I understand why this question is being asked. I've recently signed MFC's contract and was surprised by it's wording.
Depending on how you interpret things, it is worded in such a way that they can claim the rights to any photos or videos I make in the name of my MFC persona.
I can't afford to consult a lawyer about this, and I don't live in the USA so it makes things even more complicated. Has anyone received legal advice on this matter?
I'm weary of breaking their rules since it is contractual and I'm just starting out, but I've noticed that anyone with a camscore over 700 offers videos or other incentive for offline tips...

Thanks,
Tiff

You do not have to worry. You own and keep the rights to any content you post on MV. We are allowed to take down content that could violate our rules, but when it comes to your content, we will always ask your permission first if we wanted to use it as promo material.

As a free-agent perv, the thing I miss on MV is the possibility to use search terms other than the model's name. Say someone wanted to see which models have what kind of content, and which models do Skypes or custom videos. This would make MV more of a standalone site where visitors could discover models and content they're interested in rather than simply a depository.

You can always search using the global search for keywords of vids tags etc, which will help you find models who do certain content. We use to have a datebook page which showed every model and all their services but noticed with stats not many people would go there. We can always add new filters on the girls page for services, like girls offering Skype, or custom, etc...

I am curious about this. I notice many models have videos on ManyVid, which are recording (caps) of shows they have done on MFC. AFAIK MyFreeCams is the copyright holder for anything that is streamed on their site. Which is why models have to ask MFC to issue DCMA to take down videos on caps and such. Has ManyVids received legal permission from MFC to host those videos?

The content does not belong to us. All MV girls are responsible for their content they upload. There is no legal permission required. We are only an intermediate between the mv girl and the end user. If anything, we are giving free promotion to almost 1 million user ever month. Who would complain? :)

Let me just start by saying I agree that a change did need to be made. We've all seen the annoying spam where girls beg for hearts, and it definitely put new girls at a disadvantage. I like that it's based on a 45 day cycle instead of over all time now. So, that's a plus.

There is a LOT that I don't think works, though. The biggest thing is that sales seem to have a very small impact on rank. In the last 45 days I've earned 20x what some other girls have earned who are ranked higher than me (or were as of this morning, anyway, I've jumped around since then as I see you've been adjusting point values of some things). A lot of these sales are coming from traffic that I directed to ManyVids from MyFreeCams and Twitter. I probably would have sold some of these videos to them no matter where I decided to advertise them, but I chose ManyVids because it was a new site that had promise. You even said in the beginning that you needed girls to bring in their own traffic. So... now that you have it, my efforts to support you are down the drain? It makes me feel kind of used, to be honest.

I also don't like that so many things are required now in order to be high ranked. To get full points, you need to provide all of the services, use the store, Twitter, have a filled in profile, have a certain number of pictures and videos, and have a membership club. Even if a girl doesn't sell her phone number even once she's already ahead of a girl who just doesn't offer it. You can say that you're not punishing anyone, only rewarding them, but by the nature of competition you're forcing some people to play with a handicap because they don't offer some things. I guarantee you I will make you more money if I don't text. I'm not good at texting, it will turn people OFF of me because they'll think I'm unreliable, and thus they won't buy as many of my videos because they're frustrated by my inconsistent texting. I also won't be making as many videos because I'll have to focus on texting too when I know that's not my forte. You should trust camgirls to know what works best for them and what will make her (and you!) the most money. It's not like she's holding out on you, she wants to be successful too. I know this isn't MyFreeCams, but it is the camsite with the highest earning potential, so they're doing something right. I believe they're so successful because they allow girls to run their business their way with a lot of freedom. Both camscore and rank come down to money in the end, regardless of how they earn it, and isn't that what it all boils down to in any business?

Thanks for posting here again ManyVids :)

I agree with what Natalia posted. She covered the main points.

I do think a change was needed but I don't think you have got the change quite right yet. I think its stupid to get a bonus in rank for adding things you are not comfortable offering. I filled them all in today once the new rank system came in but chose to price things like my phone number, which I am not comfortable offering, at the highest price allowed in the hope no one will select it. I can understand expecting a minimum number of videos - 5/10 seems reasonable as its primarily a video sale site - but anything past that should be just a bonus. I even made a 'fund me' campaign to boost my ranking - its common sense that not every model on your site will need to have a campaign running and to punish those who don't add one or force them into making pointless ones seems beyond silly.

Traffic and video sales should be the main factors. If models bring traffic to their profile chances are that traffic will spend - if not on them then on another model. And obviously the models who are making the most $ on the site should be rewarded. It shouldnt matter how the model makes her money - videos, funds, skype etc - the only thing you should be concerned with is the amount she makes.

On a different note: The spam hasn't completely stopped either. The site itself is great at advertising different girls profiles - spam should be unnecessary. Personally I think you should only allow models to contact members who have purchased from them. I have no problem with a girl messaging a previous customer to tell them she has a sale on - he purchased from her before so its a reasonable assumption that he will be interested in what she has to offer. But there are girls that post on EVERY single members page to beg for hearts, to spam about video sales etc and to me it lets down the credibility of the site. I have had complaints from members I have brought to the site about it.

