slow at times... As I did not trust isolated perceptions where a lot of factors could be acting (their internet, computer, if they were downloading something, etc) I actually got curious and checked in those moments many rooms I knew, of different countries...Done the test several times. Many were lagging more than usual for those rooms... So, maybe MFC is already a bit on the limit often, the peaks might occur way more often.

Is there a new rule (or an old one I don't know about) against sending links in an MFC mail? I sent a link to a camredeem video yesterday and the guy didn't get it. I copy/pasted, but he said the link wasn't in the message on his end.

This happened with a different guy who I sent an imgur link to.

Sometimes the format of the link will cause MFC to think it's an emote and when it can't translate it into an image it disappears. Try putting it through a link shortener like bit.ly and send them the short link.

Or, instead of the shortener, for camredeem, you could say "Go to camredeem.com . Your redemption code is ____"

I've just been looking through the dropbox acceptable use policy and from what I gather they are fine with porn as long as it's lawful. Am I right in thinking that? I only ask as I'm planning on shutting down my mediafire account due to the fact that they have issues with porn full stop as well as the fact that they have recently indelibly screwed with their privacy and permissions options and have started spamming the shit out of all downloaders with millions of annoying pop unders so i think it's time for them to be struck from the list of services that I pay in order to do my job the way i want to.
