'll be using this thread to bring attention to animals that need your help - either by donations, a 'signal boost' (share!!!) or that might be available for adoption/foster. If you'd like to post an animal rescue story, or an animal rescue that needs help please feel free to! Do be careful that it is a Legitimate and Reputable rescue!! if you need help verifying that - contact me.

Sometimes these images can be disturbing - but they are not posted to make you feel bad, or for shock value.

Something I said recently - in the models only section that should be repeated here:

ust because you can't adopt/foster/donate does NOT mean you can't do anything -sometimes simply sharing a dog once a week on your personal facebook is a HUGE signal boost for the dog. do not feel helpless because you can't directly affect that dog's future. I'm also very aware that sometimes people have to pick and choose when and where they direct their giving back. It is impossible to throw your personal energy into EVERY good cause that comes along

There is a saying in rescue "one dog at a time"

I know there are people on here that give generously to childrens hospitals, cancer research, habitat for humanity etc etc... there is a lot of bad in this world and we have to pick and choose where we can best be of use. If you can't or dont want to put energy into animal rescue because you want to spend your time and love on your family, or your church, or some other cause ..there is NOTHING wrong with that. There is also nothing wrong with working for yourself - to create and generate wealth and happiness for yourself.

When I was working for the shelter i made 65 bucks a day. It sucked. There was NOTHING left over for me to give back with. I was burnt out emotionally, physically and financially. When i left the shelter, i cammed for a year - and it wasn't until I had taken that year for myself- to get myself on my feet, to get myself stable, to generate enough income that I had extra to share, and extra time to share with the causes I was passionate about ... that i was able to do so. So don't you ever dare feel guilty for focusing on bettering yourselves. If you can't take care of yourself, how can you ever take care of others?

That said, if you have the time and energy to pray for, share on your personal facebooks, or the financial ability to contribute to animals in need - you have my thanks. This is the reason I am on this planet, and I feel blessed to be able to share this with you wonderful people.

Please SHARE happy stories too! Pictures of your adopted friends and stories of rescue success! We all need encouragement!

This is Bogey! Thanks to my room today they got his donations up by about $100.

Bogey has been treated cruelly - the people that were supposed to save him did little more than prolong his agony. .He was abandoned at a shelter, where he was placed in a kennel - with food and water available. Because he could not stand to eat or drink however, he starved for about a week with no one seeming to notice. He is currently having seizures, brainswelling and a possible Hit By Car. He may have to cross the rainbow bridge, but right now they are still trying to find out what is going on his little body.

They are asking for donations to help cover the vet costs.
They are also asking that you share on facebook etc…

After fighting to survive for most of his life, Bulletproof Sam was found with a wagging tail when he was rescued from a dogfighting operation. Last Friday, just over one year after he was saved, Sam went home with his new, loving forever family. http://www.dogheirs.com/larne/posts/316 ... rever-home

I agree with what you have said Lolli and animal rescue is also dear to my family. I hope it is OK to post this here. Personally we have taken in 5 rescue cats. We also help with rescue transports. That is a huge need that often gets overlooked as is foster homes for rescued animals. I am on Facebook mainly just for that. I belong to a few transport groups and we have a few rescuers that we really enjoy transporting for. Many animals are pulled from high kill shelters but still need to be transported to the rescue that pulls them. Often that is many states away from the shelter. This is where we are able to help by driving a leg or two.

It's pretty easy to do and almost anyone can help this way or you can help just by becoming a foster home that gives temporary shelter to rescued animals before they are placed for adoption. Our 17 year old son loves helping with the transports and he wants to be a veterinarian too! We also do emergency fosters but we do that here at the shop (and yes, I have spent entire nights here with dogs in need of a place to stay for an evening. I would never leave them here alone) as our house is very small and with 5 cats and a huge Lab there is not much room.
:-D

Please help save Teagan Chase's kitty!! This is one of our camladies of ACF and she is working through the night to get the funds for emergency surgery on her kitten - who was pregnant without her knowing. FROM HER BLOG - pics on blog http://teaganchase.tumblr.com/post/4875 ... tkittyhome

Teagan I hope its ok i posted this here! you said to share!!

Operation Get Kitty Home Safe:

My wonderful 10 month old kitten is at the vet tonight. She will be having emergency surgery in the morning if they can get her 105 degree temperature under control before then. Her uterus is infected and needs to come out immediately. It is a $700 procedure. It includes all her medications, surgery, and vet costs. I have paid $300 and will need $400 tomorrow to pick her up and get her back home to recuperate. Please help me any way you can.

Many of you know her if you have ever been to my room. She is the tiny kitten size grey baby who loves to play fetch. Who reaches up to give me hugs. Who demands that she gets kisses. Who never wants to be any where but sleeping in my lap. For those who dont know her i have posted some pictures for you. She is one of those cats who just loves you and wants to be a part of your life. She jumps in the shower just to be next to you. She has already been rescued off the street and brought back to life once before, please help me do it again. She deserves this.

