Despite it being one of the highest rated shows on cable, and being a long-running weekly fixture which has begun to really seek out viewers of both genders in the past few years, I'm not sure this topic will get ANY interest here, but I'll try it.

Professional Wrestling.

Anybody a viewer?

Not me, too painful to talk about. Ever since Randy "Macho Man" Savage left, wrestling just hasn't been the same for me.

Copy and pasted from mah wrestling blog post...

Being a wrestling fan – and a WWE fan in particular – isn’t always easy. I’m 31 years old now (my body creaks when I walk up the stairs), of moderate intelligence, and cynical and world-weary enough to know that, by any sensible metric, professional wrestling is something I should have left behind years ago, along with Superman pyjamas, Saturday morning cartoons, non-ironic usage of the word “poop”, and earnest aspirations to one day become an astronaut.

It’s easy to dismiss professional wrestling as television for idiots, an absurd pretend sport for children and the mentally enfeebled. And it’s hard to argue that it’s not those things, but it’s much more besides. It’s a surrealist soap opera played out before a live audience by super-athlete cartoon characters who just so happen to also be real people, who really do hurt themselves each time they get thrown out of the ring, or fall off a ladder, or have a television set explode in their face.

At its best, professional wrestling is a celebration of athleticism and strength and agility and drama and suspense and real-time storytelling; it’s unpredictable, it’s emotional, and it’s very, very silly. Most importantly, it’s fun.

Used to love it, watched every week and because of time zones even used to sneak downstairs in the middle of the night with my brothers at like 2am or whatever it was to watch the live PPVs. My Dad was cool with us doing it and him paying for them but always told us if Mum found out and caught us he would deny all knowledge of our secret deal and we'd be at the mercy of whatever punishment she dreamt up. They were some happy times.

Dont even remember when or why I stopped watching it. I guess i just grew out of it.

I used to be a hard core fan back in the 80's and 90's (NWA mostly) read the dirt sheets back then as well.

I stopped watching when I got married, and kinda started back with the nWo (always hated hulk hogan, was a treat to see him getting booed as a heel).

Then the Chris Benoit tragedy happened and now I only watch a few times a year (mania, rumble).

Way back when the Wild Samoans were on TV giving an interview with Mean Jean ...the one brother scratched his big fluffy afro and a moth flew out and right into the camera lens...that was the high point for me....laughed for about 2 days at that one :)

Royal Rumble is the best!

I grew up on the Von Erichs (just after David died) vs. the Freebirds (I think there was some sort of hair tonic involved that caused Buddy Roberts to loose his hair). It was Amazing stuff! I think at around the same time Hulk Hogan beat the Iron Shiek for the WWF title (Goooo America!), the Road Warriors were destroying everything around them and Superfly Jimmy Snuka was getting smashed in the face with a coconut by Roddy Piper in Piper's Pit.

Best TV EVER~ Loll!!!!!!!! I miss those days. :)

I was soo into it that I tried to do wrestling on the team at the school, but I kinda lost interest when I realized that the "Iron Claw" wasn't a real wrestling move (I knew that move).
