DO NOT WORK ON CAM UNLESS YOU WORK UNDER A STUDIO OR HAVE A LAWYER AND LEARN ALL THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS AND HAVE ALL LEGAL DOCUMENTS TO BE IN THIS BUSINESS!!!!!

Don't listen girls on here that say "Well so and so does it and nothing has happened to them"

Fact is most girls that work on cam are breaking laws and are illegally working on a daily basis.

1. Before you start working on cam contact an adult industry lawyer (not just any lawyer must specialize in this field)

2. Talk to the cam site and tell them you would like to work under a studio. Why? Because the only way you can work for any cam site as a model and only a model with no legal worries is under a studio. It is the studio owners responsibility to be compliant with all the current laws and legal requirements to be in this business.

There are the greedy models that want to make all the money and be their own studio and keep 100% (WHICH IS FINE) but what they do not realize is they are required by federal law to be compliant with all the laws, and have a paper trail for any shoot they do with nudity (photos and video) and have to keep it on file for up to 7 years. Part of the law is being a custodian of records. You will learn about this when you contact a adult industry lawyer. (SOME MODELS I AM SURE ARE KEEN TO THIS, MOST HAVE NO CLUE)

Most models on here have no clue about the legals involved in this business. So do not take advice from anyone on here. Be smart and talk to a lawyer first before doing this work, or work for a legal studio. Any legal studio will have you fill out their own 2257 paperwork and so on. Also they will not allow you to post any picture or videos with nudity as well as try to sell or offer any pictures or videos with nudity. Everything photo shoot or video shoot needs to have paperwork.

The only difference between the adult industry and prostitution is the paperwork. The paperwork turns photos and videos in to a production/ acting/ theater.

As for all models that have been making and selling videos and photos.... I would get in touch with a lawyer, get the paperwork and start back logging all of your stuff. In this day and age where models on the cam sites are making over 10-100k per month, you can bet it is going to have the department of justices attention and adult industry audits will be coming soon. If you are not working for a studio and working on your own they will come to your house, you will have to let them in and take them to your files and show them your paperwork, files with videos, photos, and everything needs to be organized a SPECIFIC way.

Don't take my word for it, ask a lawyer. Hell ask whatever cam site you work for or are going to work for. They will tell you too. Tell them you have been making videos, and photos and posting them and/ or selling them with no 2257 paperwork and have no clue about what you need to do to comply with the laws.

See what their reaction is....

Do not listen to the girls that say "I do it and nothing happened to me" take the time and google an adult industry lawyer and do it right girls. This is like walking across the street. Most people don't realize that it is illegal to cross the street without a cross walk. Then one day you will do it, and get fined or potentially arrested for something that you didn't realize was illegal. So if you want to do cam, its a great business, there is a lot of money to be made, just make sure you do it right. The only 2 ways no matter what anyone else will tell you is 1. Get a lawyer and find out how to do it on your own. 2. Work for a legal cam studio because then you are just a model and the studio covers the legals for you. How to know if they are legal cam studio? 1. Ask them if they have a adult industry lawyer on retainer. 2. They will have you fill out their own paperwork prior to you working. (not the online cam site digital stuff, real pen and paper, paperwork)

So all cam girls should come work for your studio, right?

Ladies reading this in the future. OP is what is known as a leech. He gives bad advice to newbies in hopes of making money off them before they wise up and kick his ass to the curb. Laugh at him. Mock him. That's the only thing he is good for.

Being a camgirl in the US is perfectly legal as long as you don't do anything illegal or obscene in your area(aka state, since the vast majority of laws that govern you at any one particular time are state laws). You just want a cut from the girls earnings and are trying to fearmonger in order to get your slice.

I do have a lawyer. Who has familiarize himself with th industry and read up on the law. I have friends who are police officers who know what I do. Shocking that they haven't turned me in. It's not illegal unless you live in Bulgaria or Thailand. As long as you pay your taxes and follow obscenity laws, you are golden. Here in Florida you cannot create porn 500ft from a school.

You are aware the site has us print out a 2257, fill it out, and send it back in? Pen and paper. No reputable camsites will let you broadcast without it. Except CB, I believe. But you need to fill out a 2257 to get paid.

Seriously loving you little studio goon. You know nothing. Your pimp tactics and fear mongering have no power here. Now begone before a house falls on you!

Love, greedy camhoe

I read this out loud exactly as it's typed, caps included and it was truly hilarious.

It's not even remotely difficult to be legal and compliant, especially in the US, in fact it would take about as much extra time and effort that signing up under a studio would. The camsites cover all of those things when you sign up under them for live camming, but if you are making videos you should be rocking 2257's. If you film with other performers, don't forget the paperwork. You can print them out from the internet

signed,
6 year Greedy camhoe who also owns and operates an adult video production house, who has to be wicked super legal and compliant.

DO NOT WIPE YOUR OWN ARSE. LIVE AT HOME AND LET YOUR PARENTS DO IT OR GO TO LIVE IN AN OLD PEOPLE'S HOME WHEN YOU TURN 19 WHERE THERE ARE TRAINED PROFESSIONALS TO HELP YOU. YOU MIGHT THINK YOU CAN BE INDEPENDENT AND WIPE YOUR OWN ARSE BUT ASK ANY HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL ABOUT ARSE- RELATED DANGERS AND SEE WHAT KIND OF REACTION YOU GET...

Geez, someone can not handle cam models thinking from themselves? Good luck with your bullying cam models into your studio :)

All this thread has done is added to the very long list of why NOT to join a studio lmao.
So thanks OP, you've managed to get more camgirls to earn what they deserve and not rely on weird, fear mongering bottom feeders like yourself.

I've been doing sex work online since about 2006, yet I've never heard about any models who've gotten into legal trouble for 2257 stuff...

My Good Sir...

As someone who has worked in the law for many years please let me give you some counsel. As someone who is giving out legal advice, even if it is free and unsolicited, it is your primary responsibility to behave in an appropriate manner and to ensure that any advice is in accordance with the law, you have ethical responsibilities to make sure what you say is accurate. Of course anyone who did not get their law degree from a cereal packet would know this.

As my esteemed colleagues have so eloquent pointed out, you are full of shit...

I have only done live camming, but would like to begin making videos. Is there a thread on this forum that explains about 2257 requirements? Or perhaps a link to some reading material online from a reliable source?

Thank you!!

Are you planning on filming with other people or just solo videos sold on clip sites?

Here ya go.

Thank you Shutterbuck!

Just solo, JoleneBrody...

I googled and did some reading. I am hoping for a somewhat condensed version to get a general idea to begin with. I gather it involves keeping copies of the actual videos, but I would like to educate myself on whether there is actually any paperwork to accompany the videos as well. Oh and btw I am in Canada, and I don't know if that involves any additional work.

I am quite confident that with the right information, any camperson should be able to be compliant independently.

Thank you again!

This post was a great start to the year to read. :) Hilarious!! Nothing like a little desperation to go along with my coffee from the slimy middlemen (like OP) who realize that models are now making them obsolete.
