I'm such a HUGE fan of this show, and I was so bummed about Christopher Meloni (Detective Elliott Stabler) leaving the show. :icon-cry: This Sunday at 7 PM on channel USA they're having a Stabler's Final Four Episodes marathon.

Yum!

Also, I loved it when Alex Cabot was their A.D.A.

Sometimes I think about buying all of the episodes on dvd (that's 12 seasons though!), but then I convince myself not to since they air SVU marathons every week on USA.

I thought Season One was great, but I also liked it when Ice-T joined the cast in Season Two. :thumbleft:

of all the Law&Orders this one is my favorite though I dont know what that says about me. It's the more serious silk stalkings

People hate watching these shows with me because I can and will predict who the killer is, one episode at a friends I got far too comfortable and fell asleep half way through woke up in time to say "It was the brother..." and wound up being right.

Goodness, I don't think I've watched any Law & Order since I started taking criminology courses. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it the same way anymore, depends on how good of a job they actually do with reflecting some sort of reality.

I used to like it a lot, though. Can't imagine it without Stabler.

Just wanted to add that I have been watching ALL day. So glad that one of the few channels that the hospital has actually includes USA, this show being the primary reason.

All of the Law & Orders are entertaining. Special Victims Unit is definitely the most popular of them all. Stabler is also imo the most popular character on it. I don't know what I think of the new guy who took his place yet. Outside of Stabler my favorite character in all of them is Cutter. Just like his acting and how he sounds. One of the best if not the best series on tv imo.

I miss Alex Cabot! The best ADA and super duper hot.

The new chic is a-okay in my books, though every time her and Benson are on screen I can't help but look sternly at the screen and say, "Now, kiss!"

This will work some day, I just need to keep trying. The new dude is meh...don't love him, but don't hate him. I like Elliot but he got annoying to me during some points, but that didn't mean I wanted him to leave! :( Ah well.

Going to be difficult for me to take any Law & Order episode seriously after last week's Community episode, it had everything work seamlessly in a parody episode.

YES! Alex Cabot was my favorite ADA. Remember that episode where she was shot, and they thought she was dead, but it turned out she had to go into the Witness Protection Program? That was INSANE! Casey Novak was a good ADA too, as well as that woman who was the first ADA in Season One (ADA Abbie Carmichael), but Alex was my fave.

That one ADA was a bitch...I forgot her name, but she and Elliott got into it a lot, and she ended up getting in big trouble for being intoxicated in court.

I miss Elliott. I was absolutely devastated when I realized that he left the show. That was my baby! :crybaby:

Great show. Not sure if any of you are from NYC, but in a sick and twisted way you might understand. When I am missing home badly, I put in some law and order (normally svu) and it helps.

Just to let you all know, channel USA airs marathons of SVU every Tuesday and every weekend (Sunday, I believe). On Sunday/Mothers Day their theme will be 'Mother of all Marathons'. I really like that channel because every time I turn to it, either SVU or NCIS is on. :thumbleft:

On last night's SVU episode Detective Fin Tutuola's son announced his engagement to his boyfriend. Fin had a look of disappointment on his face at first, but he was supportive. There was a touching scene later on where he was talking to his future son-in-law, who was in a coma (he had been attacked).

I miss Christopher Meloni on this show so much (I need to Google him to find out what he's up to now), even though the detective who replaced him is a good cop too.

Awww! :) Mariska Hargitay with her adopted daughter Amaya.

I got season 12 on dvd today, and I'm watching that episode about the weird guy with the mushrooms...lol. Paula Patton (wife of R&B singer Robin Thicke) also makes an appearance as an A.D.A. in this episode. I thought it would've been awesome to get her in a kissing scene with Detective Elliott Stabler...lol. She's gorgeous, and he's so yummy.

It was perfect casting to partner Ice-T with Richard Belzer (Det Munch from Homicide)- they play well off each other and made the show a whole lot better than it was in the beginning.

