Member Poaching: Do You Even Wanna Know?

So, models: if you allow models in your room and they are PM'ing your regulars/visitors do you want to know about it? It's happened to me a few times lately (often it's one model in particular in one girl's room in particular) and I wondered if it was worth the trouble of mentioning. I just ignore the PM's, but it can be irritating. Tonight I was in a model's room where I'm a regular and another model (who was in the room) sent me a PM, clearly trying to strike up a conversation (entire contents: " hey"), which experience led me to believe would likely lead to her trying to get me to pop over to her room. And I doubt I was the only one she PM'ed, as there were a number of guys tipping much bigger amounts than I was.

So...thoughts? Do you care? I don't want to sound like a whiny tattletale, but if models think it's a problem, I'd say something about it in the future...

I'd probably want to know! I blocked models because at least once a shift random models would come in and insult me, lol. But I wouldn't want them poaching either, and I think most girls wouldn't.

If it was a model who was in the room, I would want to know so I could ban her. If she's not in the room...I mean, I wouldn't mind being told, but there's not much I can do about it at that point aside from sending her a dirty PM to lay off.

Here's a tip for members: if you have models sending you annoying, unwanted PMs, change your setting to "friends only"-- NOT "models and friends only". "Friends only" includes models who are on your friends list, so you can add the models you don't mind PMing with to your friends list while blocking out those thirsty wannabes.

I have one reg in my room that specifically left PMs open entirely so he could let me know if this happens. It's not like the poaching will ever work for the girl but I'd like to ban them if they try.

You can manually add their name to your ban list. It's likely she is on a guest account watching the room and PMing via her model account. Banning her will bump her guest account out due to the IP ban.

This happened when I first went on MFC, because I interpreted the "block models from viewing your room" as "block sexy women from chatting with me". Then one shift guys were complaining about the bombardment of messages from other models, and I became wise. And even though I was pissed, I'm so glad they told me so I could fix it.

I actually have a completely different opinion about this. Of course, I think member poaching is inappropriate and unfriendly, but I actually don't think it really works. Maybe it's because I'm a very specific variety of camgirl (I'm a fat, goth, BDSM, BBW...a niche within a niche within a niche within a niche) but I truly believe that my members are there to see me and not some other camgirl and this is proven by the fact that as soon as a "poacher" enters the room people start saying "Watch out, she's going to try to steal your viewers!" I just smile and say something like "She can try, but I think you're all here to see me." and I let them stay! I'm unconvinced I've ever lost a single viewer to a poacher. In general, I welcome other models and we have a great time!

They wouldn't leave me alone long enough to enjoy the rooms I was in. They weren't even clever or nice about it but more like high pressured used car salesmen. PMs from friends was the easiest decision I ever made on MFC. I found the models that do this more annoying than anything else.

I have also dropped really big tips publicly in popular crowded rooms, the exact prime environment for poachers, and I have never once had a model PM me to try to come to her room or tip her.

This was my experience when I first joined MFC about a year and a half ago. I have no idea what it is like now. As I said, I went to allowing friends only to PM me and I avoid it all together now.

I've seen Maya get past bannings in a few rooms. I think she slept with Leo for super powers or something. The only thing I know of that keeps her out is banning all models which sucks because its usually fun when friendly models drop by other models rooms for a chat.

I let my room open now so friendly models can come by and say hello to me. Other models/members trying to fish people to their rooms rarely happens to be successful, so i dont care.

Today a model stopped by and said she loved my make up, i really like when that friendly things happen, we are all co-workers anyway.

Although, i visit my favorite models with my premium account, because tipping ninja with a compliment is what i preffer to do

I used to get bothered all the time by other models, before I started using friends only PMs. They never wanted to take no for an answer either, so I would end up having to put them on ignore.

I think that banning models from your room is always a good idea so that the people who are enjoying your show don't have to be bothered by solicitation.

I think that if it's financially doable, all models should sign up for a Premium account to lurk around with and give their $19.99 in tokens to one or a few models who inspire them!

Yes. When I had PMs open to everyone I had this happen fairly often. But I switched my PMs to friends-only long ago (spring 2012) so I can't say how prevalent it is today.

I still get the occasional random MFC mail from models I've never heard of. Twice it's been from people here on ACF who had something interesting to say. I don't mind those (although I was a bit confused as to why they didn't just send me a message here on ACF). But much more common are the random ones who just want me to visit their rooms. Usually with all the grammar and tact of an MFC guest.

I have a slightly odd problem, being called SweetieBatman, I very often get mistaken for a girl (especially when i used to not change my font colour back from Kittykulting!) and some of the stuff members think its acceptable to send women (or innocent young Englishmen) over the internet still haunts me to this day

I was going to make a joke about how you should join 'Dick Pics Anonymous' having just made up that title in my mind. I got curious to see if I could find any cute gifs (pronounced jifs by the way) that would go with that theme. Then I ran across it. Someone made an entire video of a Dick Pics Anonymous meeting featuring men addicted to this. They beat me to the punchline. :lol: :lol: :lol:
