I honestly think you guys are being a little dramatic. If someone is threatening you, you should definitely report it. But the majority of the people posting are just complaining about dumb shit. I feel like almost every thread I read on here now is a bunch of whining, bitching, and shit talking. I'm sorry that I'm probably coming off as a bitch, but we are adults - and we should act as such. I have to agree completely and 100% with Jupiter. The humor is easily ignored, but it's the slew of insults he's given every single person that has questioned him in the slightest. Also, I don't feel bad for sticking up for my friends even if it means that people are going look down on me for not welcoming a troll onto the forums.

Who's crying about it? My xhamster user name is the same as my forum name here, go marvel at the 3 comments I've ever made. I don't even remember what they are but I'm fairly confident I don't have anything to be embarassed about.

I just don't agree that someone (anyone) can say whatever they want, and in response I'm supposed to abdicate my right to answer for myself in a public forum. Not to make this all super serious or anything but I think the right to speak one's mind like an adult is a very basic and important human right.

Lily's right, we are adults and we should be able to act like it without things getting silly. We should also reserve the right to make calm, logical responses to something we disagree with.

Where I'm from if someone acts like an anti-social asshole for example, others will let him or her know - not just carry on indulging them until no one dares to say anything.

I don't put people on ignore, here or anywhere on the internet. If someone's being an asshole I want it to my face, not behind my back.

I don't go looking for conflict but I won't shy from it either -conflict really isn't a bad thing in every case, sometimes it's a catalyst for a change that really did need to be made, or someone's inappropriate shit that 99 other people were scared to say anything about in case they were the next target.

It also doesn't make sense to me to blame someone responding to a troll or otherwise insulting person for 'making a scene'. Why is the onus on the respondent?

Completely hypothetically speaking, if a person was to say, sign up for this forum a couple of weeks ago and in that time make a number of inflammatory and insulting remarks to those who disagreed with anything he or she said and in response annoyed 20 people I think two things are logical.

a) It's actually a lot more than 20 and that's just the ones who actually bothered or had the balls to speak up

b) if it's in the interests of keeping the peace you might want to look at the one person to find the root of anti-social behaviour, rather than the multitude, because if a whole bunch of people say someone's acting like an asshole, they probably are.

There's a difference between "speaking your mind" and "pointless bitching/complaining/crying." Same with pointing out that they're an asshole; what if they're only an asshole in your eyes, or you just don't think they're funny? People speak out, sure, but after a telling someone you don't like them once, why keep complaining? There's a big difference between saying "Do you realize how mean this is?" and saying "AHSFLKDD DARAMA I HATE YOU YOU SO STUPID SDKLJFDLKSJ dumb dumb asshole you leave noaw!"

People aren't scared to speak up, most of them just know that there's an ignore function. It's not your job to speak up, or "call someone out." It's Amber's forum, and she decides what's cool, and what's lame; and she's very good at that. If you can't stand a post, fucking report it. That's what it's there for. (Well, that and spam.)


To your points;
A) Those 20 people are probably trolling and flaming and causing more drama over the "new person who you think is an asshole" than the new person ever would have. If he was a big problem, the admin would have dealt with it. Instead, we've turned the thread/forum into something hostile just for the sake of bitching and drama. Those 20 people could have ignored them, and if it was truly bad, reported it and let Amber judge. If it was super bad, maybe secretly a personal attack, you'd be better off PM'ing Amber than feeding the troll.

B) If someone's posts on the internet make you feel like you're "losing peace" then ignore them. Or get off of the internet, because you can't handle the internet. Once again if a bunch of people think that someone is an asshole, see response A.