I still think it's ironic and amusing that Ice-T ended up playing a cop only about 10-years after the "Cop Killer" controversy- now he's probably better known to most younger Americans as an actor who plays a cop.

I don't like her short hair look at all. She looks way better with long hair.

Re: Last night's episode:

As soon as Detective Nick (IDK his last name...it's the new guy who replaced my baby Detective Stabler) gave that blonde girl his business card and told her "Call me anytime," I thought "Oh boy, this ain't good....." That girl was coming on to him in an earlier scene when he was questioning her, and she was trying to get him to cheat on his wife with her.

And then Captain Kragen waking up to find a dead woman in his bed..... And the episode ends there.

I actually just got around to watching the last episode of the season. I hate being left so confused when their shows almost always have some sort of resolution at the end.

Didn't know where to put this, cuz didn't really want to disrespect the thread by posting what might seem a negative comment, but it is just an observation, and perhaps not an accurate one at that. I have seen maybe 12-15 L&OSVU but I swear in ten of those the perp is talked into telling on him/her self. I would imagine the ppl who commit such crimes very well may be more likely to come clean out of guilt, or the sense that they are sick and need help. It just sort of bothers me when so often the story line ends with the baddies telling on themselves, or doing something that is obviously the same as telling on themselves. does that make sense, or have i just seen, by chance, a bunch where this is how it goes?

I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, but in a lot of episodes you'll see them making these confessions because they want the A.D.A. to "offer them a deal." For example, life in prison INSTEAD OF the death penalty. Or if a certain pedophile reveals the names of other pedophiles, he might get a lighter sentence.

Sometimes the detectives don't have enough evidence (or the evidence has been destroyed or whatever), and their only hope is to get the guilty parties to confess. *(Years ago, I came home from the hospital and learned that a guy I dated went into my mail and stole/forged/cashed my disability paycheck, and I was told that nothing could be done about it unless he confessed. That asshole wasn't gonna confess.)*

Bumping this thread to bring up something very strange. It's crossed my mind before, but I forgot to post about it here.

In the episode 'Doubt' in Season 6 (about an alleged rape, and the SVU was divided about whether or not they believed the woman or the man), the episode ended with the line "We find the defendant....." Then it goes to the end credits.

Then in the FOLLOWING episode, they never continue where they left off, and we never get to hear what the verdict was. :woops: How weird is that? They left us hanging AND never told us what the verdict was.

Since the story made the guilt kind of fuzzy, maybe the producers decided to leave it up to the audience to decide who was guilty. Without some kind of follow up, that sounds like a ditzy idea though. :)

There was a play way years ago kind of like that. "The Night of January 16th" if my memory is intact, was a stage play where the guilt or innocence of the defendant was in the air and could only be determined by the ethical standards of the jury...which was the audience. Since each performance could end differently, the after-trial end of the play had two script segment, and which was used was determined by how the audience-jury decided the case.

After the season premiere this past Wednesday, there was a preview commercial that said the next episode will be in 2 weeks. :( So I guess next Wednesday night they'll either be airing a rerun, or some other game/event will be taking over SVU's time slot next Wednesday.

Aw, this is that episode about a rape/murder case involving 14-year old Jeremy (considered 'dorky'...wouldn't hurt a fly...easily manipulated by his so-called friend Zachary) and his friend Zachary. Jeremy witnessed Zach rape and kill a woman, but during questioning, Jeremy refused to give his friend up. Zach, on the other hand, lies and tells the detectives that Jeremy committed the crime. Needless to say, things are NOT looking good for Jeremy .....

Well, the D.A. is trying Jeremy as an adult, and he faces the possibility of a life sentence in Attica. A.D.A. Alex Cabot pleads with his mother to TAKE THE DEAL that's offered to him (5 - 10 years). His mom says "No, we'll take our chances in court!" :woops: The end result? They return with a shocking verdict of GUILTY, and this poor kid is sentenced to life in Attica. When they announce the verdict, his mom screams "NOOOOO!!!!!" :(

He could've just gotten 5 - 10 years, but his mom refused to take the deal. So instead he gets life...
