I'm just curious as people say Ireland is the most expensive country in Europe to go out in. ON an average night out how much would you spend?

In Ireland it would usually be about 80 - 100 Euros avg if you go to a regular (not cocktail) bar.

I think this needs a little more context. What are you referring to as "an average night out"? Drinking, or different activities that we do regularly?

If by drinking, I'm not much of a drinker. Rarely drink at home, and will limit myself to two beers in a social setting as one of my jobs mandates that I not have any kind of alcohol infractions. For me, a two beer tab with tip will be around $20-25USD depending on the high end. If I'm drinking a couple of Miller Lites, it can be $5USD.

As to other activities which constitute as "an average night out". Costs vary greatly depending upon the activity. Free on the low end for a bike ride with friends, to $250USD depending upon what the activity is.

Lately though, my "average night out" of the house has me earning money. ;)

Truthfully, I always prepare to spend at least 40-60 on drinks and maybe a light night nosh--and that's at a cocktail bar I frequent (that's super chill, no loud music but really laid back while still having an aesthetic I love and fabulous drinks), typically. But! If I'm at the bar with some of my guy friends who are still very, very Southern culture, I probably won't pay for anything.

I don't drink a lot, though, since I get migraines fairly severely and figured out that drinking and crowds can trigger them. So, it's a once in six months kind of an expense.

One thing I loveeeeee about living in Wisconsin is we have such a huge "WHOOOO BEER AND BOOZE" mentality (which is actually horrible but also can benefit me) and a lot of my drinks are cheap. We hit a lot of country backwoods bars which makes it even cheaper. I can usually get drunk (my drink of choice is a simple vodka sprite which is usually between $2.50-$4 or Angry Orchard which is like $3.50ish) and spend less than $25 including the tip.

Edit: Okay wait let's say $30-$35 spent because I usually will get bar food at some point, I can't turn down that greasy shitty basket of cheese curds or wings! :haha:

Wisconsin has a bar on 3.5 out of 4 corners at almost every intersection. ;)

Spotted Cow is probably my favorite drink when I decide to venture into WI and decide to have a beer.

Mmmm love me a Spotted Cow now and then! But seriously, the amount of bars is insane. People think I am joking when I talk about how much we love our alcohol here and then they see how many bars/pubs/clubs you pass driving literally anywhere and then they finally get it! Hahah!

Yeah, it is really crazy the amount of bars in WI. Especially in rural small towns. But, then again, not much else to do there until hunting season. Then, because of all the drunks, I stay out of the woods... ;)

Yeah, I meant drinking :)

If I ever came back from night out with more than what I had when I left, I'd be seriously worrying about what I did haha

2.50 to 4 Dollars for a vodka sprite? In Ireland that would be about €7 in the city, which is about $8.50, This country annoys me so much sometimes. The government decided we all drink too much, so thought raising drink prices would help, some places in Dublin charge €10 a pint.

There's probably one bar per every 10 houses in Ireland, literally!

What I thought you meant. But, wanted to inquire since there's such a variety of "night's out" for everyone.

Since I don't drink, my "night out" is in reference to one of my jobs. ;)

Many municipalities, counties and states in the US view drinking and smoking as a source of income so they tax the hell out of it because it's a "sin". When I stopped smoking in 2004, a pack of cigarettes was about $2.50. The other day when I stopped at a gas station, I noticed they were about $8.50/pack.

Makes me glad that I stopped smoking when I did, as I was on a 2-3 pack a day habit. Have never been much of a drinker, so not much of a concern there. But, sporting events charge $12 for a beer. Same I can buy at bar for about $4.50.

About $25 if I'm just drinking, that gets me 3 Long Island Iced Teas or four rum&coke's. If I eat something at the bar, add $10-15.

because I usually will get bar food at some point, I can't turn down that greasy shitty basket of cheese curds or wings!

This is necessary for hangover prevention!

Usually around $50 - $100 depending on where we go and who we're paying for (sometimes I'll pay for a friend when they're waiting on pay day or if I invite them out to a new place it's polite to). We go out maybe once a month though so that's why when we do we go big. :giggle:

If its just me.... like legit ass solo...$30 tops food and drinks. If I'm out with a date or husband between the two people it can easily go $100-$150 depending on where we are in town and the sort of establishment. :D

my first thought: oh hell no

anyway, assuming that i would want to leave my house, it'd be tops $50 for both me and my partner. which is still in the "oh hell no" category.

Call me lame but my favorite night out is going to the movies. Where I last lived it cost me $10 and I went all the time. Now I've moved the cheapest I can find is $32. The flip :(

$32 for a movie?! That better come with a large popcorn and soda at least....

that much for where I live it's places that are the eatery type movie houses. And, I can get liquor there. 30+ for a movie better come with the option for actual food like a burger and a cider. That suuuucks.

My night out usually is a trip to the local alternative club, where I get in for free because I'm drinking age! I can get a rum-and-coke for $2.50 (though I add on a dollar tip per drink), which means I never spend more than $15 on the dancing/drinking aspect. Occasionally, an extra five bucks will go towards getting deliciously greasy hashbrowns afterwards. So $20 maaaax, for dancing, drinks, and foods.

My eeeevenings out are usually to go get delicious sushi and sake, which usually ends up being about $25, since I'm a vegetarian and veggie sushi is cheap as hell!

I can't imagine paying $8 for a drink, though. That is wild to me!

I can't imagine paying that. Only places I could think of those prices would be NYC, LA or the like...
It's ridiculous @ExcellaExe it is one where you can get alcohol. .. but of course that costs more. Looks like I'll only be going to marvel movies and other must sees now!

Do they at least have recliner chairs? Otherwise super lame.

Given that I can't drink anymore on my new migraine meds nights out just got a hell of a lot cheaper

Went to my favorite pub with my circle and paid around 12 bucks. I'll take it.

They don't :( and it is all super lame haha. There are cheaper cinemas but they're like an hour PT away and play indie movies and they're still like $17 (I have no issue with indie movies but my purpose for going to the movies is generally to see something that I can't hire or stream so not my deal).

At least people here agree with me that the price is high haha makes me feel validated for complaining :p

I love those types of places, there's nothing like a movie with a burger and a beer.

Bar night paying only for myself, maybe $20-$50 for cover ($0-$15), drinks ($6-$7 x 3-4), and post-drinks noms ($10).
Date night with dinner $60-$120 for the two of us. Movies are about $18 each here, but for me movies or music go with cheaper food, so probably still in that range.
Strip club or casino night, $20-$1000?

We are going to a movie just as a family. Its a special kind of movie setting set up for baby's and kids friendly. $7 per adult, one child per adult under 6 gets in for free. So $14 for the tickets. We are going to sneak in snacks.

If it was a dinner for the husband and I it would be $60-$70 / lunch $30-$40