To try to raise the funds I will be working through the night into early morning if I have to. Every second I can. I want my sweet kitty home. She is my world. I will be having huge sales and deals just for donating to help her. So please stop into my room here if you can: http://www.teaganchase.cammodels.com Or you may donate to me directly at http://www.payoneer.com/ Click on load card on the right of the screen and put in my email address teaganchase@yahoo.com. They have a $20 minimum there. Every little bit will be a huge help to me. I will be doing as many shows as possible, but you can tip or donate to buy anything below too.

At the very least please reblog and Retweet this if you can. And say a little prayer that she pulls through. The vet believes she will be okay as long as she has this surgery.

Thank you for mentioning transports! As i don't drive, i forget about this crucial part of rescue. Especially in certain parts of the states - (the south going to the north east is one part im familiar with). These were the lifeblood of getting large #s of our dogs out of the shelter and into fosters and adopters hands up in the North East - where they didn't have so many unwanted puppies etc. The leg transports are amazing to behold - everyone just drives liek 1-2 hrs or so..and all of a sudden there's a dog that has made an 18 hr journey!

Also: If we have anyone that happens to fly planes, pilotsandpaws.org is INSANELY amazing!

I posted an update and cammed asking for donations a few days ago for bogey the pug. Many of you amazing wonderful people gave what you could to help with his vet bill after being hurt, and left in a shelter kennel for a week to starve with no access to food or water (because he couldn't stand up)

After Harleys Angels rescued him, he was out of pain.. but having seizures and severe medical issues.

The rescue posted this update today- that lil bogey crossed the bridge and is out of pain, and in a better place. Thank you for all who gave what they could.

UPDATE! it is with heavy heart I post this news. MRI confirms Bogey has PDE as well as cyst pressing on one side of his brain. Gail was with him as he got his wings and crossed the bridge. Our little man will be privately cremated and his ashes will be homed at Gail's. We are so grateful to you all for caring so much about him. He has personally affected so many of us, especially those who had the chance to spend even a tiny amount of time with him. Rest In Peace sweet little man. Know happiness and what it is like to be a healthy puppy again.

I rescued these dogs.
8 week old blind deaf puppies in my arms..and everyone said "put them down".

They are living the good life in a small weenie dog sanctuary on the gulf coast. They are functional, happy and EVERYONE in their town knows them and adores them. they participate in regular educational talks and classes about animal welfare. Their house was broken into about 6 months ago in the middle of the night. There are around 12-15 special needs dacshunds in the house. ALL the other dogs slept through the intrusion except the deaf and blind ones. These two raised the alarms, after feeling vibrations and smelling smells they knew should not be happening!

These dogs are born deaf and blind because a breeder decided that even though there are usually birth defects breeding two types of this kind of dog together, they would do it anyway because these pups could be gotten rid of (read - killed) and the good ones sold for lots of money.

I'd also like to tell you about Tiger.

Tiger was left tied to a pole in the middle of a street in rural arkansas at about 3-4 months old. He starved while people drove past. Finally someone called us and said "hey - theres this dog out there.. for like a week".

I took a video - briefly - or our kennels - asking people to donate on our facebook page for a new paint job (the kennels are dark and you can hardly see the dogs) and this wacky, wonderful woman calls me and says she saw Tiger's aura on that video and that thats the one she wants. thats her dog. That his soul is tied to her soul and how soon can we send him to maryland.

She jumps through all our hoops, and sure enough - tiger goes off to Maryland. He later tests positive for heartworms and is treated... and the lady and I stay in touch and become close friends over time.

I get a call from a friend of hers telling me she's in the hospital, about a year later and that tiger has been impounded and they need his records. I PANIC... thinking tiger has attacked her. All the friend says is that Tiger's owner is in the hospital, and there has been an "attack".

It turns out that no, a rapist broke into my friend's home. Tiger was in the back yard. The rapist was assaulting my friend - probably with every intention of killing her. It was a HORRIFIC and violent attack.

Tiger went through 3 doors to get to her. He ripped the mans arm to SHREDS and saved her from what probably would have been her murder. Tiger suffered multiple injuries from the glass ranch slider he broke through to get to his Mom.

Everything happens for a reason. Even the really really bad things. These animals can teach us so much. They can come from nothing, from hell, from places of no hope - and become heroes.

That is such an amazing story! I am so sorry for what happened to her, and I am so sorry that Tiger was hurt. But animals are such amazing things, and I wish people would view them as more than just disposable!! Will Tiger be okay?

I should have mentioned- this happened over a year ago now. Tiger is back home with his momma, and recovered just fine. His mom is doing well too. She amazes me every day :)

That is wonderful to hear!!

I noticed this girl on the Pin Ups for Pit Bulls page. I hope it's okay to share here. I'm not familiar with the rescue, but it doesn't look like they are trying to get donations for her or anything. In fact, it says she has received donations, but needs a foster home. Maybe someone nearer her area has room? Either way, it bumps this thread, and that is cool.

She is sweet, loves everyone, cuddles up to her cell mate, makes the volunteers laugh.... and she's a pint-sized cutie! Very small--but bursting with love! She has $105 pledged toward getting her out, but no foster or rescue offers. Her time is so limited... Monday could be the last time we see this girls beautiful smile!

