'll be using this thread to bring attention to animals that need your help - either by donations, a 'signal boost' (share!!!) or that might be available for adoption/foster. If you'd like to post an animal rescue story, or an animal rescue that needs help please feel free to! Do be careful that it is a Legitimate and Reputable rescue!! if you need help verifying that - contact me.
Sometimes these images can be disturbing - but they are not posted to make you feel bad, or for shock value.
Something I said recently - in the models only section that should be repeated here:
ust because you can't adopt/foster/donate does NOT mean you can't do anything -sometimes simply sharing a dog once a week on your personal facebook is a HUGE signal boost for the dog. do not feel helpless because you can't directly affect that dog's future. I'm also very aware that sometimes people have to pick and choose when and where they direct their giving back. It is impossible to throw your personal energy into EVERY good cause that comes along
There is a saying in rescue "one dog at a time"
I know there are people on here that give generously to childrens hospitals, cancer research, habitat for humanity etc etc... there is a lot of bad in this world and we have to pick and choose where we can best be of use. If you can't or dont want to put energy into animal rescue because you want to spend your time and love on your family, or your church, or some other cause ..there is NOTHING wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with working for yourself - to create and generate wealth and happiness for yourself.
When I was working for the shelter i made 65 bucks a day. It sucked. There was NOTHING left over for me to give back with. I was burnt out emotionally, physically and financially. When i left the shelter, i cammed for a year - and it wasn't until I had taken that year for myself- to get myself on my feet, to get myself stable, to generate enough income that I had extra to share, and extra time to share with the causes I was passionate about ... that i was able to do so. So don't you ever dare feel guilty for focusing on bettering yourselves. If you can't take care of yourself, how can you ever take care of others?
That said, if you have the time and energy to pray for, share on your personal facebooks, or the financial ability to contribute to animals in need - you have my thanks. This is the reason I am on this planet, and I feel blessed to be able to share this with you wonderful people.
Please SHARE happy stories too! Pictures of your adopted friends and stories of rescue success! We all need encouragement!