And on another slightly different note: Can you increase the maximum price we can charge for things? $250 is not enough to offer things like long skype or custom videos. And I know some girls who have a lot of videos at high individual cost will want to price their membership higher than that also.

As a non-manyvids girl who just read all about this change, it seems literally insane from an outside perspective. There's a 250$ limit? Why?

The only reason I can think of to have a limit would be out of fear that girls would be pricing things too high, which sort of seems condescending to think that girls can't manage their own prices. Like if you got rid of the limit, every girl would just make everything too expensive to sell? I think the people actually selling the content on the site should be given a bit more credit then that.

I know my opinion probably doesn't mean diddly since I'm not on the site, but I also have nothing personal going on to skew it. So from an objective viewpoint...what? I don't get it.

Your opinion means a lot, and it is a very simple answer.
We are one of the only sites that protects our models from chargebacks. This limit is given by our Payment processors. The 250$ limit the damage when frauds and chargebacks happen. We cover all chargebacks and do not pass it on to the model, so having this is essential. It is very possible for us to eventually increase this limit for specific members who can buy credits through wire transfers, etc. We have some ideas in sight, but for now that is the limit. It really has nothing to do with the models. We trust them 100% and know them have the experience to price things accordingly!

Just to respond to both of the above, we have already recalculated the scores, and sales make a very big impact. You will not see anybody in the top 50 that do not belong there. If you perform well, are active with new items and vids in the last 45 days, you will be high ranked.

A great example is our #1 girl and a couple of others ones. If you look at their profiles, there are barely any services, no memberships, etc...

For now the score system has been reworked, changed, and will be analysed over the next couple of weeks to ensure it is fair for ALL models, new and old. :)

PS: for the fundme campaign, why not? Did you know that if you have a campaign, when the guy checks out vids from you, he can tip 5$ to your campaign? That adds up to your earnings.
Every decision has a reason for why it has been done, and the end result is for you to earn more money and be happy of course.

I have to say, I'm REALLY disliking that I put zero hustle into driving sales or traffic to the site, make less than $300 on any given month (usually closer to $50 or $100), and I'm ranked 47. There's no way that can be correct. I know for a fact that there are plenty of other girls on there who make more than I do. Putting me in place of where they should be ranked is just......it's wrong.

Ranking me in the top 50 seems unfair and unearned. I didn't do shit to earn that ranking. Call me bitchy, but I'm ok with my laziness showing if it means someone else who has worked their butt off to drive sales and traffic gets that spot. It's how I would feel if I had been working hard and someone who sat on their ass was ranked higher than I was.

Come to think of it, I've only made payout like 3 times. Yea, I do not deserve to be ranked 47 and it just feels wrong.

Actually this is why the system works. You have 134 vids, which we do reward. The more vids you have the better your score will be! This makes a lot of sense as well. We want to encourage models to upload more vids, store items if they have this option, pics, etc. Also you have a full profile, or at least pretty well full. If a lot of models behind you fill out some profile details, reach 10 vids or any of there other services they will surpass you.
Since the MV score is new, there are a lot of MV girls that can easily improve their score with a couple of profile updates.
We want to encourage MV girls to be active and keep being active, upload new content and sell. The more you do this, the more you will increase in rank. Obviously in the next weeks the ranks will fluctuate a lot as most models will be updating their profile to be complete.

We do not want to PURELY rank on sales. We want an equivalent mix of sales, being active with old and new content as well as offering a good range of services we offer, making sure sales do weigh a lot.
We will be reviewing the score over the next few weeks to ensure it goes into the direction we expect. There are still a lot of MV girls which will need to achieve certain profile goals to get the points they can easily earn.

I feel like I'm still missing something. Why can't it just be based on who makes the most? That would motivate girls to make the most amount of money in their own way. For some girls that would be offering lots of different types of content, for others having as many videos as possible, and for others having fewer high-quality higher-priced videos. Why does it matter how someone makes your site money?

Because we know we can make all of you sell more. Its more motivating to see that you have more control over your rank than simply sales, although sales do have a big part in the rank right now. There isnt only 1 type of MV girl that just earns money. You can all sell, and we want to show you that is it very possible with a few suggestions and guidelines :)
Dont get me wrong, you will not find our top earners low on the list. They are very much present in the top 50. Encouraging activity, offering more range of services and promoting your content will only make all of our MV girls sell more. We know for a fact you can all do better, and not just promote those who are doing great already.

Just posted a video, and the preview looks like shit. Is there a reason for this? All of my others look fine... Even the "manyvids watermark" at the top is blurry. Should I reupload or is this something on your end?

