I want to customize my MFC profile

Is there a user here that I could be referred to to make me a simple but sweet layout? I have nooooo experience in HTML or codes or anything...I will be looking into some of the other websites that were posted earlier in the thread. Any other websites that could help out, too, lemme know!

Evvie has made the thread Make Your Own Graphics (Without special programs!), it's really useful for girls who don't know HTML and therefore want to make a graphic-based profile. My profile consists only of graphics!

The only HTML codes I need are:

Link: <a href='http://www.yourlink.com'>click here!</a>

Picture: <img src='http://sourceoftheimage.jpg'></a>

Linked pic: <a href='http://www.yourlink.com'><img src='http://sourceoftheimage.jpg'></a>

You can let someone else make you a profile, but it's so much more satisfying to look at your finished work and be able to say you did it all by yourself and everything's exactly the way you want it.

I am wanting to figure out how to change my profile, to customize it with paragraphs.. and so on. It seems when I put the HTML codes in under the ABOUT ME section it came up an error. I don't know what I did wrong! :angry4: I do not know if I need to put it in a different section or what!

It's very difficult to answer technical questions without specifics. What code did you try to enter? What error did you receive?

I was using basic HTML codes.. I went to this website http://www.ironspider.ca/format_text/paragraphs.htm
and did what it said to do and it came up that there was an error..

I am now trying to use GIMP but I am confused as to how i can post the GIMP file on my profile after it is completed.

You need to export it as a jpg rather than saving it as an XCF

So I tried to upload the "follow me on Twitter" link and every time I try to update it my about me shows an error! Yet again!

I am also wanting to put up a youtube music video and have it play when people come into my profile and I was able to get it on the profile but it was not playing when I went in there.

Do NOT do that, trust me, that is the FASTEST way to have guys never look at your profile any longer than to go "Back button, now!" If you want, you can leave the vid, just don't make it play automatically.

To be honest I have seen 2 [TWO ONLY] profiles that had music autoplay where I thought it was good. Both were very subdued mellow, almost muzak, theme music that went along with a very specific style of their profile. Every other time I've loaded a profile with music set to autoplay I've had to frantically search for the source video and kill it with a vengeance, or just leave quickly and never come back. Autoplay music is very annoying.

Whenever I stumble across profile's with autoplay it triggers like a mild panic attack response (similar to the reaction many of us have when you hear the alarm clock noise unexpectedly in the middle of the day). I never even make it far enough to mute the sound. I just close EVERYTHING. lol

The only profile I've come across with decent autoplay sound was that of a member who had this YT clip with ocean sounds running. it was at a nice low volume, too. Otherwise they've all be nasty surprises.

I want to centralize my profile, i am trying to figure out how can i make it but i have no freaking idea where the HTML hides to edit.

Or CSS. I am not sure which one i have to use to centralize it and not be top left/center.

If i can find the code sction i think i can work on it, but the only thing i know is tricking the about me section into HTML editing area. Help?

Assuming you're using the new profile, add this rule to your CSS.

The easiest way is to look at your profile, right click the thing you want to hide and click "inspect element" (assuming Chrome here, but all browsers have a way to inspect the html source). When you do that, you'll see the developer tools popup and something ugly like the screenshot below.

I put a red box around what you will be looking for. It should be highlighted by Chrome, or possibly something inside it will be highlighted, but you will want to look for the DIV that has a class "container". In blue I highlighted the id of that DIV. Copy the id and substitute it in the rule and you should be able to hide whatever you want.

You'll want the container id and not the label id.

Try putting your images in one of the other sections, under interests and hobbies. Centering things in About Me is problematic because it will always be offset by the user data (age, height, blah blah) and most recent photos. Drop them in another section and the base new profile will lay out much more nicely.

That won't solve all your issues but it will go a long way to moving your images back toward the center of the page.

No, looks like you did fine. My error was that there is apparently a rule overriding the rule I recommended.

Add "!important" to the rule like so and it should do the trick.
