Since last night MFC mail has been eating links.

I was perving and saw Sexxy_Bunny having issues sending links via mfc mail...

i sent 16 links to someone and it completely deleted 15 of them last night

This mroning i tried to send 3 links to someone and the sent message shows just text - no links.

Poof.

Anyone else having this issue?

Yes! I thought it was just a glitch so I sent them by PM and moved on.

I know a lot of girls send videos via email, but the idea of collecting email addresses and sending it afterward sounds like so much more trouble than just sending it through MFC mail as soon as someone buys it. I really hope this gets fixed. I could even understand if links were blocked from members (though I wouldn't like that either), but models should definitely be able to send them.

This was happening to me for quite a while. I dont know if it still is since I havent had to link one for a while, but I put spaces in. If you dont use ENOUGH spaces it will cut off the end or something though :?

Also just started having this issue last night.

Have been removing the https://

Yeah, removing the https:// seems to make it work, but wtf are MFC thinking? Most models make a significant portion of their tokens through video sales. Shooting themselves in the foot much? I hope this is just a mistake and not a permanent thing.

What I've noticed is that whenever I try using colons in an email, they always get removed. So my links have always looked like this https//www.ambercutie.com/forums/. I started getting complaints that my links are not accessible so I just started sending them via PM.

we arent talking about it just eating colons and emotes and stuff.

We are talking about it not letting you send ANY video links.

Tested further:

Videos hosted on scarletravens own site do not go through (so its not like they are just randomly blocking all major video sharing places)

mediafire does not go through
drop box does not go through

Shortened links do as does taking off the http: like some ppl posted here.
wtf. MFC.
STAHP.

Yeah, you just have to take off the HTTP://

I keep a notepad handy with all my links pasted without the http:// for this reason, because MFC mail actually does this pretty frequently.
It did this for good 2-3 months straight a little over a year ago. It started happening last night to me too, in an email sent to over 20 people... SOOOOO frustrating.

But yeah, best to just always make sure the http:// is removed. I send myself links every month for my SLF thingy and I get a failure just about every other time. :/ and I would bet a lot of members have thought they were scammed because of this and just moved on, and the model has no idea.

I went and did this just now!! MFC mail links have been giving me a lot of grief too and I think this will fix it. I think it's going to make sending links much easier (and quicker!) Thanks, Jolene! :handgestures-salute:

This is SOOOOOO annoying and I have started the process to change the links I send via MFC mail. For me its easier to sell videos in bundles so I put all the video links for each bundle into its own text document and upload it to mediafire. After I shorten the mediafire link I use it in the MFC mail without the http. The ONLY reason I am doing all of that is because I very rarely sell just one or 2 videos.

Hopefully this will be fixed soon!!

Just a friendly reminder that this has been happening periodically for almost 3 years, and I highly doubt it will ever go away completely. Best to just plan ahead, noted it, desktop document them... all that good stuff.

Either way I promise having an open notepad or document with the link ready to copy past is such a nice time saver anyway!

I just tested it with a video link and it seems to be working. Maybe they were in the middle of updating something and it's fixed now? Someone else try it and see.

Also, before, we figured out that if there was a certain string of characters in a link that MFC would remove it as it was thinking it was an image or something. So if the link had ".jpg" or ".png" or something in it, this would bug out and happen. But this episode seemed to be affecting a lot of people so I'm guessing it was a bug.

If you use a forward slash "\" in front of the each http in MFC mail, it will go through. I tested it with a model and a member, and it worked. Don't use the quotation marks around the slash.

Good luck.

I don't think a workaround is needed anymore, seems it's fixed. Just waiting on someone else to test and confirm. :)

I just tested it without the http: removed and it came through perfectly!

Thanks for posting this and also Ginger Ann on Twitter. I exchanged 4 mfc mails in the last 1/2 day with a model I had never tipped for videos. Each one I am sure thinking the other was progressively stupider will trying to be polite..
For a company that is generating a 1 million dollars a DAY in revenue, you'd think they could hire some more IT people to fix this stuff.

I think they did fix it. Seems in less than a day.

I went back and forth with MFC support about this a few times on July 2 and 3. It's good to know others have noticed it. I do web development/programming for a living and there are valid security reasons to filter out or "sanitize" certain types of user input. However, like I told the support tech, I've never seen such a heavy-handed and arbitrary implementation of input filtering (for example, it strips out certain characters, but doesn't replace them with a space, so words and letters tend to run together where the stripped-out character was).

So, I asked them to either fix it, or provide us with some documentation showing what characters and URL syntax will be stripped out so we can avoid them or work around them. Not surprisingly, as far as I can tell, they've done neither. This stuff is web development 101.

Just now, I just re-ran the test that I did for MFC support, plus I added a test for URLs without the "http://" as mentioned upthread. I've attached screen captures of the before-filtering and after-filtering. In summary:

Certain URLs with the "http://" are OK and do not get filtered; others do. I don't have enough data to know what the difference is between the ones that are and are not filtered.

URLs without the "http://" seem to go through OK without filtering.

The following punctuation symbols and special characters are stripped out: semicolon, double-quote, less than. There are probably more--this is based on the small set of characters I tested.