My rank went from the low 400's up to the mid 200's with this ranking update. However, just having more videos and a full profile isn't guaranteed to bring in more sales. I currently have 83 vids, I update very frequently, I have a nearly-full profile, I upload pics frequently, I have my account synced to Twitter, and yet I have yet to make any money in the three months that I've been with Manyvids. I've had more sales with Clipvia, and I signed up for them after I had Manyvids up to date. I have videos that have sold very well elsewhere, they just don't seem to be what the Manyvids customer base is wanting.

Even with my situation being what it is, I still feel that the ranking should be focused more on income. Hypothetical example: If a girl can bring in $1000/month with only a handful of videos, she is probably driving a lot of traffic and really hustling elsewhere on the internet, and I feel that she should be rewarded over someone with 200+ videos and minimal or no sales.

Reuploaded and it still looks bad. Is this something to do with the conversion process you do? My last 3 videos have all used the same software/rendering, and this is the only preview I've noticed it's done this.

The ranking to be honest is purely for models to rank themselves and have bragging rights. Most users who search for vids search for titles, tags and fetishes, recommendations, or promotion from the model herself, even google indexing of your vid descriptions, titles, etc... The score is to motivate all MV girls to be more active, and we sell more with our guidance. That is our goal. It is important to us for everyone to be happy, and we can give them that direction as we do care about all our models, not simply the top earners.
This has always been out moto, and we base a lot of our decisions on this!.

If having a membership is now something we need to do now in order to finish the checklist, is there any way it could be personalized a bit? It would be so useful to be able to select which videos get added instead of just everything. When cam models make videos together, they generally agree to a price that they will both sell it for. That means that if I were to sell all of my videos on ManyVids in a bundle, then I would have to undercut the people I made girl/girl videos with. I would like to be able to get points without either having to delete videos that make money or cheating my friends out of sales.

I still don't see why this is something that should factor into ranking, but I'm trying to make it work despite that.

Is there a way to make it easier to search videos? For example, I have a lot of balloon fetish clips uploaded to Manyvids, and when I search "balloons." It says there is 92 balloon clips on the site, and not one of them is mine.... I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but I make sure I check the "balloon" checkbox when I upload them, and have the word at least somewhere in my description or title.

That's strange. When i search for balloons i get 148 results. And you are all over the results. More than one in top row of results.

Just curious. When I went to my manyvids account to look at the video's i've bought I noticed a warning I had never seen before. Is this a new thing or has it always been there and I just never noticed?

As for the Balloon search, if you blocked your region you will not see your balloon vids in the search results!

Selling store items seems like a crummy thing to include into a girls ranking.

Its far, far more personal and involves a lot more travel outside the home than digital content. There are also shipping restrictions, not being able to rent a PO box, and privacy concerns such as a model not wanting to reveal her hometown. But a model needs to offer this in order to have a complete profile and the best possible ranking its kind of asking a lot.

It seems unfair that a model with tons of really high quality videos would get less promotion(?) than a model who offers to sell panties (etc) and maybe-not-as-great videos when thats a much more specific niche. The people who want those things will go seek them out anyway. Usually guys who aren't already into panty collecting don't buy them (unless its something from a special model/contest prize etc). It seems like making tags/ categories more prominent would serve this end better.

Offering more promotion to "jack of all trades" models doesnt necessarily mean that all your top ranked models are going to be great at all those things. Like Natalia said about texting, Im going to use myself as an example here (even though Im not currently very active on the site) I SUCK at Skype shows, one on one is awful for me. I could add it to my profile with really high prices in the hopes that no one buys one, but lets say someone does and its terrible for both of us. He's not going to be into buying more things from me and might have a bad impression of MV.

Part of why I like MFC is that I can do whatever I want, and my income/ranking is based on how good I am at that not how good I am at doing EVERYTHING. When I signed up for Manyvids, I liked it because it was straightforward, easy to use, and all I needed to do was list my videos/services and promote them.

TL;DR
Obviously this is your site and you can have whatever criteria you want for ranking models. But while we're discussing it; if in order to be ranked high enough to make money I need to offer things I can't do or that make me uncomfortable privacy-wise, I probably will not bother with the site anymore.

Sorry if that was wordy, I just want to have an awesome site to sell my videos on.

Clips4Sale does a top 50 rank for each niche then a top 50 for best selling stores...I think that might be a better alternative personally. It both comes off as fair and is pretty good promotion for each fetish category.

I mean I'm like ranked in the 50's, but for that site I honestly don't bring in that much income. The main reason why is my videos were all different types of fetishes that I was asked to make as customs (through c4s). Over there they have an easy to find category section, but on Manyvids, I often give up and just put brunette, fetish, and voyeur as my categories. Plus I don't even bother with a description there due to the character limit. I've never reached payout on Manyvids, even though I have over 100 videos and frankly I'm pretty sure that's the reason why, since I've made waaaay more on c4s. I know I'm more of a fetishy model, and Manyvids is I guess more catering towards the vanilla side, but the huge difference in pay does make me wonder if that isn't part of it.
