Hello! This is my first post ever on Amber Cutie! I have been a model on MFC since August, however all I have done is made an account & gone on cam with my friends who also has one, & we've been spliting the money. Now that Im about to get a laptop computer that supports the program MFC makes you use, I am worried that the DSL connection that I have at my house wont be good enough. Has anyone ever had to use MFC under these circumstances? Does it make a differece? Please, let me know before I am disapointed! :crybaby:

not sure what's most important for cams (I presume upload speed) but you have a particularly low download speed.

okay, you know what, after looking at that post you shared with me, my internet speed is embarrasing, lol.
Yeah, that's on the low side. Are you on WiFi or plugged into a router. WiFi really isn't a great idea for camming.

Re: Internet connection: Would using DSL make a huge differe

I've given up trying to figure out if speed has anything whatsoever to do with MFC connection. I can get A+, awesome speed tests, but still lag/skip like crazy on cam on MFC, then I'll go to another site and I can stream just fine. And yeah, I would also recommend not using WiFi :)

Re: Internet connection: Would using DSL make a huge differe

I cam on streamate and mfc, streamate requires a minimum upload speed of 1MB in order to use some of their enhanced features. I have DSL and have had to buy upgraded packages with my internet company to get my internet upload speed high enough. Also, keep in mind that if anyone else is using your internet for gaming or other camming while you are trying to cam it will slow down your connection too. I think the upload speed does matter, imagine the people in your room trying to enjoy you, what you are doing and saying, through a spotty cam connection? Might kill the mood for some. Also, most people won't tell you that your connection is going in and out, they will just leave your room, so then you lose opportunities to make relationships with potential regulars. In general, cable internet has the availability for higher upload speeds than DSL. I'm capped out at 2MB, whereas before I had cable which was 5MB.

Hope this helps!

Re: Internet connection: Would using DSL make a huge differe

I seriously need your help.

Since Monday, my internet connection has been sooo slow and I can't see the reason why!
I'm sharing a wireless network with my little brother who lives in the same apartment.
Websites load nicely, as long as they don't contain many pictures (the threads on this forum for example still load really fast). But YouTube videos take much longer to load than before, and so do highres pictures.
Also, I can't watch cams on MFC anymore because they're super choppy! I suppose that means that I can't broadcast correctly anymore either.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be? I'm sort of financially dependent on my internet connection, I haven't been on cam in a long time.

I'm pretty sure it's not a virus because everything else on my laptop works fine.

I assume your brother is having the same problems. Is your brother running any torrent program? If he is not then you should go to your modem and plug your computer straight into it. If your speed picks up then you should try a hard reset on the router your modem is plugged into and see if your speed picks up. If that did not help then try to change the password on your wireless modem in case someone is stealing from you. If both of those things fail you may need a new router. If plugging into the modem did not help your speed contact your provider and have them troubleshoot it for you.

I've had the same problem Lily, ever since the new update that is. It doesn't matter whether my laptop is plugged in directly or on wireless i get the same results. One minute my bandwidth is excellent & the next minute it's poor, before the update I was able to stream just fine. :think:

hi I test the speed of my internet in many sites I got the best and accurate speed results from this site http://www.ip-details.com/
my results are
download=1.04kbps
upload=0.77kbps
I dont know the reason why my speed seems to be slow many of them said that if Cable Internet services share bandwidth with satellite Internet access.
If there are many subscribers using that same bandwidth, it can slow down the connection.
kindly guide me how to solve this problem .