This is my best friend & rescue dog, Fajita! He is the light of my life and I adore him to bits. If you've seen me on cam, you may have seen him wandering in the background.

When I met him, he was living in an animal shelter in a room with a bunch of other Chihuahuas. His owner died and nobody would take him in, so there he was. He was SO shy - while all the other dogs were jumping around and barking and playing, he was terrified and hid under a table. I had a feeling that we would get along, so I adopted him. We had dogs when I was a kid but Fajita was my first dog as an adult.

The first few days, he was very shy and some problems in his past were evident - he was never housetrained, and was VERY fearful of people. If you are standing and lean down to pet him, he'll often run away. But we bonded quite quickly and now we are inseparable!

Now he is so much more outgoing and playful, he is still shy with new people but around me, my roommate, and close friends he is energetic and silly. He loves to explore and climb on things, and loves snuggling under blankets. Every morning after I take him out, we climb back into bed and he burrows under the covers to cuddle with me. He has made my life 10000x better, and I am so lucky to have him.

Definitely in the future I hope to rescue more dogs, and I do donate to his shelter and encourage others to rescue their pets.

Here's Fajita nowadays!

This man is amazing and for those of us who work in shelters we could use his knowledge and techniques.

Mark Johnson does wonders around the world. I have had the opportunity to attend one of his seminars. Just brilliant.

Absolutely amazing to see. Thank you for the post on that!

I just wanted to give everyone who read Lollis post for me about Munchkin an update. Not every one here i know reads my twitter updates. She is doing wonderful. Her temperature went down a bit so they were able to do the surgery. She was dehydrated, and anemic as well. Her surgery went off without a hitch. They kept her overnight again though as she was just that sick they wanted to keep her for observation. The next day with money in hand thanks to all who helped me i was able to take her home. The vet even cried she was worried she wasn't going to make it and got so attached to her. We got her home and she just ran around so happy to be here again. Despute her supposed to take it easy she was jumping up on the couch for her kisses and hugs, and some much needed lap nap time. She didnt do to badly with me having to give her the meds either. Vitamins for anemia, pain meds, antibiotics, and appetite inducers twice a day. I finally just gave her the last of them too.

She is back to her old self and you would never even know she was sick now. Except for her big shaved belly, which is slowly growing back in now. She runs and jumps with her friends. Shes back to playing fetch. Her appetite to eat anything is back as well. She is her normal loving life kitten self again.

Thank you all so much for helping me get her back home and safe again. It means so much to me. She hasnt had the easiest life to start with, but thanks to everyone she is headed down a great path in the future.

Is there anyone in and around the Long Beach area that wants or knows someone who wants a kitten?

I have an online friend I've known for YEARS. And recently, one of her cats had kittens and she can't care for them for much longer. She is desperately trying to find good homes for them. I told her I would help in any way that I could.

SO. I'm asking all of you wonderful people from that area.... Would you like a gorgeous black and white female kitten to love on?

PM me if you're interested and I can put you in touch with the lovely lady caring for them right now.

They are litter trained and are already eating solid foods. They were born on April 16th. Unfortunately, none of them have had any shots or been fixed. The lady caring for them doesn't have the funds to do that and is hoping they all find homes soon so that their needs can be taken care of.

This dog is so beautiful! Is anyone in North Carolina? I'm not familiar with this group, but if I would be willing to pay her adoption fee if anyone can spring her from the joint today. I already have a dog, and my husband and I are not consistent enough to be a good match for a high maintenance girl.

*Last Adoptable Day - THURSDAY 6/13* ~Pancake is a friendly girl who enjoys attention and getting treats. Her paws are crossed tightly that someone special will look at her picture tonight and decide to save her life. She has 24 hours left to live in Salisbury, NC. Pancake gets along with her kennel mate Waffle but doesnt care for other dogs brought in to the kennel. Pancake would feel best being the only dog being spoiled in the home.~ ID# 54582 - Pancake is a female adult Pitbull. She was brought in as a stray. For more info, please contact the shelter. Adoption fee $70 - goes towards spay and 1 yr rabies vaccine. Rowan County Shelter (Salisbury, NC) 704-216-7768

Sad update on this one - the dog was tragically hit by a car, in a freak accident and did not make it. Rest In Peace Bea.

From a rescue friend - MIAMI FLORIDA - URGENT - ABANDONED MALE AND FEMALE BOXERS

TWO boxers abandoned in neighborhood in Miami FLA. They are living in the front yard of someone who is feeding and watering them. Not sure how much longer this good person can manage. I received a email on 7/13/13 asking for help. She doesn't want to take them to Miami DADE animal shelter but may have to. I told her I would help network. They are not in good
shape but very sweet... male and female appear to be bonded.

My scrappy little rescue kittens will be ready to leave here in a month. I've not managed to secure homes for any of them yet. People can be so flaky! If you have friends/family in Florida that would be happy to have a new (indoor only) pal, please send them my way! They'll have their first shots and all that beforehand. They're all pretty sweet and social. 2 of them have little stubby tails! *whispers* I might be a little enamored with them.
